      @@KenDBerryMD Dr. Berry what is the next illness that may be in the future for someone with anxiety, depression, Thyroid numbers off (still in low normal range), PCOS, low energy, & back acne? It seems like the illnesses are compounding quickly. This person has started the Keto diet, but I do not want them to be discouraged or to add another illness to this list.

    When they noticed I was no longer limping. Keto
    The rosacea and occasion pimple now gone. Keto
    Weird little pimples on my shoulders gone. Keto
    Improved mood. Keto.

    I recently learned that the very coconut oil I now cook with is an excellent makeup remover and skin moisturizer for all types of skin. I also learned about witch hazel as a facial toner and gentle but effective way to zap skin bumps. I have been using 5 products religiously for a month since I wear makeup most days now. Results? Irritated facial skin with some pink blemishes. Stopped all of these expensive products and using the 2 mentioned above as well as the ketogenic diet. Excited to see what happens and save well over a hundred bucks a month on just skin care for my face.

    I am an L.E. and I agree. D.M.’s approach to acne is topical or oral antibiotics that can cause photosensitivity, dry skin, gut imbalance, and thinner skin. Accutane (Isotretinoins) which is banned in other countries are another extreme. The approach is not preventative and they do not deal with nutrition (androgen hormone in teens), OR skin care. I’ve had D.M.’s recommend alkaline soaps.(ph higher than 7... skins ph ranges 5 to 5.5 or 6 spectrum)!!!??? Fatty acids are a must and I’d been preaching EVO. The skin does digest it unlike other oils whose molecular structure is too large. EVO is full of vitamin E, it has oleic acids and is full of antioxidants (it’s a fruit) and it moisturizes the skin. It also can be used to pull other toxins, dirt and extra oils from your skin if used as a PRE cleanser/makeup remover, applying it with a tissue or soft cloth, then wiped away. EVO can also reverse UV damage. My skin literally craves it in the winter here in Chicago. I recommend it to all skin types, even acne/oil types in small amounts. All skin requires moisturizing. ALL!

    I am so disheartened as since I have started keto/low carb 8 moths ago, o developed acbe all over my face, neck, back and chest… it leaves really ugly marks and I’m already dreading the thought of summer cloths… I have always stayed clear of high fat dairy products before but, on this new life style, double cream and cheese are a go to on a daily basis almost. Could this be the reason why? I drink plenty of water with lemon and acv daily to flush my system and I don’t think this is my body adjusting as it has been 8 months now and pretty much my acne broke early on… might have to give up on this diet as I’m 41 and look like a teenager again…

    Can't eat veggies due to an autoimmune condition, literally can no longer go to the bathroom with veggies and fruit. Been to the hospital as well and I bleed. So I have been on the Carnivore diet for a while because it seems to be the only practice that I no longer bloated on, had clear thought and my mood swings where non existent. If I have a veggie boom bloated and I can't go to the bathroom for a couple weeks. I drink lots of water and just doesn't help. So will carnivore clear my skin up?

      What purpose is the soy milk in your life? Keto has 4 main food avoidances other than carbs, due to they are highly inflammatory: processed seed oils, SOY, wheat and corn. Of course in a low carb setting, insulin lowers and removal of highly inflammatory foods is important.

    I just started keto, it's been 12 days. I've suffered from acne since teen years I'm now 35 and seemed like it had it under control. Had occasional breakouts right before that time of the month. But since I started this diet my face has seemed to get dry where it looks scaly. Along with breakouts. Would it go away? What can I do to get rid of it? Are there certain keto foods/supplements you recommend?

    A few times a year my teenage daughter gets cold sores around her mouth. Doctors really just prescribed an ointment for when the outbreaks happen. Could you do a video on this and explain it? Will a better diet help?

    • @KenDBerryMD
      @KenDBerryMD  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Those cold sores occur when her body is stressed and getting sick. Anything that reduces stress and inflammation in her body will decrease the chances of her getting sick, therefore will reduce the likelyhood of her getting cold sores.

    Hey Ken! I have a pregnancy question that I hope you can answer!!
    Love your TH-cam channel. I’ve learned a ton so thanks a lot.
    I am currently 18 weeks pregnant, and I follow mostly a paleo style diet. I am struggling with terrible acne during the pregnancy. (Probably mostly bc of food aversions and slipping off my diet during the 1st trimester.) For the past 3 weeks or so I have been incorporating tons of quality red meat (beef/lamb). I throw in about two servings of organic fruit per day. I am super convinced that I will feel amazing and the carnivore diet is really what my body needs. I am skeptical to make the transition during pregnancy. Would you recommend I do so now or wait until I begin breastfeeding? Also, a bodybuilder/trainer put me on Metformin for blood sugar and anti aging benefits. (500mg/day) I am currently still on it but I want to come off especially since my diet is low carb now and I heard it’s not studied well during pregnancy. Can I stop the Metformin?

    • @KenDBerryMD

      Five years later, but maybe this will help someone. Diet of course is the biggest factor. Here are some others things that helped my hubby: 1) a good safety razor. Cartridge razors are much more irritating. 2) unscented shave cream. 3) do not use any aftershave or toner with alcohol.
