Part 1 available here: • INSANE ICON - The Stor...
In 2011, the man called Sting had a drastic change of character in TNA. Known to fans as “Joker” Sting but officially dubbed the “Insane Icon”, the Stinger’s new gimmick was heavily inspired by the movie “The Dark Knight” as Steve Borden looked (and acted) like The Joker. With Hulk Hogan and the Immortal faction as his main rivals, Sting would entertain fans of TNA with this new and odd character. Some fans loved it, some fans didn’t, but it’s a very interesting part of The Stinger’s career that’s extremely fascinating to look at.
In this video, we look at the events that led up to Sting vs Hulk Hogan at Bound for Glory 2011. Topics covered here include Sting using a bird to intimidate Eric Bischoff, Sting’s feud with Kurt Angle, the final Sting vs Flair match to ever happen, Hogan vs Sting in TNA and loads more.
00:00 - Sting and Kurt Angle get prepared for their match
02:44 - Sting, Eric Bischoff & The Cage
06:03 - Sting vs Angle at Hardcore Justice 2011
07:55 - Sting and Ric Flair's feud gets revisited
15:04 - Hogan vs Sting at Bound for Glory 2011
    20:28 - Sting's rivalry with Bobby Roode
    - Much More!

I watched TNA from about 2009 to 2012. I saw Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair in person for the first time in my life from my third row seats at Lockdown 2010 in St Louis. I met Sting at a Memphis TNA event in 2011, and I have his autograph on a Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat that came with my meet & greet package. Yes, TNA was a little rough around the edges, and the sometimes the booking wasn't the most watchable, but that company still enabled me to finally meet my childhood heroes.

I honestly wrote off wrestling a long time ago (around 2000) but I read what's going on. When I read about the Joker Sting character I laughed like hell and blamed Hogan and Bischoff for trying to jump in on another pop culture icon (Health Ledger's Joker) the way they did before (The Crow). And while that's true, because of this video I have gone back and watched the shows and man...Steve nailed it. Sting is a true pro and Icon. It's actually pretty good stuff all because of the way he played it

    • @erikrupp692
      @erikrupp692 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I wrote the whole, "Joker Sting," idea off as a desperate move, not worth taking seriously, but then I watched a couple promos and found myself going down a rabbit hole on TH-cam. That was Steve Borden's best work by far. He so nailed the Joker Sting character - he was both hilarious and scary at the same time. You didn't know if Sting was just faking it to get under Hogan's skin, or if Sting had really become unhinged by all the stress (in kayfabe, of course). Ultimately, it was a little of both. It was handled amazingly well, and it ended up being one of the most entertaining runs in pro wrestling history.

Grew up watching sting and hogan in the 80s with all the greats. This was possible their best work together. Still...the road warriors were my favorites until the Undertaker debuted. Kid me was hooked on his spooky shizzle 😂 and he still is. Rest...In....Peace.

A Hogan match with a clean finish? That's as ironic as TNA's double entendre

@Dallas & Daddy you’re exactly right. At least WCW paid their wrestlers decent money/on time though.

@Dallas & Daddy so many true stories about wrestlers not getting paid on time or not getting paid a lot. Ex: There’s a shoot of Christopher Daniels and Kazarian talking about how Tna posted a pic donating 2500 to the Red Cross in 2013 yet most of the talent’s pay was late.

@Dallas & Daddy Another ex: Awesome Kong saw in 2008/09 where the makeup artists were paid more than the top knockouts.

This is my favorite wrestling youtube channel so far. The videos are top quality. I just don't want to remember how Impact missed on probably the biggest storyline in it's history. Making a blood feud between arguably the best TNA made heel Bobby Roode and one of the best faces in recent years Cowboy James Storm. The story screamed money and the heel turn was so perfect but TNA did TNA things and ended it in matter of 2 weeks if I remember correctly.

with playing mind games and being freaky and scary, i thought the undertaker had that gimmick locked down!! Dame sting did an, amazing job playing this crazy sting. The way he was portraying his gimmick, was relatable and as long as you can be relatable. People are going to love you!!

A great video once again! Honestly, it's refreshing to hear someone talk positively about the Joker Sting gimmick. I've seen almost nothing but negative comments about it online over the years. Despite me being 11 when I was watching the whole thing play out, I remember being pretty enthralled by it.

This is what I love about this channel, opening up hidden gems that I didn't know about
The stuff with Sting and Anderson looked like some brilliant storytelling
I'll be the 1st to admit I never watched TNA especially when Hogan and Bischoff were at the helm as have never been a fan of either but credit where it's due, this looked pretty decent
Did seem a little repetitive booking towards the end and that is probably why Sting called it a day on it but it shows how creative and professional he really was/is
    Great upload as always WB
P.S. what happened to Mick Foley's role to end so abruptly
