My dad died in 1975 I was 6 years old and this song got me through the worst of my grief. I just always said it was sung to me by my dad. It still brings me comfort all the years later. AND MY NAME IS MICHELLE.

Hi Michelle 😢a very touching story Dear. I was 14 years old when this song came out. I’ve always loved it and it’s a sad song indeed. From now on when ever I hear this song I’ll think of you Honey.😢🙏

I’m Michele, also. But I was BORN in May of 1974, while this song was still in the charts. My name was supposed to be Sharon Anne, but my aunt and uncle had a baby girl three weeks before I was born and they called her Sharon. Another uncle suggested the name Michele. I’ve always wondered if it was because he liked this song.

In the 70's when I was a kid , my dad loved to listen to this song on the radio, and every verse describes his life growing up from the we have known each other since 9 or 10 . This part describes his best friend Buddy when they were kids ..2nd verse talks about his father, my dad told me was an alcoholic and beat him many times when he was a child especially cuz he wet the bed on nights. When I took care of my dad during hospice , the nurse had to put a catheter in him, because it was to hard to bring him to the bathroom , even though he had a catheter he kept saying he still needs to pee, I kept telling him , Dad you have a catheter in u don't have to go to the bathroom , you are safe, I didn't find out what he went thru as a child until my aunt , his older sister told me about this, then I realized why he was behaving this way. Because he was worried about wetting the bed.
3rd verse My dad always wanted another daughter to name Michelle , when my mother got pregnant with her 3rd child and was a girl my mother wanted to name her after her name Carolyn , and he reluctantly agreed. But she still brought him happiness my sister did bring my dad to enjoy Myrtle Beach and found starfish on the beach.
My dad passed away in April 2011 when the birds started singing in the spring (from prostate cancer at the age of 71. )
RIP Dad I Love you .I took care of him till the end

A regarder et écouter sans modération en 2024 comme en 1974. 50 ans et toujours pas une ride (sauf sur mon visage) ! I am 57 this year and after 50 the years fly by I have seen some great people pass over of all ages - most of them fantastic and many did not make 60. You never know what can happen but I will say this I lived my life to the full following my heart I exhausted the subject in every area you can imagine - but life does not end here - Jesus Christ revealed himself to me powerfully in a hotel room in my mid twenties when I wasn’t really even looking for him he just cornered me - Room 211 of the Comfort inn in Orlando Florida in the 90s - I knew then that God existed and he wants us to live with him forever. - so it’s not over - if your heart is open he will come. Try him and see. God bless you all ❤️
