Season 1: What if everything was on a belt? Season 2: What if T H E V O I D prevented vertical expansion? Season 3: What if the base was an actual macroorganism? Season 4: What if the engineer was under strict rules from a higher power that enforced technological crafting? Season 5: What if multidimensional quantum space itself was something to be turned into More Factory? Never change, Zisteau
And just to to complete this, how to get these number from ingame tooltips: A single pump produces 1200 water/s A single boiler gives 1.8 MW A single steam engine consumes 30 water/s and 900 kW So we end up with the 1:20:30 (pump:boiler:steam engine) and 1:2 (boiler:engine) ratio. RTFM* (*read tooltip) ;)
Zisteau, now in 0.15 you can feed science packs to Labs from Labs via inserters (like rows of boilers feeding coal to rows of boilers in old versions). So you only need to give one Lab all 7 science packs and then have a chain of labs each grabbing from the one before.
NEW FACTORIO SERIES! I'm so excited! Your first Factorio series is how I found you (and actually Factorio too) in the first place! Been watching ever since. Keep it up
Hey Zisteau! I know I don't comment much but I have been following/watching your content FOREVER! I love what you do. Please keep up the awesome, hard work! :P (edited because typing is hard)
Reddit Factorio Subreddit has a rule ;no island starts: more fool them, this looks awesome. Great start, nice 'tedium editing' so we the audience don't waste time with the drudgery, and THUMBS UP for showing how to set up smelters properly. :) .15 is pretty good, and I look forward to the continuation of this series.
YES!!! I've been waiting for you to start playing modded and start .15. This is like a dream come true. I like your mod selection! I will definitely be trying mk 3 power armor and alien biomes. Factorissimo is awesome.
Yo Zisteau! Love your content! I'm sure you've thought about this, and it probably won't apply for a while yet, but don't forget to reserve a ton of stone for the landbridge! It would suck to realize you've made too much concrete and accidentally sealed yourself on the island forever :)
Yes, YES YEEEEES Omg I knew it! It's gonna be so glorious. You and this mod, that's synergy right there! (Always wanted to use that word in a useful way) Can't wait to see what kind of awesome stuff you can achieve with this mod.
Great video, also, power pole auto-placing now takes into account power coverage, so if you just run wile pressing left click everything will be powered, it's awesome.
A few quality of life changes in this patch you might be interested in. 1) You can now pull out of the science labs so you can now stack them like you did the old style boilers. 2) There is now a "eyedropper" tool, it works like minecraft's middle click. Check your keybinding for the button.
About Facotory nesting: You can put as many factories inside your factories as you want, there is absolutly no number limit. The only thing limited are the type of factory, based on whether you got recursion 1 (allows smaller into largerd ones) or 2 (also allows in same size).
You should really read it guy. It's a series of books from Frank Herbert set in a fictionnal future in which great political schemes are made to take control of a planet and its main ressource that everybody in the galaxy wants. One of the greatest sci fi story, really.
I was playing on the new patch with my friends. He asked when we could have robots. I looked at logistics robots and said "It's only red and green!" Then he asked what logistics system was. It was all the science packs apart from space. Factorio you troll.
Z, the numbers you're looking for in-game are: Boiler Energy Consumption: 1.8 MW. Steam Engine Energy Production: 0.9 MW. Watch for those numbers when you hit the Nuclear Era. :)
Make sure you save enough stone to build a bridge to the main land, I'd hate for you to end up using it all and then realize you don't have any to leave the island with.
Great video! A small tip for the science labs.. They can take items through each other, so you can make all 4 belts (7 research packs) go to one lab and the branch out to two and then three etc.. Works like a charm. O O O O O O
Hey you took my idea! Sweet. You better not give up after 3 videos or something like that. Also I have an idea for a "challenge mode" for this series. You can only build 1 bridge every 5 episodes.
"Factorio is the mind killer. Factorio is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my Factorio. I will build conveyor belts to let it launch rockets over me and through me. And when it has mined everything I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the Factorio has gone there will be nothing. Only my huge base will remain." I don't know what I expected, but this is alright too
the recursive limit in factorissimo is electricity, not number of recursive factories. each factory has a limit on how much electricity it can consume per tick, so additional factories inside the overworld factory quickly bottlenecks electricity
Dang it. I literally recorded all weekend to start up a new series that is a small island and uses Factorissimo to fit it all on the island. How did you know? ;)
Regarding the steam engines: Look at the 'Energy Consumption' values on the boilers and the engines to figure out the ratio. (Consider the value on the boilers to be 'how much energy do I produce in steam'.)
at some point every plant and every tree on our planet earth was actually purple rather than green because the green color comes from the Chlorophyll in leaves and such which absorbs specific wavelengths of light leaving only the frequencies our eyes see as green. At some point in the far past leaves didn´t use Chlorophyll but instead used Retinal for photosynthesis which absorbed everything but red and violet which makes purple. So long story short purple trees are actually not really alien but instead a vision of our past.
I stumbled upon an island world like this once...except I deemed it unworkable. Think I still have a save from there, though. Might be interesting to take another look at.
With first versions of Factorissimo it wouldn't even be a challenge to build a megabase on that island of yours. I suspect that's still the case. Are you planning to do marathon difficulty series at some point? A surprising thing i've found out about is that it actually changes some ratios, thus opening up opportunities for new setups. But in general it's a pain :)
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” - Dune
ooohoohoo, Refactorissimo all over again, only without Angel's, Bob's, and the RSO. Yeah, Boilers:Steam Engines are 1:2, though, you know someone'll refine that even further.
Honestly, I was more referencing quill18's playthrough, more than Steejo and Arumba's Half-Hour Programming. Though, to be fair, I at least found it enlightening on HOW to program inside a program(game).
I am going to try to follow the series on the map, it looks fun, however I am a noob and I spent a good hour installing the mods and at least another hour to understand the world generation :D. But I got there at the end. and now, some sleep... :D :D :D :D
And this is supposed to be just quick Season to explore the 0.15 pack before going full modded.
'Survival Island' - Factorio edition, just waiting for the sea of flames ;)
great idea Zisteau, thanks for the new Factorio series :)
Well there ARE flamethrowers ...
1 pump : 20 boilers : 40 steam engines
Also to make it clearer its: 1 boiler : 2 steam engines
Yeah, 1 boiler to 2 steam engines, and 1 pump to 20 boilers.
And just to to complete this, how to get these number from ingame tooltips:
A single pump produces 1200 water/s
A single boiler gives 1.8 MW
A single steam engine consumes 30 water/s and 900 kW
So we end up with the 1:20:30 (pump:boiler:steam engine) and 1:2 (boiler:engine) ratio.
RTFM*
(*read tooltip)
;)
Yeah I think the confusing part is that the boiler says "energy consumption: 1.8 mw" instead of production. So it isn't obvious at first.
well it consumes 1.8MW of chemical/thermal/whatever energy to allow the steam engines to produce 1.8MW of Electrical energy
Zisteau, now in 0.15 you can feed science packs to Labs from Labs via inserters (like rows of boilers feeding coal to rows of boilers in old versions). So you only need to give one Lab all 7 science packs and then have a chain of labs each grabbing from the one before.
That. is. awesome. Thanks for sharing!
The Ore must flow.
Lavaflow what do you mean with that
Peace among factories, Rick.

