So I had a lot of requests over the last year for an upload for Safi but was just putting it off simply because I had no idea how I was going to actually compile everything. Whether or not I would just do separate videos even for each phase or do a medley, and what would be in a medley. Finally settled on putting together what I believe to be the most complete medley for Safi on TH-cam.
So what's missing?
- No Chase Theme
- No Area 2 Mount + Target Mix
- Area 2 Target Theme Unable to be Synced Correctly (Due to Looping)
I do not have the chase theme included here, nor do I have a Main Theme + Mount + Target mix for area 2. I left the chase theme out because to me it broke the flow of what I was trying to do and how the rest of the mix was laid out. I trialed a few integrations and none of them seemed to really work or flow well. As for the area 2 Mount + Target mix, it just sounded like there was too much going on instrument wise all for a non dramatic part of the encounter. Especially because the target theme is not able to synced properly once you add a loop to the base track. I settled on an off-beat approach. Not perfect, but still okay for listening. The 1st target theme was specifically designed only to sync with the main theme in area 1 if played from 0:00. I had no issues integrating the mount theme, but the target would not line up perfectly without cutting off half of it, which I did not want to do. Was pretty weird to work on and annoyed me that there was nothing I could do to get it right. I'm usually one to substitute talent with time and work, so someone that's more of an expert than me could have found a way I'm sure. Basically the addon tracks are supposed to line up with the start of the main chanting. Which I still did, but on a looped part of the track. The only solution I saw was starting the main theme again, which was not smooth no matter how I integrated it as a loop since the chanting I felt was better served as a one off.
I think having the Mount and Target mix for Phase 3 just by itself gives more weight and drama, and fits as a sort of "final showdown" soundtrack better, even though it gets really busy with all the instruments. It suits the end of Phase 3 better, after putting it together the combo mix for area 2 just didn't sound good, and would have cheapened the effect of the mix at the end of the final area. All of the tracks were extracted and mainly just weaved together with as little audio enhancement as possible. There is some crunchy audio that was just that way when I found it, like at the 7/8 second mark for example. I found that any sort of EQ or alteration really compromised the sound just because there are just so many instruments and things going on. Only the target and mount themes are normalized and have a slight bass boost, just to identify them clearer. Otherwise there is a mini bass boost applied everywhere else just so the chanting isn't too overpowering.

That's about it for the technical stuff, wanted to say thanks once again for any previous support, and any on this upload as well! Never thought this would become a regular thing, and I just hope that this video really satisfies those requests from some of you that have followed me for quite a while now. Uploading this is the best way I can pay you back, so thanks once again!
After this I will have to see how I get on, there are still a lot of tracks from MHW and MHWI that I want to go through and add to my playlists. I haven't touched the main themes and orchaestal stuff, and I have a lot of the BGM packs just sitting there ready to be worked on. So I will have to have a think as to what the next step is audio-wise. If possible, I would go through and do a "series" for each type, like MHW main themes and such, "BGM Pack X" etc. etc.
I also want to do some ambient audio work and maybe put up some area ambient relaxation type things since I've thought about doing that. Let me know what you'd like to see so that I can add it to my constantly expanding list!
Aside from that I do plan on posting more memes, both in video and image form so keep an eye out for those - a lot of you seem to really enjoy the shorts I've put out so far! - เกม
I feel like Safi (despite how amazing his themes are) people for some reason can't compile them correctly let alone at all, some have butchered quality, others have normal, target and mount themes all mixed because they recorded mid gameplay, not to mention people who include some parts and leave out others, you on the other hand compiled everything in a nice medley with high quality and for that I thank you.
Dont forget the people that leave in the Audio clip from the Falling Star attack and it tends to be extrmely loud and appear outbof nowhere so you get semi-jumpscared

Alot of species at birth look very alien, some appear to have multiple eyes or limbs, it's to deter predators until they reach their full grown form 😁
there's something weirdly amusing about the most alien looking elder dragon maturing into a very normal looking dragon. Like when you think of the word dragon something like Safi is what would typically come to mind.
In a way it's kind of genius. Xeno was so bizarre and unexpected, and everyone expected the adult form to be even weirder. Ironically, the most unexpected and weird Safi could be was a completely normal dragon.
"Normal dragons" are rare and powerful beings in Monster Hunter verse. I think Xeno growing up to being Safi was interesting and cool choice they made.
Sometimes the most Normal looking things can be the most exciting!

