  • Looking for a compact 5 seater SUV then the new face lifted Suzuki vitara SZ-T could be the perfect car for you. I show you around the outside of the car and talk about the new design, look at the practicality of the boot and passenger room and then take it on the road. See what this car is like on the open road as i put it through its paces on duel carriage ways and A and B roads, how does it handle and drive and how much does the new Suzuki vitara SZ-T cost.

      I own this car (1.4lt engine GL Plus ALL GRIP) since Dec. 2018. I think it's a good fast car overall , with very high value for money and very rich equipment. It may haven't the "heavy" doors of it's german competitors but the quality is not so bad as some reviewers claim.

      I think judging a car by its weighty solid feel is a bit of a thing of the past with modern safety systems and high strength steel, Suzuki have done the right thing keeping the weight low. It provides better performance, economy and emissions. I own one too but have to say I think the interior is an area for improvement with trim.

    Why are most UK car reviewers on TH-cam in the south of England ? As for him talking about the previous dash being very very scratchy, what the hell is wrong with people ? Ive never scratched a dashboard yet in 30 fecking years ! Im sick to the back teeth of reviewers moaning about interior materials. People are being brainwashed into thinking soft touch means better. @@DamoDrives Not owned but dealer let me try the 1.6 back to back against the 1.0 making the choice very easy to go for the 1.0. Ive got a Seat Ateca 1.5 TSI FR Sport (company car done 5k mils in 6 weeks from new) but I have more fun in the Vitara.

    • @oddities-whatnot
      @oddities-whatnot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1.6 was a decent engine, it just needed a 6th gear for motorways, and I also think that its not a necessity for every car to have a turbo. Years ago hardly any cars had turbos. Expectations are just too high now, and the train of thought is if a car doesn't have a turbo then its deemed too slow and must be outdated and old fashioned. What happened to using the gears to suit varying road conditions ? No, everyone wants to get the pulling power without changing gear. Learn to drive properly, that might help. Sadly though we live in a society where people are too easily influenced by everyone else. People are obsessed with what others think about their choice of car. People feel safe by conforming to popular ideas for fear of friends or neighbours saying "why have you bought that, its not got a turbo, its not fast. Why didnt you get such a car instead, more torque for overtaking etc" and all the other usual bullshit reasons because THEY are uncomfortable about YOUR choice of car. Crazy.

    • @oddities-whatnot
      @oddities-whatnot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Getting-Older I prefer the sound of the 1.6 and so what if the 1 litre has more pulling power ? It doesnt sound as good and the only problem with the 1.6 is it needed a longer fifth gear for motorway cruising. It pulls well enough and hey guess what, if you need to climb a gradient, there is always another gear you can use. Overtaking is not necessary in most cases and joining a motorway, I always find I dont redline a car doing that, its not a race is it. Drivers with patience will drive anything, it isnt all about power yet so many people today think a car with more BHP and torque is better than one with less. Its all about driving aggressively and ego boosting these days. Its pathetic

    • @Getting-Older
      @Getting-Older 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oddities-whatnot I guess the sound thing is a personal take just like some prefer V8 or V10 etc. Nowt wrong with the 1.6 at all and I agree there is so much placed on performance that is mostly unnecessary but again each to their own and I said nothing about red lining or that a race. Vitara is a cracking choice for SUV.

    Yeah not having a spare wheel, in Australia particularly, is a deal breaker.
    I'd have to buy a spare wheel and thow it in the back - and factor that into the cost and usability of the car.

    • @Hamachingo
      @Hamachingo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Press on the right-hand button on the gauge cluster goes through all the pages. The Torque/Power one is extremely inaccurate though, even at low RPM they both max out right away when you floor it which is just wrong, especially for power. You'd think you could use the Motion page to practice economical driving and get the lowest numbers you can on your commute. But no; no numbers, just vague graphics. What you see in the video is really all you get, if you want actual numbers, hoop up a gauge to the obd2 port.

    Just waiting now to see the new Hybrid 14d 48 v cars, I am a little unsure if this is a good thing, using a Toyota system, In my own personal opinion Toyota arn`t what they used to be. They slipped down from 9th to 19th place in the JD Power reliability survey for 2019 but the new system promises more torque better fuel economy and lower emissions, just hope its not going to damage Suzuki`s reliability. Of course you cant get much from Suzuki, other manufacturers always showcase upcoming models but Suzuki nah .

    Great review I've just got a manual Hyrbid version as a hire car for work for a few months. Had it about 2 weeks so far and done a couple of long 3 hour plus journeys, and whilst I wasn't a big fan at first compared to other hires I've had in a similar class like the Renault Captur and Volk T-Roc it is growing on me. I mostly do a lot of motorway driving and the adaptive cruise control is really helpful so I barely even have to touch the pedals when cruising. The media screen as you said is a little basic but does get the job done, but could definitely do with more USB ports. The boot is surprisingly large and having that extra bit of space where you can lower the floor is pretty helpful, and the seats are also pretty comfortable.
    The main downsides for me are that it doesn't have a digital speedometer that I can find at least, which is strange as I would say it's something pretty common in most cars and in its place it's got a lot of other pretty useless bits of information. Also, I really dislike the navigation of the dashboard having to use the weird stick things rather than just having arrows and an entrance and exit button.

    Nice car but not having a dink holder or USB in the back is a fail ...even the old one had 2 drink holders in the back

      I have an 06 grand vitara that has done 140k , I work up in Scotland so it does lots of motorway miles and mountain tracks on Avon AX7’s a great car but the 2 L Diesel engine has had constant expensive DPF filter problems, I would get a petrol for sure next time ....

      They seem very reliable cars they keep going. The latest model is petrol with mild hybrid so pretty good fuel consumption and there is due another model end of the year

      Yes! That is NOT the way to drive! Hands flying in all directions, except controlling the steering wheel ! A very dangerous example of driving !! Otherwise a sensible report for anyone interested in buying a Vitara - ( I have, a 1.4 turbo auto ) Just get your hands properly on the steering wheel please !!!!!

    Love this car. Going to make it my family SUV shortly. Excellent price, lovely looking, reliable, what's not to like?

      It’s such a great value for money car and seems to do everything a family would want and also for what you would use a car for 95% of the time. What spec do you think you will go for

      @@DamoDrives Absolutely! It's fantastic value. Here in Rome it's nearly €6000 cheaper than a discounted Honda HRV which was also on my shortlist. I'm thinking about going for the mid spec model because I want a rear camera and Android Auto as well as the more powerful engine. The colours are beautiful as well. We're going for orange and black! I'll let you know what I think about it after we've bought it. Thanks again.

      @@DamoDrives Bought my Vitara. Went for Ivory with a black roof. Got the bigger engine. Such a great car! Excellent value for money. Very zippy. Excellent brakes. Lovely driving position. Gear stick is a bit clunky but nothing terrible.

      I'm looking for a suzuki dealer in Rome to buy a vitara. Which dealer in Rome did you use? Would you recommend them?
