Good work. Getting people hooked on our great hobby and having fun is the key and this so gets people into it all. Just love how you do RC the way you want.
you dont need to think that its boring for people thats not building when watching this video its still really entertaning and it helps me learn so thankyou and stay an addict :)
You are one of the smartest RC builders that i have ever seen! You take such simple things that aren't all so expensive and you turn the into unique pieces of work that you cant get anywhere! Love your videos, please don't ever stop making them!
Hey medic, I have been watching your videos for about month now, and just went out looking for an RC today, then i stumble across this video, this was very informative and very helpful and i do believe i found my first truck to build! Thanks for every thing you have done with these videos they are very helpful, informative and entertaining, my kids are even starting to get involved now and that means a lot to me! Thanks again!
Medic, I purchased the 10th scale Exceed Maxstone as an entry level and as my first hobby grade RC vehicle and I'm pretty impressed with its initial capabilities. I've since trimmed some lugs off of the tires a la your tutorial and also starred the foams and added 3 ounces of stick on wheel on the inside of each wheel, underneath the foam. I also swapped the front springs to the softest with one thick pre-load clip and the rears to the heaviest springs that are included with the truck. GREAT!
Nicely done Aaron. Very interesting and not bad looking. Looks like a BEAST. 1/5 crawler would be insane lol. Look forward to seeing what you are able to do with this outdoors.
Sweet! Got mine today and dam it's big and it's going bigger! It easily climbed the rock water fall. What a kick in the pants. I have been into rc everything for over 50yrs. And have ever had this much fun right out of the box. all the part i need to go bigger will be here in a day or two. I will send pics and maybe even a video... still need a body...
This has to be one of the best if not the best bang for your buck I have ever seen in the rc world! I'm going to start ordering up parts tonight lol this will drive the fellas on the job crazy haha
oh man... this is such a throwback. i love this channel so much. been watching since.... well... about the time this video came out, maybe a bit after. basically i was 12 years old and got access to the internet and youtube via my ipod touch 2 and my dad's old laptop that ran on windows xp... those were the days. i tried to watch through every single rcsparks video- that was back when the channel only had 300 videos or so on it. i didnt quite make it although i did watch more than 100 videos starting with the very first one. its amazing to see how your family and the channel have grown. i plan on building a 1/5th scale crawler like this if i can find the parts haha. awesome stuff, as always PS: wow these comments are hilarious like the one from 2 months ago complaining about the 360p video quality.... does he/she not realize the date this video was posted? haha! 360p was good stuff back then, at least for me with my 500kbps internet connection and 8 year old laptop at the time. i was lucky to get 144p some days... anyways, big nostalgia hit. basically this just made my day, seeing this video pop up in my recommended videos feed. still cant believe this was almost 7 years ago now... i also just want to say thank you, before i post this, because you got me into rc. i got my first crawler going on 4 years ago now- that was after my first rc plane decided to fly away, just away away, like gone, forever, nothing recovered. after that i decided that crawlers were for me... they cant escape on you very easily and dont break as often as fast cars do. on a serious note- you really did shape my life with your videos. so thank you.
I entered your contest. Thought the truck was extremely awesome. Have had RC vehicles since I was a kid. Cars, trucks and boats. Haven't had one for awhile as I became disabled, had to quit work and Social Security my only income so can't afford to buy any RC. Am in a wheelchair and getting back into RC would be a great hobby that I would be able to do. Keep up the good shows. Love what you do and vehicles you show, always making me drool. WheelChairCowboy (joeinrye)
Thank you so much for posting this. I've always want to get into RC crawling but I never could afford them. So this can help me jump into the Crawler seen. Thank you again
NICE! Not usually the kind of RC that appeals to me, but this is sick....i can see TONS of potential in this rig, cant wait to see what you do with it. I suggest overkill part 2 !
hey medic i watch a lot of your videos so i like rc then the first night i saw 1 of your videos i went on ebay and bought a redcat racing vortex ss. and i love that i cut grass to earn enough money to do this awesome hobby. medic you prove rc is awesome.
In that case, I'll start with the transmission, perhaps try to make the whole transmission aluminium or steel, then I'll do the drive shafts and then start looking for bigger tires and wheels. The great part is - it's a personal hobby, I have all the time in the world, hehe. But thank you for the tip. I'm gonna follow those steps. Thanks very much Mr. Medic You rock!! :D
Hey Medic! I'm glad you were able to enjoy a bit of sunny California!!!! I'd really like to see an update of how the move went for Ted's Garage and how the new Set Up for Calgary Crawlers looks in the new and bigger space! Hoping this comes soon! Great work Man
That was pretty cool. I always wanted to have a rc vehicle that size. I thought it was going to look like a bridge at first but ended up looking preportional. Right-on.
Dude I have no problem sitting down for 17 mins and checking out you create a 5th scale monster! Thanks for the video and the qiuck and afforadable project truck for anyone! I think I might get a extra set of chasis plates and do my Mad Torque the same way and make it Duely! Thanks again Bro!
Dude i just got this truck for Christmas from my mom.IT is freaking AWESOME!now i just need to save up for the chassis plates to convert it to a 1/5 scale.
Being an avid crawling fanatic and not a real fan of Exceed products, I still find this interesting. Even though it's impractical in the crawling world, it's definitely different. Would be a fun basher.
