I tried this last year for the first time. It worked great!! We had the last of what was in the freezer 2 weeks ago, and we are getting ready to put up another bushel this year, we did not like cooking it in the oven, but we just toughed it out ,husked it and boiled it for 10 minuets. Tasted like the day we picked it. Thanks for a great tip Jnull!!!!!
ps. I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which means my joints are weak and so my little tip to eating corn on the cob is..... I cut it with a large bread knife right off the cob before cooking. I feed the husk to my guinea pig. Then I put all the pieces of corn in a pan and saute. It's so crunchy and fabulous! And so easy to eat!
OMG, being raised on a hog farm all my childhood and harvesting loads of sweet corn, I cannot believe that I've never seen or heard of this before. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome info.
Thank you jnull!! Almost time to plant corn 'in whatever part of the world I am in' (Australia). Last year I tried out canning for the first time (big success) but this year I will do this too! Never heard of this before.
I was told to lay off oils of all kinds, [butter too]. So I just put a little salt on my corn and you'd never believe it. The corn tastes sweeter. yummy.
Thanks, this is perfect. Corn is now in at a local farm stand(has the best corn I've found around) ad picked up my first dozen this morning. I have dried kernels and it was ok but never great. This is a game changer, especially now I have a chest freezer with some open space. Going to do a test run this week but now I know what I will be doing when I go back for more.
Been hearing about this but haven't tried it. I definitely will now. We love our corn, and I love eating it the Mexican way with mayo, parmesan cheese and chile. 😄
April W I've never seen this method before! You mentioned Mexican Street Corn and I wanted to offer you visiting my channel to see how I tried a new method of preparing Street Corn off the cob! We had never had it before and are new converts! BLESSINGS!
April- that is thee best way to eat corn. I love it sautéed with red onion, bell pepper, tomato & little chunks of cheese. Yummo!!! I think it's called succotash.
Thank you for the great suggestion! We bought 3 dozen ears from the farm down the road and froze them just as you suggested. Can't wait to have delicious corn on the cob this winter :-D
We live in “The Great White North”. Mid August we like to travel to lower Ontario and buy “real” corn from farmers fields...lol. Just bought 3 dozen for hubby and me....going give it a whirl! Hopefully, you’re next video shows “how to”cook it. Many peeps say that baking in the oven makes it tough. I went too far to buy corn and then eat it and tastes tough like pigs corn. Thanks for the info!
thanks for this. i found a good price on corn locally, and i was thinking this would work, but was not sure. then i remembered how helpful your videos have been in the past when i did some tanning and leather working, and i thought "he seems like a guy that would know a good easy way to freeze a lot of corn", and i was right. i hope you keep making videos, because they are always about things im interested in.
I guess I don't know much about gardening. Somehow I thought corn was harvested in September. Around here it's usually shipped in from somewhere else. Great labor saving tip! (:
A question....what about any bugs that might be under the husks. Sometimes you just know they are there till you husk it. Frozen year old bug on my corn don't sound to yummy
Just did 2 bags (10 doz) this weekend but we always blanch, cut and Ziplock . . . It saves a lot of room in the Freezer. We did corn on the cob like this and then harvested 3 deer 3 months later and it was a TIGHT FIT . . . I have since bought ANOTHER Big Freezer AND a Smaller one . . . Which leads to this Question . . . Do you Can ALL of your Meat ??? Your older Vids you cut some off the cob . . . Do you still do both ways or does it just depend on how busy you are at the time ??? God Bless Dude . . .
I wasn't sure if they'd make it in time. I think I was a day late. I remember you'd had mentioned how much you liked them on your fishing channel and then again just the other day. But anyways, rambling on here, Happy Belated Birthday!!!
HI... I like your videos and love food. I have to be on a low histamine diet so I was searching for videos about corn and potatoes and found yours! So my question is.... do you just stick the cob right in the freezer or use a freezer bag?
lineflyer1 Not here in SC. This year the farm I buy fro. are charging 5.00 for a dozen. I do not buy from grocery store because corn will turn to starch rather quickly. I put up same morning it is picked.
Thank you again, John. You are missed.
Of all the years I've been doing it the hard way. Thank you very much John!

I was told to lay off oils of all kinds, [butter too]. So I just put a little salt on my corn and you'd never believe it. The corn tastes sweeter. yummy.

That's my kind of don't fuss too much..
juno how long do they last like that?
He mentioned near the end of the video. 1+ years.
Yep, like Wanderer said, I have kept them for a year and still good....................J
You do realize ears of corn are like $ 2 to $3 for 10 of them.
lineflyer1 Not here in SC. This year the farm I buy fro. are charging 5.00 for a dozen. I do not buy from grocery store because corn will turn to starch rather quickly. I put up same morning it is picked.
lineflyer1 I put up with husk on Cobb but I do put in freezer bags to keep them all together.Saves space in my freezer.
You can't get fresh corn year round. Freezing it is a great way to save some.
