Great shot of the Bluefin coming out of the water. Last time a saw a drag go like that was shad fishing in the Delaware River. Whatever it was stripped a few hundred yards of my reel and just kept going. It slowed down for just a moment and then started running again. I would love to know what it was. People fishing the same spot think it was likely a big Sturgeon
The reel drag on the line steadily increases as the spool line diameter decreases due to the fish taking line (removing line from the reel spool). Therefore as the line diameter decreases, you must loosen the drag on the reel, otherwise the line will not be able to withstand the increased drag and will break. Regardless, the fish was too big to land from shore with that equipment. Excellent video. Loved seeing the fish take the hook!
That was a legendary hookup! Once i hooked a 60 piund spring chinook on the Hoh River, with my steelhead rod and 8 pound test. After 20 minutes, my buddy from Colorado told me to "hurry up and catch that critter." I told him my chznces of landing it were slim to none, and that I saw Slim float by in that driftboat 20 minutes ago when i hooked this monster. After 45 minutes, the hook pulled out. This guy had less of a chance than i had that day. Great video!
What part of the world is this in? That's incredible to get such a good view of the fish right before it decided to leave 😄 A fish of a life time from shore.

I lost a Lake Michigan-run sturgeon the same size. Of course they hit your bait on the bottom, so not as exciting as a top water take. Peeled my reel in no time before shaking me off. The power a big fish transfers into your forearms is a memory that will forever be imprinted on your conscious. When these big fish get away, there’s nothing to be upset about as they’ll pass on their genetics or give another angler that special experience. Tight lines brother.
You did everything right. Massive respect. I don’t think anyone can do any better than you. That fish is just too big and too powerful for anyone to land it from shore. Will need a braid line rating higher than PE10 and length more than 600m to stand a chance to prolong the fight but no guarantee to land it either. Please don’t feel bad . That is an experience of a lifetime. many people has dreamed of a bite like that …. Including me
Tnx man, i agree with facts..yes thicker line but then there is problem of length on spools..this is how it is, simply they dont produce bigger spools at this time! 😊
I landed a 236.6 Lbs yellowfin tuna on a boat a 10 day trip with 26 fisherman. I used a braid 100lb with a 150 floro carbon leader on a live sardine. A 2 speed Okuma n a hybrid carbon rod. It took me 1hr 40 mins n I lost count how many times it crossed over the anchor line!! That was 2017 my personal best for tuna.
@@localguy8 yes, you were on a boat which given you a higher chance to land the fish than from onshore location like this guy. If the fish spools you too much then the boat can chase after the fish to recuperate the fishing line easily. While this guy had no chance since he stucked on the rock onshore. Sound like you used a conventional reel type which would hold a lot more line to play with the fish than a spinning reel.
@localguy8 so a slower tuna, half this size, on a 2 speed conventional reel, from a boat. Basically that experience and this one are so far apart you almost can't call them both the same sport

Thanks man..apreciate opinion and you are right..had similar multiple experiences with big catfish and tunas
What a fish mate. Can i ask where about this was ? Dont wamt exactly where just a rough idea. It looks very familiar
Hope you are okay.
That was a fish 🎣 of a lifetime you had there. Amazing 🎣👍🥳
Yes man, all fine now, ready for new expedition 🤙
What an awesome experience! It’s great that it jumped and you got it on camera. Running across jagged rocks was a poor choice
Sometimes you win, sometimes loose :)
@@nasticivan should’ve jumped in and see where it takes you haha
That is some heck of a rod, check out that bend!! 🎣👀💀
@localguy8 so a slower tuna, half this size, on a 2 speed conventional reel, from a boat. Basically that experience and this one are so far apart you almost can't call them both the same sport
Bravo 👏 Approximately what is the depth at which the fish hit?
Aprox 30m
@@nasticivan 👏👏👏
Awesome!!! Its only a matter of time & right tackle & method before someone hooks one in u. k or Ireland especially Cornwall huge numbers now here.
What a fish.. Unstoppable
Totaly violent!
“There’s no way I can catch this.” Tries anyway. True fisherman.
👍 wow what a memory caught on film !
Thanks 🙏🏼🙏🏼
That was definitely a world record from the rocks you fought that thing as good as anyone could good job
Yeap...hell of a fish it was..
1:39 that was so Painful to watch 😢😂
he was never in control for once....such a big fish n drag to the max..n the fish is still pulling the line ...amazing vid..😂👍👍
Yeap, no control as you saw it
What a great spot for a bit of fishing, where the fish are bigger than you
What a legendary eat! I'll bet you won't be forgetting that Leviathan. Hooking a fish like that top-water is the pinnacle, landing it would have just been gravy. You got the best part of that fish hardwired into your memory now.
The way the tuna jumped out the water for the lure was epic!
🙏
The rush!!!. One in a lifetime. Some of us dream about that. No matter it got away. ❤
Jaooo bas bilo prevelika!... Jebiga sta ces brate, samo napred! Poz od Australije!
neki drugi put, pozdrav za Au iz Srbije :)
The best fishing video I’ve seen. This is what all fishermen dream off at night. Great fight that fish was amazing 🤙🏼🎣
Thanks man, apreciate!!
No kidding ! I'd love to know where that's at, to be able to encounter a fish like that from shore. I will say that if it was me and I knew that there were fish like that swimming out there, I probably would have started off wearing the fighting belt lol.
Bloody good show brother, how much line did you get back, and is it trashed
Line is ok, missing only ~10m
One of the best fights I have ever seen. Fisherman never had a chance. Good effort!
That fall had to hirt, you fid well holding onto it for as long as you did 👌🏻 once in a lifetime experience
Awesome footage! What rod and reel are you using?
Hi Alexander, description ☝️
At least you got a chance with that bucket list fish! Great job
Wow! Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I hope you’re ok that was a hard fall on some jagged rocks, awesome video thanks for posting.
Yeap, all good, thanks for watching! 💪
Spectacle "EXTRORDINAIRE" ! Un thon pareil ! Ça aurait été la prise de ta vie. Ce n'est que partie remise. Bravo.
I’ve not had a fish that big in that situation, but I’ve definitely fallen on rocks like that and man. I felt your pain through the screen. Ouch!
🙏🏼🙏🏼
man that was intense! Sorry you lost it, but thanks for sharing! Also I hope your knee is ok, that sounded really painful!
Knee fine finally, ready for new adventures
Just stumbled across this absolutely humbling experience, huge props for attempting to turn her what an absolute unit of a tuna.
Thanks man
That was a great fight!!!! Cheers buddy! sve najlobjle u idniny!
The fact that you didn’t get spooled within the first minute of hooking up tells me you are a veteran angler, most guys would have been pulled into the water, fell on the rocks or blew up the rod!! You hooked a beast and hung in there and made the best of it!! Congratulations!!
Jak si, svaka cast. Pozrav is amerike. Jesi u Hrvatskoj ili?
Srbija
That was EPIC!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you were done before the fight begun! No way on a spinner rig! You eventually would have gotten spooled... Best fishing video ever posted anywhere!
Tnx man, we are waiting for a bit smaller tunas :)
@@nasticivan Haha, hoping for smaller fish, I wish I had your problems! What country was this?
I can’t believe you hooked that thing right from the shore. Amazing.