Hey Zisteau! I know I don't comment much but I have been following/watching your content FOREVER! I love what you do. Please keep up the awesome, hard work! :P (edited because typing is hard)
I love the idea for this series. I binged most of the Meiosis series and absolutely loved that idea as well. Thanks for all the good entertainment.

The rule is actually "No inescapable island spawn posts".
If there is means to escape the island, then its fine.
:) Tongue was firmly in cheek, I assure you.
Alright. Guess it's the classical case of the finer details in the language that doesn't turn up in written text. :)
Cheers!
It is 1 boiler to 2 engines
I subscribed to Zisteau primarily for its Factorio series; I'm most pleased !
YES!!! I've been waiting for you to start playing modded and start .15. This is like a dream come true. I like your mod selection! I will definitely be trying mk 3 power armor and alien biomes. Factorissimo is awesome.

Who else was thinking: "Holy shit is that Tiberium?" at the start?
Best description ever. Reminds me of Atlas in No Man's Sky -- but good.
thanx for putting your videos into a playlist! it makes binge watching to catchup easier! :D
Wow factorio looks so different 5 years ago I remember loving this series back in the day 😂😂
Good to see you back at Factorio!
Cheers from Reddit!
I wish I could could give extra likes for the video description
AlabasterJazz I don't get the reference, full explanation?
It's a quote from Dune, except replacing the word Fear with the word Factorio.
abaljeu that's pretty good. please don't hurt me, but what's dune?
You should really read it guy. It's a series of books from Frank Herbert set in a fictionnal future in which great political schemes are made to take control of a planet and its main ressource that everybody in the galaxy wants. One of the greatest sci fi story, really.
Belga rion i do like scifi
Loving the Dune Reference in your video description, Zisteau.
-_I'll Be Watching, Friend._

very excited for this series! thanks
YES! I've been waiting for this. :)
I am so excited for this series now.
Loving the Dune quote in the desc.
Omg a new Zisteau factorio series!
science packs can be transferred from lab to lab by inserter.
Thus its enough to feed one lab by belt and daisy chain the labs behind.
Z, the numbers you're looking for in-game are: Boiler Energy Consumption: 1.8 MW. Steam Engine Energy Production: 0.9 MW. Watch for those numbers when you hit the Nuclear Era. :)
A male Bene Gesserit?
Could it really be?
The Kwisatz Haderach?
His name has become a killing word.
I'm liking the alien world tile set. Gonna give that a try.
Make sure you save enough stone to build a bridge to the main land, I'd hate for you to end up using it all and then realize you don't have any to leave the island with.
- "He who controls the conveyor belt controls the universe."
Great video!

