Definitely you should buy one. They offer reasonable value for money and are nice to drive . Don't bother with the "full hybrid" version the mild hybrid is still pretty economical. Suzuki have a very good reliability record too.

I agree. I have the 1.4T mild hybrid and it is only fractionally worse on real world economy to the full hybrid but it is cheaper to buy and far nicer to drive. It's also considerably quicker that the 1.5 too.

@@mitchreeves1 Yes the 1.4 turbo is nippy.

These are great cars, very reliable and very good on fuel economy, and comfortable as well, if you want to pay only £35 for tax get one pre-2017

Our 1.4 69 plate boot has a hidden floor so you can either hide the parcel shelf or lower the level to further increase space. Has this feature been removed in the hybrid variants or overlooked in the review? Cheers

Thanks for highlighting this Harry. From 4:30 in our full-length review of the Vitara we address the height adjustable boot floor. Here's the link to watch that video - th-cam.com/video/02cCp83gwh0/w-d-xo.html

The mild hybrid still, has the adjustable floor in the boot and space for a space saver wheel. The 48 v battery and the converter are under the front seats. The electric motor kicks in when pulling away so is great for junctions slip roads traffic lights etc.

Dunno why the Vitara or any other small SUV is compared against the Puma. This must be the most irrelevant comparison, because the Puma is really the odd ball out of the category. The Puma is superior to the Vitara in areas the Vitara buyers don't care about. The Vitara has 4x4 and better ground clearance. Of course it doesn't feel as good as the Puma, which is designed for more sporty driving. IMO these 2 cars, or any other small SUV vs the Puma really refer to completely different categories of users. The Vitara is for the family man/woman. In general it is much better suited for rural areas compared to the Puma, whereas the Puma is more geared towards nice roads for the young couple or solo young person. The Vitara features all the modern safety features. It is a bit barebones in other areas especially the interior, but this is also reflected at the price. You can get a fully equipped 4x4 version, with sunroof even, for a bit more than the basic trim of the Puma with the basic engine/gearbox combo. You will lose some of the plushiness and stuff like rear ventilation and rear USB ports. If you live in rural areas, it is a no-brainer that you'll get the Vitara; there is no comparison between the two for versatility. The Puma yes, it feels sporty but the suspension IMO is too stiff to be comfortable all around. It feels too bouncy and uncomfortable in mediocre roads, which is the majority of the roads which are not motorways in most countries. I've test-driven most of the cars in this category and the Puma was by far the least comfortable. In any case, why is sportiness a criterion even in a small family SUV? This is getting tiring in every review, and not just on this channel. Something about the 'way the Puma communicates the road' etc. When we were looking for a new car in this segment with the wife, I can tell you the Puma ranked pretty low in our list. Is it sporty? Yes it is. It also doesn't tick many boxes most other small SUVs tick, like headroom, comfort, and not feeling like a dungeon in the back seats. Like I'll put the children and the wife in and start pushing the hairpins while going on vacation to chill. Or I will drive sporty when hogging logs or carrying stuff or whatever. Who cares, honestly? If you want a sporty drive, literally just get any roadster and it will be 10 times better to drive than the Puma.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Efstathios. Would you consider getting a Vitara?

@@rivervalegroup Was top of the list together with the Captur and Kamiq. Ended up getting the Captur and I’m very happy with it. The Vitara had an insane wait for delivery; 18 months at the time. I would probably have got the Vitara if there were a reasonable delivery time or a car available immediately.

The Pumas is not superior to the Vitara. The Ford Ecoboost engine technically is inferior due to the stupid cambelt in oil arrangement. Plus Suzuki are far more reliable. Yes the Puma is a good looking car but is seriously let down by its unreliable badly designed engine.

@@bondjamesbond9041 Spot on mate, never buy a Ford eco boom engine , they are totally rubbish and likely to blow as they are a 3-cylinder engine waiting to blow.

What do these people want, I’m sure they would get in the Bugatti and moan that they have no room to put lengths on 2x4 or plaster boards.
Always find the negatives and point them out and if they can’t they make something up, it feels plasticky and scratchy! So how much would the car cost if they put soft touch materials everywhere? A lot more than they do now!
You buy a car to do a job so buy the one that does everything you want it to do.

If you were an owner, I don't think you'd be critical of those points. Objectively, however, the design has hardly changed in seven years and is spartan. It is a no-nonsense car!
