Thanks for this. I’ve been on keto for 7 months and enjoy fresh full fat cream from our local cheese factory here in the Swiss alps. I enjoy approximately 5 black teas with a generous splash of this during the day. Wards off hunger and is very satisfying. However, I suspect it could be the cause of not seeing any loss of inches on this diet yet. So I have stopped all cream for 2 weeks to see if it makes a difference. The reason is until I turned 15 i was allergic to all dairy because it caused my chronic asthma. After two weeks still nothing is moving ... my question is do you see a link between an allergy as I was young and problems tolerating it in keto now (im 41). Thanks for your consideration.

Everyone who ever lived in a free range farm or nearby, knows that whole these videos on dairy products are seen with the eye of some people under hysteria. There is a problem with lots of dairy farms within USA... dairy injected with growth hormones and processed foods used to feed dairy animals which are exposing human health to a lot of risks. Some signs of it tried to spread in Europe too, but hopefully we will keep resisting to it, which i wish USA does it too.
Free range and farm products that are not treated with DNA engineering methods are healthy and are the last hope people have to live a healthy life in harmony with the nature's rhythm and without need to run on daily supplements to cover food deficiencies.

Old Ptevention magazines from then had diet advice in line with the flawed and biased Ancel Keyes study that said carbs were good and all fats were unhealthy. Here's something that people should think about when drinking skim milk. When I was growing up we had one cow on our farm just for the house, making butter, ice cream, cottage cheese and whole milk, but we always gave the skim milk to the pigs we were raising and they would gain so much faster drinking the skim milk that we'd sell those hogs months before the other hogs that were just raised on grain, the skim milk is fattening with a lot of sugar, that's why we gave it to the pigs, to get them to market faster.

We were a chocolate-loving family, so my uncle, who ran the farm and the milk route, would drink an entire quart of raw chocolate milk on a break. He is now 93. I think most negative effects of milk people experience come from the processing of industrial milk. There is actually no difference between no-fat, low-fat, semi-fat or full-fat UHT milk. All are made from mixing processed milk fat & protein powders with water. Then they add worse quality corn syrup sugar to those that they call "lactose-free", or add different vitamins or omega-3's etc to those that they call "enhanced". It is 100% laboratory stuff. Not to forget all the chemicals that makes sure it doesn't go bad fast. All the antibiotics which they add to the original milk sources since they receive milk from tens of thousands of cows and they cannot ensure they are all fully healthy and not sick.
If you have access to raw milk from a single cow (or few cows max) which you personally know is healthy, that is in my opinion one of the best sources of nutrition. No other food beats it.

Started 4 months ago with Keto, coming off of 6 months of a vegan plan. I had lost a few lbs but needed to lose almost 50 to be accepted for knee replacement surgery. I hit a wall with Keto - almost not losing any weight no matter how religious I was about adhering to that diet. So decided to research intermittent fasting with Keto. Bought the best scientific based book, studied the science behind fasting, and watched Dr. Berry's You Tube videos. Since I was already off sugar and carbs of any kind - I had no problem physically adjusting to 16 to 24 hour fasts twice a week. I also do aqua fit classes 3 times a week. I am now almost at the required weight for surgery. After the surgery, I need to drop another 50 lbs to get to a healthy goal weight. I have also been able to stop my asthma meds, and I have lose about 2 lbs a week consistently. I sleep much better, my skin is healthier, my big belly is half the size it was when I started - I can actually bend over all the way to the floor now. I am 74 years old.

I am just now hitting Keto flu with only coffee, cream, and meat for the last few days. My A1C a year ago was 12. I have been working on lowering it since. BP is better. But still feeling like crap so I went full Carnivore. Not even eating my pistachios. My steak sauce is salt and pepper and sesame oil. I am going to get healthy. I started Keto in March 2018, but not confidently because I didn’t know that doing my best wasn’t good enough.I did lose about 25 lbs, but then my 93-yr-old mother -in-law moved in with us in July. Gradually Keto went out the window because everything has revolved around her and keeping her happy (and hopefully pleasant). I gained back the weight and feel so ill (also diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis in 2012). We announced to her on Sunday that we would continue to eat with her but we were no longer going to eat the Sam way she eats. It involved fireworks and tears and drama, but we (my spouse and I) are holding firm to take care of ourselves. The videos I’ve seen so far are very informational and encouraging. Thank you for doing this! Happy Holidays! We just ate Wheat Belly focaccia bread with cream cheese, capers, red onions and smoked salmon for Christmas breakfast.yes, we say with my MIL while she ate her instant oatmeal, cereal bar and black coffee. (No, we can’t change her. She’s 93 and it’s her way or the highway.) Thank you again.❤️🎁🎄

