    Looking for help. I have an 4AFE and I’ve aligned the timing marks using the procedure in the video. When starting car there’s a spanking metal sound like it’s trying to catch but won’t turn over.
    A buddy said I could have possibly installed the distributor 180 degrees off. How would I fix this?

    I have a question, I have a 1992 toyota carola with a L4 engine cranks and runs great changed every part on it i could think of electrically. I can drive maybe 2 days or a month and it will start running like crap kind of like it goes into limp mode I will give it gas and it just bogges down and has no power to go I'll let it sit in my yard for a day or so and crank it up and it's ready to go. Would you happen to know what i need to change or look at ? And I tried taking it to a mechanic but they all say it's too old and nobody will work on it and its not showing any codes been dealing with this issue for a year

    Hello Peter. If You don't mind, I would like to ask You a question about Corolla. I have 4E-FE in mine and it going of, I got it in bad condition. Now I'm thinking to change to 7A-FE engine from Avensis. My question is, will I have to change gear box and drive shafts as well, or my old ones will fit. Thanks in advance, for Your time Peter.

    I have that engine in my living room..
    Not a big story ...
    When checking the timing,
    Main pulley need to point with the mark
    On the -0 of the timing shield, and the camshaft gear wheel should point with letter "A" at the 12 o'clock of retainer housing...
    A great and simple engine to make an overall , a joy to reassemble...

      No position sensor

      No sensor, it has a distributor instead.

    • @Leesherwood
      @Leesherwood 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a 1996 1.6 , and the crankshaft position sensor is located on the left rear side of the crankshaft at about 10 or 11 oclock in the back by the block where the sensor lines up with gear teeth on the crank sprocket. So take off the pulley, take off the gear, look in the back left at 10 or 11 oclock. you will probably see a wire running down to a metallic looking canister pointing at the back teeth on the sprocket.
