The Film Poets Yeah I suspected it, as you said, the fact that you're able to achieve such a shot by yourself, without any crew, only with your setup is definitly a real selling point, both for the Ronin S and 1DX2 (well, price set aside ^^)

I think the Sony users don't understand how valuable that feature is.....especially at a wedding! I love my 1DX Mark II and 5D Mark IV. The focus system is crazy good!
Jason Belkov - How do you find the AF compares between your 1DX2 and 5D4? In particular, do you ever use the FlexiZone Large Area AF (which the 1DX2 doesn't have as it just has the small area)?

Hey Tom, I can't say that it's made anything faster for me, since everything that I wanted to be smooth I'd shoot on the Ronin-M - But if you're coming from shooting handheld then that might be the case, especially if you're spending time finding the least shaky shots and applying post-stabilization etc. -Matt

This is the first review I see that it is not only based in user day to day experience but have a lot of tips and tricks. It has answered questions I didn't know I had. Really great review and info. I picked up the original Ronin not long after release and it's been amazing ONCE I figured out my preferred settings. It's great to see someone break down the configuration options you get with the app because there's so much customization there to make the Ronin work for you personally. The M, MX and 2 never tempted me, but the S has got me ready for an upgrade!
@The Film Poets, to fix the manfrotto plate issue really simply... (I do this with my Ronin M), attach one of your flat Manfrotto quick releases to the DJI plate. then never take the DJI plate out, always release from your Manfrotto quick release. The weight is minimal and it allows you to quickly swap your camera to your slider for very low shots, or whatever you need. This also allows me to add marks to my plate for my camera for lenses I use so I can super quickly balance the gimbal. Hope this helps!
great video and love that you included mentioning your smooth track settings! I have several travel jobs where size and weight are major concern. i would love to use the ronin-s on those jobs!

The Ronin-S looks like a gift from God and as a complete but passionate noob in videography and still working hard to get my first professional looking video online, this would take my current setup and work to the next level. Being able to touch the screen to focus on the back of the Canon is pure gold!

Doesn't Sony offer the same option? I can touch focus my Sony.
ekphotography The Canon touch focus is much better and more accurate. From having both cameras the Canon is way more reliable.

This is the first review I see that it is not only based in user day to day experience but have a lot of tips and tricks. It has answered questions I didn't know I had. Been saving a few bucks here and there and hope that when it becomes available here in my country (Panamá 🇵🇦) in a couple of months I can afford it. Though making the motion with my cellphone and maybe buy an OSMO2... but then what is the purppose of my camera.. Thanks again!!

Really great review and info. I picked up the original Ronin not long after release and it's been amazing ONCE I figured out my preferred settings. It's great to see someone break down the configuration options you get with the app because there's so much customization there to make the Ronin work for you personally. The M, MX and 2 never tempted me, but the S has got me ready for an upgrade!

@The Film Poets, to fix the manfrotto plate issue really simply... (I do this with my Ronin M), attach one of your flat Manfrotto quick releases to the DJI plate. then never take the DJI plate out, always release from your Manfrotto quick release. The weight is minimal and it allows you to quickly swap your camera to your slider for very low shots, or whatever you need. This also allows me to add marks to my plate for my camera for lenses I use so I can super quickly balance the gimbal. Hope this helps!
