Shantien is like a small number of elder dragons in Frontier - you don't actually slay it...you just wear it down to the point where its own body can't contain the unimaginable power within and succumbs to its own elemental might when it tries one last attack on you.
Just like disufiroa.....Until it gets a shiten version and completely controls its world destroying power just to completely obliterate you personally.
Imagine a quest where you hunt down mother narwa and the amastu. You get a victory theme for a little bit before it died down. And you hear Shentien phase 1 theme. Ain no one ready or prepared for the fight. 💀
Fought him last week and it's definitely where the fight becomes a problem. He was one of the only monsters that brought me up to the 40/45 minute mark and I had no stamina lol. Hell of a fight.

@LaGua MH Frontier apparently had reached its limit on how much content the engine could handle. They were forced to shut down the game because they couldn't make more content for it, meaning that existing players would have no reason to stay any longer because no more content could ever get made.
I propose sending messages to Capcom lauding shantien and it's *stellar* theme and the desire to see it reimagined and justified in today's level of technology... We got amatsu back, it stands to reason we could get this hands-down calamity back from previous generations if enough hunters show interest.

This has actually become the music I listen to in the background whenever I'm on my computer. I could just imagine listening to this while actually fighting Shantien. It's just such good music.
Phase 1...Shantien appears, it see's you standing alone with nowhere to run. A perfect tasty snack and nothing more, so why should It bother using any of it's power in taking you down? Phase 2... Shantien realises it had underestimated you, you move from ranking of meal to challenger as the dark skies gather. Phase 3...Shantien had vastly underestimated your fiery strength and desire as controlling the skies had failed to dissuade or intimidate you. It realises you pose a serious problem that threatens it and it's perfect home, you must be repelled! Phase 4...You've done it...you pushed the Shantien over the edge, all calculated thoughts drip away into anger and bloodlust...it doesn't care about it's home...it doesn't care about it's own well-being. All it cares about is killing you...and it will use every inch of it's wrath and power to do so. Now you stand alone in a desolate place, but if you turned and run from this horrifying strength then innocents will be caught and killed in its fury! You must make a stand...you must finish what you started...

God I wish they'd bring a few monsters over from frontier like I know the joke is frontier has bad designs but shantien, inagami, and laviente are so uniquely designed that they look like they'd fit
Shantien would fit perfectly imho. Its just at the fringe between amazingly powerfull and ludicrously powerfull. None of its attacks and/or mechanics appear to be broken, and even if, for its music...oh gods its music i would accept the worst of all fights only to hear this magnificent of an Opus!
@@Siturba shantien's lore really doesn't hinder it that much. its just a territorial elder dragon that flies really high up. airships are already a thing in the main series. and it's not too outlandish for an elder dragon either, so there's nothing really hindering shantien in that regard. and besides, lore's never stopped a monster from returning. it certainly didn't stop the magalas.

could you imagine; the reason they pulled the frontier servers was to work on a new frontier series that makes use of the RE Engine and takes advantage of all the QOL changes of 5th gen. that would be sick
My personal favorite bit is the transition from Phase 1 into 2. The music goes from calm to tense and those few seconds in the intro of Phase 2 just captures that so wonderfully.
I can imagine it. As theme 2, a light rain starts, quickly changing into a torrential downpour, and the first horn(?) is thunder. As you get a sense that Shantien can actually control the very weather.
9:00 god, every time the music gets to this point i tear up a little, such a memorable and awesome boss fight that i hope someday we either see in a modern monster hunter MMO or even in a main line game
Man, I really hope Shantien gets brought to the mainline series somehow. He’s one of the few monsters from Frontier that deserves a remaster of his fight, so that he can truly live up to how cool his design is.

There’s just something about this specific monster that brings a tear to my eye. Maybe it’s the combination of the music with the beauty and ferocity of this monster.
I may never get to play any of this game to give a full opinion on it, but as a Monster Hunter fan, I can appreciate what this series did while it was at it's peak. Let it never be forgotten

I fought this Elder Dragon a fair bit of time ago... So many battles have hardened me to the point that I only saw Elder dragons,gods, as mere pray waiting to be slain by my blade... This Elder Dragon Shantiyen and this song reminded me that I was not merely fighting a dragon...I was Fighting a God and it's out for blood.
I'd love for there to be a twist where this guy turns out to have been Ibushi's and Narwa's baby the whole time. Him or Amatsu, of course. The point is that a twist like that would honestly be awesome.
Man... ive never played MHF but this theme is an absolute timeless banger especially part 3, 4 and the Trailer music at the end, thx for showing up on my recommended page
Jesus christ, Phase 3 is really building up perfectly for Phase 4. I love Phase 4 in itself, but Phase 3 is just the perfect cherry-on-top. I really hope they'd make Frontier for western or world-wide. I don't even mind if it's a subscription-based game like WoW or FFXIV. There's a lot of interesting monsters in this game, not to mention the over-the-top moves looks really fun.
And now, this game has been shut. I never played MH Frontier, but i can't say anything else than "So long partner..." Mh Frontier, even if we, occidental players, never played you, we'll miss you.

