Pink is a gorgeous colour on you Rachael. Your gingham dress will be perfect! It's been so fun to see your quilt coming together - what a fantastic skill builder that series is! I can't wait to see what happens next! 💕
I think the pom-poms do a fine job of rescuing the hospital gown and rendering it wearable - it will look fresh and pretty on the beach! The new fabrics are exciting and the quilting is going so well! I have not ventured into quilting but do watch Izzy's non-quilt videos and it sounds like she would be good to learn from. Royal Troon was on here for my husband today -- looked quite wet!
Hahaha I think so too! Thanks goodness 😉 Izzy is a wonderful teacher! Such a lovely style! Love all her videos! Troon looked decidedly soggy didn’t it 😂 happy to watch from thr couch
Yes I’d like to see your neck binding video. Your makes are all lovely. I made a lot of Bettines a few years ago as I absolutely loved the construction of it. Can’t wait to see yours in that fabric. 😊
Rachael your quilt is wonderful! Well done. You are a wizard on the sewing machine. I’ve finished all my vacation pants and almost done with a Love Notions Rhapsody toile. I made continuous bias binding twice. Only 14.5” square made over 3 yds of binding! It combines quilting and sewing skills. I truly admire your ability to match fabric and pattern. Have a great week-Claudia
Yay for the neck binding tutorial! Lovely pink T-shirt and I can’t wait to see your Barbie inspired tea dress! I think your beach cover up is fab and doesn’t look like a hospital gown lol xx
I'd love to see a neck binding video please! Your beach cover up is lovely and I agree the pom poms have saved it from hospital gown-dom and I think it's turned out beautifully. Thank you for a great vlog ❤ ❤❤
Hi Rachael, thank you for sharing your lovely makes, I think your cover up is beautiful, no hospital vibes at all. I love the Tula Pink fabric it will be perfect for the Fleur dress. I would love to see a binding tutorial, it makes such a difference to your outfits. ❤❤
Hi Janette! I’m glad you can’t see hospital vibes 😂😂 I’ve just cut out my Fleur! So excited to make it! I’ll definitely make that binding video! Thanks so much for watching
Definitely not hospital vibes Rachael...more ariba, ariba to me. It will be great for your holiday. I love that nerida hansen fabric...it will be great as that dress. So nice to see you enthusing about your quilting too and that fleur dress will be perfect.
Love the video. Everything I see what you make, I want to go and buy that pattern. The La Brea is really calling to me. It seems to have so many options and beautiful features. Would love a video of the neck binding. It really finishes it off beautifully, but I've never attempted it. I was always confused whether it was just for the back, or the whole next. I was surprised you didn't mention the hurling final too as part of the busy weekend, especially as you're a Cork gal. Yes, plenty to watch while we stay out of the rain. Looking forward to seeing how all your plans come together, Bláthnaid.
Thanks blathnaid! That’s very kind! I would highly recommend the La Brea! I’ll hopefully have that tutorial up soon. Yes it’s just to cover the back as you need the stretch at the front. No hurling interest in our house.. I think we’re the only cork household to not have watched it 😂😂 Thanks so much as always for watching
Would love a neck binding tutorial!! Beautiful new fabrics too. Oh my goodness Rachael I love your blocks together - this is going to be an amazing little quilt. I’m so glad you had fun with this quilt along! The beach cover up is super cute - not hospital gown”y” at all!!
I’ll definitely make that tutorial! I just love the finish it gives! Thank you so much for your qayg series! You can tell how much I’m loving it!! Glad the cover up isn’t too medical 😂 have a lovely week!
Hi Rachael. Thank you for Sharing your makes. I fell in love with your La Brea top I had to downloaded 😊. The color you made it in looks gorgeous on you! Needless to say if you can do a tutorial on sewing the binding around La Brea as well as the neck binding, I’ll forever be grateful! Love your channel 💕
Lovely vlog as always Rachael 😀 I bet your robe looks amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of my patients with pom Poms so I don’t think it looks like a hospital gown 🥰 xx
Lots of colour on your video, as always! So I can truthfully say…you brighten my day! ☀️ The. We coral t-shirt looks amazing…good on you for persevering with a different thread. I need to take that lesson to heart! An ambassador now! So fun! Your enthusiasm is always encouraging, so you. A well suited to that! Apparently, you’d also make a great Pom-Pom ambassador, too! What a fun addition to that make! Little boys on your lap are not going to be able to stop playing with them! 😊 I don’t see hospital gown but I know. The feeling. I made a brown eyelet Kitty dress and I look like a UPS worker bc all one sees at a distance is a brown collared shirt…😜 oh well…we manage! Maybe changing the fabric of the little belt to a white or dark blue? I don’t know…some things are better left alone. Happy sewing with those beautiful new fabrics. And thank you for reminding me that some my older patterns are worth pulling out! xx
Lots of colour! Loving it these days! That’s very kind, thank you cyndy!! Pom poms are the most fun ever!!!!! Hahahaha UPS. That’s too funny. Thanks so much as always for watching Cyndy xx
Hi Rachael, I can't wait to watch your neck band tutorial as I really must make more of an effort finishing my t shirts. Whenever I've done it before I've ended up with two lines of stitching which I don't like. That wave picture is just stunning, some people are just so talented, incredible and what a gift. What a strange thing to cut out a pattern and then trim more off? That is odd and seems over complicated, don't blame you for changing it next time however it is the most gorgeous colour and shape on you. Having recently just worn a hospital gown I can say, hand on heart your cover up does not look like one 😂. Fingers crossed you get the weather to wear it! Thanks for sharing your busy week with us xx
Hi carol! Hope you’re keeping week! I’m hoping to do that tutorial this weekend 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Isn’t Anna’s picture just stunning!! The pattern is so odd…. But gives a nice result 😂 must alter my pattern!!! Ahahah that’s kind about my “hospital gown” if in doubt… add pom Poms 😂😂😂 Here’s to a sunny week! Look after yourself! Xx
Oh I did laugh at your hospital gown comparison (but with you, not at you!). I once tried to make a co-ord set from khaki tencel, trousers and a simple top. Once it was finished I was like, oh no, I made hospital scrubs! To add a detail and try to save it I put a breast pocket on. It made it even worse! As my husband said, “well at least you’ve got a place for your pen now doctor” 😂
Love your La Brea tee. I've been eyeing that pattern for a long while now, definitely want to get it. I didn't quite follow what you were saying about the bias binding but I'm sure it'll make sense and help me when I've got the pattern pieces in front of me. Thank you!
