    A BIG THANKS FROM THE FISHING COMMUNITY.
    Have watched a number of your videos and the channel is definitely growing on me.
    This video presents the reality of commercial tuna fishing with realistic numbers (real actual numbers) presented to the community or those considering trying commercial tuna fishing.
    The breakdown of what the expenses of a sale that get charged against the "The Gross Sale" to arrive at the "Net Sale Received" (The Check).
    Then the breakdown of "How the Check" gets split appropriately to the Boat, Crew & Captain.

    That's about as fair as you can be plus the crew has to take into consideration that they are getting paid to do something most people have to pay to do as always another awesome video

      Appreciate you saying that bud, we certainly want to keep it fair and build long term relationships with those that fish with us-- crew and customers!

  • @MontCoRealtor
    @MontCoRealtor ปีที่แล้ว +3

    To be truly fair there should be a better breakup the remaining 50% since the owners are the only ones with equity, transfer capacity, and only owners benefit from the eventual sale of the boat. The first 50% to the boat (but in truth, to the owners pockets) and the remaining 50% should strictly be non-ownership or equitable partner only.
    Greedy captains will never do it, but that is truly fair. Considering you take expenses from the top, the boat TRIP COSTS are covered and the other 50% MORE THAN COVERS routine maintenance.

      @@saltwaterfishinguniversity Passionate about people being paid fairly for the extreme amount of work they put in with little to no appreciation OTHER than their pay? Yeah, I guess you could say I am. Too bad you guys aren't. But please, by all means, continue putting up content about YOUR exploits and YOUR success and how much money YOU make.

      They are being paid fairly. The crew doesn’t pay for the gas, upkeep, the monthly boat payments, scheduling etc. The boat could sink tonight and the crew can literally jump to a new ship without worrying about it. If they don’t like it, they can hustle and get their own boat and crew. Or better yet, how about you put your money where your mouth is and right this wrong? Exactly. Shut up. The crew seems happy. Keep your commie bs yourself unless you’re willing to do the work.

    Def nice to offset the expenses...that price per pound was actually better than I thought it would be. From my understanding, boats are not getting close to that right now in the Northeast.

    • @saltwaterfishinguniversity
      @saltwaterfishinguniversity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, which is why watching the show right now is so deceiving. Viewers actually believe these fish are $20 a pound when in reality you're likely half that.

      Primo very high quality to the right market they can pull way more, but this wasn’t that. They even mentioned that the Japanese pay way more for fish but you can’t do that right now.

    I was watching a fishing show in discovery channel, and they were getting 21 dollars a pound for their tuna. Am I missing something there ?

    • @independentanalysis9875
      @independentanalysis9875 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the whole show is scripted & designed to create "drama" for the TV audience. (See Your Saltwater Guide interview of Paul Herbert of Wicked Pissah).
      Prices "announced" are way too high for reality in the actual tuna sale market for other fisherman. $12/lbs was a pretty fair price.