How about a video using your 1/5 scale crawler? You always use your 1/10 scale which are great but would like to see if there are any new challenges with a larger truck!👍🏽 Can’t wait to see a video with this truck! Great info medic!✌🏽🤙🏽
Thank you thank you thank you... Oh Im so happy to see a cool super budgeted build.. Im definitely gonna try and pick this rig up with the custom pieces and finally have a truly upgradeable rig..
Awesome, this is going to be my first build! with upgrade to a 1.5...i ve been watching your show for a while, just waiting for the one to pop out at me, and finally, it did, thanks man!( maybe i'll film the build).
Wish i had the money to get back into R/C was mad addicted back when i was 15 to 17. Now im 23, work my ass off all week, pay rent, a million bills and have no money to do anything. Bring back the days of living with the parents!
I recently went to WalMart and saw a nitto rock crawler and it's great!!! But it's an entry level and has joystick controls but still fun and addicting to play with
Awesome video, brother. Really enjoyed them over the last 2 months. Thanks to you, I have a new obsession. The truck in this video is cheap enough i can buy 2 and take my nephew with me to rock crawl. Plus added bonus that you have showed us how to make it Bigger and Better. I look forward to buying these rigs soon. But First I need to buy my nephew a truck for his birthday in october. then after Christmas, It's on like King Kong!!! ha ha.
Okay, so just wanted to let you know...again, one of your videos has given me a bad idea. I had never really gotten the idea of crawling (who wants to go slow right?), but now I am sold on the idea of it. I honestly can see me driving my wife crazy with constantly looking at a terrain feature wondering if it can be scaled. Hence the appeal...can't wait to drive her crazy with something else...thanks again for your bad influence.
that is a sweet build! yours is way easier to do compared to the my 5th scale project. think i'll build one of these sooner or later too. keep up the hard work and great vids!
Perfect medic, thats just what ive been looking for, ive got a 1/5th scale newbright jeep rubicon and ive been waiting to find a chassis or build one, i think ive just found what im going to do!..thanks medic.
Props to James for the build he should mass produce it and put some hopups on it throw some of their eazy run motor s in theme wow dj medic this is really cool so many ways to customize this truck can't wait I know you are Going to flip this truck out cool vid.
wow, that was incredibly entertaining. Thank you. I was thinking about a losi night crawler coz these things looked a bit cheap and weak... But you have made it look big and tough. A worthy consideration! :)
Wish had seen this truck before spent more than that extending a Traxxas E-Maxx into a 1/5 scale Knight Rider Truck. Will defo be doing this as soon as money is willing and able!! Cool truck and video by the way cheers man!!
great video man! i have to say i like your vids and have learned tons of cool stuff. ive been in this hobby for 15 years and im always amazed at the new stuff thats around. thanks for showing us all this cool stuff bro!!!
good vid fella im sure there kids running to the stores as we speak. i love the fact you jump straight custom work as soon as it left the box , damn good looking truck. nice one..
Nice medic n very informative I wonder if the 1/6 scale new bright H2 Hummers body would fit on it then you could have an awesome huge scale rig that all the doors even open on with full detailed interior that would make some killer videos that your whole audience would enjoy just a lil thought for ya n keep doing what you enjoy till next time talk to ya later
Loved this video so much, I went out and bought the parts to make it. However the chassis binds up in this configuration, as the shock action is minimal, providing limited squatting and less twisting. Buying the 1/5th scale is the answer here. I think with a couple of extra side posts those twin chassis parts could make one hell of a triple width mule for my pixhawk gear.
hi, so it got my parts to go 1/5 and it is very easy to do, it took about 20 minutes. i also went to 4 wheel steering and that was easy. I'll try it out after dinner. things big sweet!
So, I see an inherent problem here, Medic is speaking of 2 and 3oo dollar rigs and I recommend the Summit to a viewer...Hell yea, keep your eye out on craigslist for a summit within a hundred miles of you, sure they will want like 300, but tell them you will buy it for 200. That is how I got my 3905 emaxx that has the Mamba in it! Breaks like glass the way I drive it on 6S but God I love that thing!
Thanks Exceed for the low-priced rc for people new to the hobby!! And thanks DJMEDiC for this awesome a 1/5th scale Crawler! One question... can you compare this to the Losi 5t? (SIZE)
What is often missed by people thinking about getting into hobby grade RC is. The buy-in is the cheapest part of the hobby. Tools, parts, projects, parts, oh did I mention tools. You will spend more over time than you ever spend on the entry level vehicle you start with. So if you can't afford what you want going cheap will just frustrate you in the long run. Save up or wait till there is more cash flow.
i just spoke with a rep from Nitro rcx, and he informed me that out of stock merchandise such as the "1/8th Scale 2.4Ghz Exceed RC MaxStone 4WD Powerful Electric Remote Control Rock Crawler 100% RTR," should be restocked every 4 to 6 weeks.(what a drag ), and to check the website frequently, as it is updated daily. i hope this helped anyone like me that is trying to purchase this WONDERFUL RC! good luck guys..fingers crossed.
Have you tried a droop suspension setup? I just think it would look and run better. Also I think you should make a DIY 4 wheel steering video, but use this build to show us, you know because its just so big and it would be a first
I know it's a crawler but, I'd love to see you convert it into a true monster truck considering its 1/5 scale now & it has two motors it'd be awesome to see what you can extend its fullest potential of monster truck badass where no other vehicle has gone!

