It's so weird Here in Ireland our Bluefin population is higher than ever. The Tuinnín here is the Northeastern Atlantic Bluefin tuna stock that migrates from the Mediterranean to Northern waters to feed. They migrate to Ireland from Summer to late Autumn. In Ireland it is legal to fish for Tuinnín as a sport fish on a C&R basis. A tagging programme was also setup to moniter the stock. It is illegal to fish for them commercially Irish waters. They're increased population has also been noted in the UK and Norway. But Ireland has had the best explosion by far. 600lb is the average Tuinnín and a big one is 800 + . They are mostly caught on the West, North West and South West Coasts. The counties are Gaillimh, Maigh Eo, Corcaigh and Dún na nGall. Irelands population of massive Bluefin Tuna is because we outlawed the commercial catching and sale of this amazing species. Most fisherman who caught Tuinnín commercialy now run Fishing guide boats from all those counties listed to catch and release some big game Bluefin. The rest of the world should learn from this example
Im so happy to read this, even if they are fished untill extinction in other parts of the world, they could stay near ireland so the species doesnt completely die out. But when that happends other countries may try to convince ireland to start comercial fishing again and sell it.

The Newsworthy Price tags are mostly due a Japanese tradition where many industries which are similar to the Blue Fin Tuna industry, where the first Bid of the year is way over the what the actual product (what they'll would've have actually paid for it) is worth just because it's a traditional thing they do for a successful year of work.
So it's a PR thing?
@@leowzhilin Probably yeah, since I doubt the financial would make sense otherwise unless it was for a cultural reason, which Japan has quite a bit of especially in the Workplace. And they also keep raising the Ante by increasing the First year's bid over the years which make even less sense for a business, but hey a tradition is only a tradition from repetition.

They should make those blue fin tuna seasonal. Not an everyday thing. If you leave it seasonal they will have time to grow and multiply
Ah, their are seasons, and limits. And Bluefin populations have been on the rise for several years. They are nowhere near endangered.
It's so weird
Here in Ireland our Bluefin population is higher than ever. The Tuinnín here is the Northeastern Atlantic Bluefin tuna stock that migrates from the Mediterranean to Northern waters to feed. They migrate to Ireland from Summer to late Autumn. In
Ireland it is legal to fish for Tuinnín as a sport fish on a C&R basis.
The rest of the world has their own circumstances.

@@mangakuota122 sounds like an excuse
Im so happy to read this, even if they are fished untill extinction in other parts of the world, they could stay near ireland so the species doesnt completely die out. But when that happends other countries may try to convince ireland to start comercial fishing again and sell it.

Tuna is a deep sea fish that can weight up to 150kg and you can see how big they are compare to human on the video. And they migrate over large distance in the sea. Not ideal/easy to be domesticated.
The reason why there is no tuna farm is because deep sea farm is still new infancy stage. They literally need to build a sea rig that able to withstand storm and net that able to protect from tuna predators. Not to mention sea pirate...