but she has lived to the age of 93, what she is doing/eating, can't be that bad.

    • @candiedginger8729
      @candiedginger8729 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@gwenbuchanan1 93 years ago food was very different, she most likely ate what we would call a Whole Foods Diet until she was an adult, with sugar foods as a festival/holiday treat. So, a conservative guess would be she has only been eating crap foods for about 50 years.
We can't compare the health of one generation to that of the next without taking their food timeline into account.
Best of luck with your MIL. My dad and my husband's parents are all aware of keto and follow (or not) some version of it. I don't think my grandparents would have ever changed the way they eat if it weren't because food was killing them, and even then my grandmother's both strongly resisted the change.

I make homemade kefir using whole milk. No added sugar. We love it. I also use it as a base for smoothies.
You just need some kefir seeds to get started. Look for someone who can share some with you or order some online. Put about a tsp in a pint jar. Add whole milk to almost fill the jar. Cover with a coffee filter and screw on a jar ring. Let it sit on your kitchen counter for about 24 hours out until it thickens. Those works faster in warm weather and slower in cold weather. Then strain the kefir into a clean bowl. Put the seeds back into your jar and begin your new batch. Put the strained kefir into a fresh jar, cover and refrigerate until you're ready to drink it. You can use it in place of buttermilk too.

Many years ago, in Finland, I was introduced to leipauusto, which translates to "bread cheese." It's a baked cheese made from reindeer, goat or cow's milk right after they've given birth. In Finland, it's about 14-18% fat. I loved it a lot and hoped to figure out a way to get some after coming back to the US. I never did get to try and make some, but eventually, 3 years ago, found a packaged cheese from Wisconsin in my local grocery store called Juusto, and it tastes almost the same, although it seems to be lower in fat. I've been eating a 2 oz slice of this cheese almost every morning for breakfast (or afternoon, if I skip breakfast).

Hi Dr. Berry , I'm from Australia and have been watching ,learning about carnivore from you for about 4 months now and have never felt better and have lost about 8kg. So thank you for enlightening us all to the truth about food , what's good and what's not . I love dairy and usually have A2 milk which doesn't have the A1 protein which causes all the gut issues. But after watching this , I think I will start using cream in my coffee and tea. 😊. Thank you for all your advice in your videos !!

Thank you for this video. It makes so much sense and probably explains a lot about my health issues as a teen. I was brought up to believe that milk was THE food source and we would drink mugs of it - at home and at boarding school. Although it was full-fat, we obviously drank way too much. I suffered from boils in junior school and cystic acne all the way through high school. My last year of high school was the worst - I had tests for glandular fever, IBS, barium meal x-rays for ulcers and so many other tests to find out why I had constant joint pain, brain fog, lethargy and crippling stomach pain. All tests were negative. I believe now that my entire body was battling inflammation but 30 or so years ago no doctor checked the cause behind the boils or acne - they just prescribed lotions, potions and pills. I have been following the ketogenic principles for a month now and have ditched milk for heavy cream in coffee. All the changes to my mindset about eating and the foods I now consume have made a drastic improvement to my overall health. Your advice and knowledge is straight up and to the point.

I use cream and plain yogurt, you did covered on the cream part but i still have a questions on whether i should continue with the plain yogurt or not, its really helped keeping me stable.

No, there has always been an abundance of milk consumed in the UK. It was given free to schoolchildren and recognised as an important food source until the 1970s. The problems with 'intolerances' has more to do with intensive farming methods and food processing.