I like the Nitro RC Crawler...But i prefer the Ladder type frame with drive shafts. If Nitro RC could make something like that and offer 1/5th modern(Ford,Chevy,Dodge)pickup truck bodies...That'd be Sweet!!!!
so i paid for my MaxStone 8 today, dude i'm all pumped up. Of course i sold another truck after i placed my order, but now i'm ordering all the stuff to go big 1/5 scale. Any 1/5 follow ups? Keep up the awesome videos. Very glad to have found you!
7 years ago and today im bizzy with the same project with my 8 year old.EPIC
Good work. Getting people hooked on our great hobby and having fun is the key and this so gets people into it all.
Just love how you do RC the way you want.
you dont need to think that its boring for people thats not building when watching this video its still really entertaning and it helps me learn so thankyou and stay an addict

You cannot find anything on the market under 200 bucs, so 300 for this monster.. that's sweet deal man! RESPECT for all the work you do!

the cool thing about this is that you probably could do this with some other rock crawlers with the same layout! awesome job medic!
Thank you so much for posting this. I've always want to get into RC crawling but I never could afford them. So this can help me jump into the Crawler seen. Thank you again

Now that they came out with the 5th scale maxstone. Can you put two 1/5 scale chassis together?
Fantastic job Medic. Very creative way to stay within budget and make something a little different and cool. Thank you sir.

300 dollars is a small amount of money for that rc you built there!I just love that car!-nice work there! keep that way

That thing is sweet! Love the green ano'd parts. I would run 550-555 motors, way more bottom-end than 540's. Definitely not a bad price point either!
WOW That truck is HUGE!! sweet crawler!!
Daaamn i just bought another rc. And now is saw this video of you again. Well guess im gonna save for this one then. Luv ur videos

Nice job I love ur work. Wish I had ur job ... I own the mgt 4.60 had it for 7years now .
This is a SWEET crawler but they are all out of stock everywhere i look. That conversion is radical
Have you tried a droop suspension setup? I just think it would look and run better. Also I think you should make a DIY 4 wheel steering video, but use this build to show us, you know because its just so big and it would be a first
Great idea, especially for the price. I like the green aluminum. NYce.
cool vids, never really been into RC but these videos are making me want 1
I know it's a crawler but, I'd love to see you convert it into a true monster truck considering its 1/5 scale now & it has two motors it'd be awesome to see what you can extend its fullest potential of monster truck badass where no other vehicle has gone!
finally !!... budget build!!
This is going to be my first real rc. I was thinking about a 2wd traxxas slash that was the same price but i needed a log crawler everything else was out of price range or 2wd witch i wanted a 4wd so thank you
These new videos are looking great!
I am going to build one and bash it! Just having trouble locating the body on the site. Thanks for showing us this.
medic I absolutely bloody love this, such a simple build to get an awesome looking crawler, I've been looking at these large scale crawlers, think I know what route I'll be going lol
Flawless, finally people are realizing that all the cheap "no-name" brand cars are not as "cheap" as once thought

hey medic that is a fantastic giant truck
nice one medic, this will to frikkn awsome to see. cheers man.
That would make an awsome king sling replica!
Wow that thing is sick! Makes me tempted to build one for the sake of having a true monster! But for now I'll just let the trail honcho create a hole in my wallet rather than both :P Great video as always!
Great idea Medic... i am tempted.

Really great videos man, I am just getting into rc and your videos have taught me a lot. So thank you! Cheers

I must admit I like NitroRCX. I was looking for an inexpensive car to start drifting with and I ended up getting an brush less drift-star from NitroRCX.com. The thing is surprisingly durable and fast I love it!
I like the Nitro RC Crawler...But i prefer the Ladder type frame with drive shafts. If Nitro RC could make something like that and offer 1/5th modern(Ford,Chevy,Dodge)pickup truck bodies...That'd be Sweet!!!!
awsome truck . loved the video really helped me with my project
so i paid for my MaxStone 8 today, dude i'm all pumped up. Of course i sold another truck after i placed my order, but now i'm ordering all the stuff to go big 1/5 scale. Any 1/5 follow ups? Keep up the awesome videos. Very glad to have found you!