And if you think about it, to the humans of Monster Hunter, to whom strange monsters like Khezu and Brachydios are the norm (and on a meta level, the Japanese devs of Capcom who likely view the Eastern dragon as the "normal" dragon) a standard European dragon probably does look incredibly strange and alien. The only other example is Fatalis, whose existence is explicitly kept secret.
I never noticed the constellations that appear in its wings when it starts consuming energy, pretty cool tbh, and backs up the sapphire star theory surrounding xeno'jiiva

Monster Hunter World had the perfect lifespan. There was not a moment during the campaign, my grinds, or the near infinite rescue missions I endured that didn't leave me feeling something new, or at least completely awestruck. Safi'Jhiva, Shara Ishvalda and Fatalis turned an already perfect experience into a once in a lifetime experience.

Having the opportunity to listen to this without worrying about trying not to die really lets you appreciate the fact that it sounds like you're facing a world-ending event.
MH gave this mental image if a monster especially a dragon is quite normal looking then is a really dangerous one. Look at Fatalis and now Safi

I love hearing the “proof of a hero” segments for both the normal and target themes. It makes me feel as if the hunter(s) are feeling powerless and losing hope when fighting safi(even more so when getting targeted) but when a bit of proof of a hero plays, I like to think the vocals are members of the guild cheering the hunters on, filling them with hope, confidence, and determination. I dunno about y’all, but that’s what I like to think when this segment comes to mind.
A bit late ere' for me but I think what also makes me love this is the fact Safi is borderline a monster in the same mythological category as Alatreon or Fatalis, if not actually.
Safi'jiivah is terrifying lore wise - you don't just have a Black Dragon notorious for being a introverted being that prefers its isolation going out of its way to raze all evidence of your being. A battle between Safi and Alatreon would be catastrophic.

@@RyoIsamuGaming A bit late for me as well but, I dont think Alatreon falls under the same category as Safi and Fatalis, from how Alatreon introduces himself in Iceborne, he just looks like an Elder that wants to be left alone by humans. I don't believe he has any evil intents. If you also take in account that you only fight Alatreon through out the franchise in areas that are completely void of any humans let alone any other life.
He's probably one of my favorite Elder Dragons ever. I love the fight, the music and his design. Sure, he looks more like a regular dragon than Xeno, but that's exactly why I think he's amazing. The targeting mechanic makes the fight so intense, it's insane and using elemental lbg against his wing arms makes you almost a guaranteed target every time.

Kinda wish Safi was this games Fatalis. Fatalis is cool and all but theres sense of finality to Safi in my opinion and for World I think it would have been a very fitting end.
That was the original intention, and Alatreon was meant to be the explanation for Safi'jiiva's ecological standing, of how these two species are in a planetary Turf War.
But then fan demand came in and they added Fatalis anyways lol.
You can really tell Fatalis was shoehorned last minute for fan demand even if the fight was well done. From a lore standpoint it feels a bit like "oh yea and this too i guess".

Well... they're master works all, you can't go wrong.
The final theme is one of the best themes I've ever heard.
The normal theme, the target theme and the mount theme don't cover each other, they just go in perfect sync.
Once you get to that point, you know Safi'jiiva really ain't holding back anymore.
It's not a hunt, it's a fight to the death against one of the most powerful dragons the Commission has ever faced.
I absolutely hate Safi's fight, but the atmosphere and emotions are incredibles.

Being a Gunner you can see everything the monster do while the Blademasters hitting the legs and all. It Feels really good seeing that view while you're trying to break the head.