Thanks so much.. I would really recommend it. Hopefully it’ll make sense when you see the instructions. Hope you get on really well! Thanks for watching!
Your hospital gown/ beach cover-up is beautiful! That would be cool to make, but I don't want to think about having to go into the hospital for anything.
Some more lovely makes Rachael. I am about to make a beach cover up and was just going to copy an existing one and just wing it but, having watched you, I’ve decided to be a bit more sensible and I’ve bought the Nina Lee pattern. 😀 Yours really doesn’t look like a medical gown now with the pom poms. Enjoy your colourful sewing this week and may the sun shine so you can dry your lovely new fabrics outside. 🤞
Arrrgggg I ordered ‘stuff’ from Rainbow Fabrics after watching Adam’s vlog 🙄. Love, love, love the fairies fabric and can’t wait to see it made up. You really suit that coral pink colour Rachael and it is fab with your white jeans 👍🏻. Have to say there is nothing hospital’y about your lovely kimono - it’s adorable. I’ll def give Izzy’s quilt block tutorials a watch as I started making a double-sized quilt in 1992 and I never finished it (far too ambitious for a first attempt). It needs quite a bit of unpicking as the stitch tension was too tight and there’s quite a bit of unpicking to be done. I don’t know how to get it unpicked without tearing the fabric. 😭 I’m proud of myself for admitting this as it’s been a shameful secret for donkey’s years 🙈🙄😳. Xx
Hi Anne!!! Ohhh looking forward to seeing what you got! 🌈 the fabric I got is just divine! Got it cut out today! Hahaha glad you like the striped cover up! Izzys block series is absolutely brilliant!! Loving it. 1992!! I don’t think there’s a statute of limitations on quilting 😂😂😂 unpicking is tricking and thank you for sharing 😂😂😂🩷
Great video, thank you for the discount code I'll certainly take a look, the beach cover up is so pretty with the pompons, I think its nice to revisit patterns looking forward to seeing the Bettine dress xx
Thanks Julia! They have some beautiful fabrics! 🌈 glad you like the cover up! It’s a really cute pattern! Yes I’m excited to revisit the bettine after a long time!!
@@TheFrenchSeams_vlog ooo thank you. I love finishing things with binding, but I haven't figured out how to use the binding like this and get a neat finish 🤩🤩
Lovely fabric haul Rachael, good to know about Rainbow fabrics shipping. I'll try and not go over there for a peek 🫣..... I cant wait to see your barbie dress at the vintage tea frocktails. Now i feel under pressure to up my dress game 😂😂
Oh yes, please do a neck binding video. I love the clean, professional look of having the back inner neckline covered. The coupon code for Rainbow fabrics is so nice of them. I did have a peek to see if the ship to the US. It says 'Worldwide Shipping' but I couldn't find any information about cost or carrier used. Do you know Rachael?
Hi Rita! I got onto rainbow fabrics and they’re going to update their website with that shipping information. But they do definitely ship to the us! Let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks so much for watching
Hi Rachael. I bought the La Brea tee after seeing it on you recently. I was planning on cutting it out later this week. Can I please ask a couple of questions? Does your cotton jersey have elastane? The instructions say to use 100% cotton knit but I only have 95% cotton 5% elastane, they say to downsize if using this so im just wondering if you did that??? Also, thsnks for the hint on cutting off 1cm for the binding, is this all the way around front and back (not hem)? Sorry for such long message but I'm eager to copy your gorgeous top. 😀
Hi Jill! That’s so great! It’s a fab pattern! I just checked my fabric and it’s 95% cotton 5% elastane too so you should be totally fine. As long as it’s not too lightweight or drapey. I didn’t downsize . I used the body measurements true to my measurements and I think the fit is great! For the cutting off 1cm, If you don’t want to position the binding 1cm from the edge, you need to sew the side seams first then trim down 1cm all the way along the front neckline, arm, back necking and other arm, basically the whole top . Not the hem. The hem just has the hem band attached ! I hope this makes sense. If not, send me a DM over on instagram and I’ll send you a video of what I mean 😂 🤞🏻🤞🏻