That Phase 4 theme sounds way too epic. I mean it does fit the battle but that is GODLY. It feels like you’re fighting the creator of all Monster Hunter Universe.
Man every part of this theme is amazing, god i wish frontier was canon to all the other games cuz there's so many amazing monsters in frontier that i would absolutely love to see in the main series, and the songs... oh god the songs, they're all so damn good!!!! 😭
It's a vauge cannon, something like frointer takes place in a hidden land or something? Now that the severs are down I do like to hope we start getting some of the monsters from the series. Shantien would be excellent for rise in my opinion.
Came here after reading some comments on other MH theme videos and my God, I wish I got to play Frontier. This theme is incredible. The lead up to phase 4 is seriously a masterpiece. It gives probably the most different feel to a fight, where it seems like a true final boss. Not evil music, but angelic and like "this needs to be done" kind of feel. And I agree with a lot of comments here, he fits Rise and Sunbreak PERFECTLY. What a fucking awesome fight that would be with this soundtrack. Seriously wish I got into MH before World and had access to Frontier.
To me the first part is kinda similar to pirate music you hear kinda Riding on the wind then 2nd part comes and it feels like you see shanties perspective of riding it’s own wind “soaring” and the 3rd part sounds like you see it in its full glory and the 4th part you see glory from the hunters perspective being able to fight something like that.

I wish vg music was more appreciated. Stuff like this is actual art, but it's not respected just because it's vgm. This song, in particular, is imo contender for one of the best battle themes ever made. There's something truly magical about just losing yourself in a fictional world and suspending your disbelief and allowing yourself to become your character as you fight for the fate of the world against gods.
Definitely not Sunbreak, maybe a new title at some point but I don’t think SB is the game it makes it’s return. Though as one of my favorite frontier creatures I hope it does eventually return
It has a chance. By the jungle map there are hidden papers that describe shantien pretty well. And those papers did leak back in base rise allmother and Valstrax. So there is potential since Espinas is in rise.

i know a lot of people have mixed opinions on the frontier games but as a hunter who only played GU so far i have to say every monster is cool with me except for the Bunsenburner Diablos

I don’t understand how people consider MHF to be over the top when the main series has a mile long snake that can be killed by 1-4 humans in 50 minutes. Like come on, this series is not steeped in realism!

It looks like they're just attacking with their best combos and not moving, whilst somehow staying airborne. Although I do get your point. I just think that frontier ramps things up to 11.
I think the 2nd team might bring over some frontier stuff since they did it in the past, and also just looking at Bloodbath Diablos you can tell its more up their ally compared to the 1st team

I have only seen a few clips of this monster. However, i wish i could create a discussion. Why have the developers not given a flagship after knowing of Wilds for nearly 9 months now, it's release predicted to be in the first 4 months of 2025, and there already being 3 trailers out? My crazy theory is what if a monster like Shantien is the flagship of the game? It might be crazy but Elderdragons have been flag ships before. I am jjst thinking what if the flagship is a monster that we haven't seen in an very very long time, or a monster in a similar position to Shantien and very few people have had a chance to ti face it in battle. It would create EXTREME excitement and maybe this is why they havent released any information on the flagship

I dont see Shantien as a monster, along with Narwa and Ibushi, idk why but they seem too intelligent, they seem more then just a monster, but like a god, along with the black dragons, safi and xeno. Most monsters you see are just everyday regular wildlife, rathalos is just as equal to a bird, hes just wildlife, but these specific elder dragons are very different. You look at fatalis, thats not just a wild beast, thats a god, an immortal being that destroys, not just hunt for survival.
Swordfish only reason I think it’s remotely possible is that Shantien and Ibushi use the same method of flight (the blue particles that explode out of both of them when they die) and that Shantien’s final phase has both of their colors
BotW scenario and bosses sucks. Bulldrome fight is more interesting than a rush of the five BotW bosses. Only graphism and exploration are cool in BotW
Think about it people, TU1-TU3 were in anticipation to both Velkhana and Risen Crimson Glow, being Velkhana weak to fire and dragon and Crimson Glow to dragon. This means that TU4 is in anticipation to TU5, which isn't Amatsu because while weak to dragon he isn't weak to ice but fire, but Shantien in its instead, who is weak to both ICE and DRAGON, elements that in TU4 got really strong monsters.

Seriously!! Nothing in mainline MH comes close to how amazing Frontier tracks are imo. My favourite overall is Violent Raviente's third phase.