O
O O
O O O
Lol you probably already spend half of my total playtime on this episode. Your "simple starter setup" is pretty much my endgame setup.
If I hadn't liked already, I would've after that Doctor Who reference!
Hey you took my idea! Sweet. You better not give up after 3 videos or something like that. Also I have an idea for a "challenge mode" for this series. You can only build 1 bridge every 5 episodes.
Nice reference in the video description :)

I don't know what I expected, but this is alright too
How do you start on that cool little island? :O
Indeed i am looking forward to the next episode
Love the Dune reference.
Great to see a new series again. 🤓
that square weird looking pond definitely looks like texas
- "There is no real ending. It's just the place where you stop the story."
-Frank Herbert, 1969
the recursive limit in factorissimo is electricity, not number of recursive factories. each factory has a limit on how much electricity it can consume per tick, so additional factories inside the overworld factory quickly bottlenecks electricity
MilesNocte how?
MilesNocte Ok, thanks for the info.
Indeed, factorissimo 2 added lots of cool stuff :D
Ha, that description is deep.
Water shouldn't be a problem in this series.
That weird looking lake kind of looks like texas
In case you didn't know the click-drag works for unpowered items too. I noticed that you where individually placing power poles.
This looks really cool
YAY NEW SERIES!!!
Dang it. I literally recorded all weekend to start up a new series that is a small island and uses Factorissimo to fit it all on the island. How did you know? ;)
Also, there should be energy condensers that take a 💩 ton of energy, but create any material instantly.
Let's see. Outserter... = Extractor I think.
Yay i love factorio but when are you going to be uploading new vids for the seris?
"There is Factorio the likes even God has not seen"
Factorio season 5 HYPE!!
Regarding the steam engines: Look at the 'Energy Consumption' values on the boilers and the engines to figure out the ratio. (Consider the value on the boilers to be 'how much energy do I produce in steam'.)
Theres a QOL mod for Even Distribution its very nice

YEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!!! So much pleasure
You should try to fit everything into 1 building at the end.
I really think that in the end his entire island will be covered in buildings :D
I dub the starting area 'baseball island'.
With first versions of Factorissimo it wouldn't even be a challenge to build a megabase on that island of yours.

Me thinks you make have trouble with the amount of ore you have.
That's why he's gonna build a bridge to get more ore and bring it in with trains later. :P
out-serters are definitely a thing now XD
ooohoohoo, Refactorissimo all over again, only without Angel's, Bob's, and the RSO.
Yeah, Boilers:Steam Engines are 1:2, though, you know someone'll refine that even further.
And especially without AAI Programmable vehicles.
Honestly, I was more referencing quill18's playthrough, more than Steejo and Arumba's Half-Hour Programming.
Though, to be fair, I at least found it enlightening on HOW to program inside a program(game).
programming inside a program is like building a factory inside a factory, funny how AAI is like factorissimo
facTOOOORIOOO!!!
Plus: survival island return? Recently went back and rewatched that series.
What would happen of all the ore was gone?
there is a quary mod I recommend you get just in case you run out of recourses
Outserters is a word now.
have you ever thought of doing a beginners let's play or tips and tricks
map exchange string did not work i guess
Tiberium! Finally!
I am going to try to follow the series on the map, it looks fun, however I am a noob and I spent a good hour installing the mods and at least another hour to understand the world generation :D. But I got there at the end.
and now, some sleep... :D :D :D :D
Wow your power.... 1 pump supplies 20 boilers, 2 steam engines per 1 boiler.
Also, do you have the nuclear bots mod?
Hey do you know seed of island map?
map seed please?
sorry im late a bit
factorissimo!!! YAAAS
for science try to pick from the lab to the next lab
hey Zisteau, over on the etho reddit people are talking about etho joining you on the next series. any thoughts?
YAAAAAAAAASSS
Qual é sua cid no jogo ?
Is there aliens on the island I don't seem to see any
MilesNocte thanks
yesssss factorissimo
HEALLLLLLL YEAH‼️😭‼️
Zisteau, in all your time playing Factorio you've never learned how to read the power window?! :D
I can send you some screenshots of factorissimo setups if you're interested, I had a bit of a play around with it using a 0.15 simulation modpack.
Zisteau Muad'dib
Limited resources? Once you use all resources what are you gonna do?
like he said in the beginnign he will prob make a land bridge and get the rest per train in
3 boilers to 5 engines for me
pls more of this