Shantiyen is my fav monster. Frontier has the coolest monsters and battles. Dhisufiroa, Rukodiora, Guanzorumu...

To me phase 4 sounds like the music that would play as you stand in stunned awe at the monster while the world burns from its beauty and fury.

Yep. Both were made after Shantien. Lagiacrus was in 2009 and Amatsu in 2010. Shantien was made in 2007 with the release of Frontier G.

I really hope they'd make Frontier for western or world-wide. I don't even mind if it's a subscription-based game like WoW or FFXIV. There's a lot of interesting monsters in this game, not to mention the over-the-top moves looks really fun.

Shantien should be brought to the main series. It's one of the best monsters from Frontier, and not broken or over the top designed like some.

Man every part of this theme is amazing, god i wish frontier was canon to all the other games cuz there's so many amazing monsters in frontier that i would absolutely love to see in the main series, and the songs... oh god the songs, they're all so damn good!!!! 😭
Frontier IS the canon version of all monsters, how strong there are really meant to be
It's a vauge cannon, something like frointer takes place in a hidden land or something? Now that the severs are down I do like to hope we start getting some of the monsters from the series. Shantien would be excellent for rise in my opinion.

Came here after reading some comments on other MH theme videos and my God, I wish I got to play Frontier. This theme is incredible. The lead up to phase 4 is seriously a masterpiece. It gives probably the most different feel to a fight, where it seems like a true final boss. Not evil music, but angelic and like "this needs to be done" kind of feel.
And I agree with a lot of comments here, he fits Rise and Sunbreak PERFECTLY. What a fucking awesome fight that would be with this soundtrack. Seriously wish I got into MH before World and had access to Frontier.
To me the first part is kinda similar to pirate music you hear kinda Riding on the wind then 2nd part comes and it feels like you see shanties perspective of riding it’s own wind “soaring” and the 3rd part sounds like you see it in its full glory and the 4th part you see glory from the hunters perspective being able to fight something like that.

I wish vg music was more appreciated. Stuff like this is actual art, but it's not respected just because it's vgm. This song, in particular, is imo contender for one of the best battle themes ever made. There's something truly magical about just losing yourself in a fictional world and suspending your disbelief and allowing yourself to become your character as you fight for the fate of the world against gods.

It has a chance. By the jungle map there are hidden papers that describe shantien pretty well. And those papers did leak back in base rise allmother and Valstrax. So there is potential since Espinas is in rise.

I think the 2nd team might bring over some frontier stuff since they did it in the past, and also just looking at Bloodbath Diablos you can tell its more up their ally compared to the 1st team

It occurs to me that Kagero’s Letter that capcom posted on Twitter may not be referring to amatsu.
We got Velkhana and Risen Crimson Glow, who are both weaknesses of Shantien, maybe he will come.
Amatsu is referred to as "The Great Calamity" from the old games which is in Kagero's letter..it's more likely Amatsu but I'm cool with Shantien too

I have only seen a few clips of this monster. However, i wish i could create a discussion. Why have the developers not given a flagship after knowing of Wilds for nearly 9 months now, it's release predicted to be in the first 4 months of 2025, and there already being 3 trailers out? My crazy theory is what if a monster like Shantien is the flagship of the game? It might be crazy but Elderdragons have been flag ships before. I am jjst thinking what if the flagship is a monster that we haven't seen in an very very long time, or a monster in a similar position to Shantien and very few people have had a chance to ti face it in battle. It would create EXTREME excitement and maybe this is why they havent released any information on the flagship

I dont see Shantien as a monster, along with Narwa and Ibushi, idk why but they seem too intelligent, they seem more then just a monster, but like a god, along with the black dragons, safi and xeno.
Most monsters you see are just everyday regular wildlife, rathalos is just as equal to a bird, hes just wildlife, but these specific elder dragons are very different.
You look at fatalis, thats not just a wild beast, thats a god, an immortal being that destroys, not just hunt for survival.
Shantien is gonna be the child of Ibushi and Narwa, and that’s how it’ll be brought to main series

Swordfish only reason I think it’s remotely possible is that Shantien and Ibushi use the same method of flight (the blue particles that explode out of both of them when they die) and that Shantien’s final phase has both of their colors

Atmosphere wise, Ganon was great. Delivery wise... the fight was downright boring. Which is sad because BotW is a good game.
BotW scenario and bosses sucks. Bulldrome fight is more interesting than a rush of the five BotW bosses.

Think about it people, TU1-TU3 were in anticipation to both Velkhana and Risen Crimson Glow, being Velkhana weak to fire and dragon and Crimson Glow to dragon. This means that TU4 is in anticipation to TU5, which isn't Amatsu because while weak to dragon he isn't weak to ice but fire, but Shantien in its instead, who is weak to both ICE and DRAGON, elements that in TU4 got really strong monsters.