This entire theme is just simply amazing, after all the music I’ve heard in my life I have to say his theme is one of the best pieces of music ever made
if you observe safi's design for a while you would notice that all of his limbs and spikes end in black, almost as if he isn't fully grown.
What if elder safi'jiiva's turn completely black before death to signify that they are truly the ultimate first class monster because most first class monsters are black, and safi is a first class level threat even before its fully black indicated by the limbs and spikes ending in black
Very nice. Finding the final phase + target is already kinda difficult, so to have basically everything in one is nice. The combination of the target effects in the final phase is pretty intense when paired with a giant angry dragon trying to delete you.
out of the few monster hunter games ive played, Safi'jiiva is by far my favorite monster.
Can't believe I've only found this now because dang what an amazing medley, one of your best yet. Hearing the medley while reading about all the considerations that you've made really elevates the experience. It also gives a small taste on the sheer passion and dedication that the MonHun team had when they were creating Safi's theme (as well as the whole game by extension).
It hasn't been that long since Safi dropped and Fatalis was released, but I still feel a slightly nostalgic of MHW:I, especially while hearing that small Proof of a Hero in Safi's theme.

Yeah the transition between the songs are actually seamless in-game, so much that I actually believe they made 4 versions (perhaps more) and run them in parallel throughout the fight, they just transition between them depending on the state of your hunter and the current stage. Then again I mostly believe I am wrong.
@nword9239 you are correct! the game plays all the osts and variants at the same time it just mutes the ones that are not currently being used so the tracks are always in sync!
So from listening to this and other rips of the target theme, I've noticed that the target part actually runs SEPERATE from the main theme and just drowns it out. It seems like it's two tracks playing at the same time.
I explained this down below somewhere. It's due to the main theme being extended by looping that it throws the target theme out of rythym.
Safi'jivva is pretty new to being an elder dragon. I bet given enough time to properly discover his true potential, he could be even more powerful than Fatalis. Thats what scares me, the fact that this thing could have become more powerful than the most feared monster there is.
That and the fact it has the ability to drain life from its surroundings, it might even be able to drain other monsters and elder dragons , gaining new abilities. God I hope safi comes back and has a turf war with fatalis
Any sources or just baseless speculation? Because the lore goes to GREAT lengths to make sure to let you know that no monster, not even another Black Dragon, comes close to Fatalis.

See, soloing fatalis is a burst fight for simple terms. 20 minutes, you and the dragon and only the perfect setup and mindset can carry you through that solo battle.
SAFI OVER HERE DESPITE WHAT YOU BRING IS AN ENTIRE ENDURANCE BATTLE AGAINST A BUILDING SIZED MONSTER *THAT CAN HEAL*.
safe to say, fighting Safi and there on soloing him feels like a true battle through and through. Just my take, but Safi's fight is a journey every single time, therefore much more memorable to me. Alongside an entirely different test of character.
Fatalis takes 3-4 hunts before getting killed in the old games solo his fight in Iceborne did him justice because he was infuriating to hunt.

One curiosity, in the iceborne lore book it states that safi reproduces by his Saphire of the emperror, so yeah its not only 1 of the 2 ultimate moves that oneshotes you but its also the world's strongest orgasm
I know some people don't like safi for some of the mechanics, but personally I like him. Just a good ol' fashioned giant laser dragon. A simple gentle sailor.

It's because the game syncs the addon tracks from the first part of the main theme. And since I had to loop the main theme and extended it - it isn't possible to sync it back up. I needed a lot of wings for the armor, but sadly I am no gunner, the most experience I have with ranged weapons was in 4U in the arena quests (yeah those were tough so I was adept with bow in 4U), but I had not touched bow in world, so I just went, practiced some combos, tried some armors and decos, and returned to smash some wings. Now I do not understand bowguns but I know bow in world, at least enough to consistently smash both wings in 1st and 2nd phase.

I don't really! I just really am picky with the way I like to listen to my music, so I've been looping and cutting and mixing music for quite a while now just for personal listening.
I ended up just uploading some of it because there seemed to be a niche just for similar people that wanted good quality soundtracks, with a few quality of life additions by me. Really crazy that this many people have actually followed me for this sort of stuff now!

you know I've only played monster hunter rise for about 4 hours and even then I can appreciate how good this music is... My friend who has like 700 hours in monster hunter talks to me about it all the time...
I just realized something pretty cool. So as we all know, Safi evolved from Xeno, the final boss of World. Its special ability is Sapphire Of The Emperor, and everyone after you beat the game in Astera calls you the Sapphire Star. What if Xeno somehow knew that and evolved specifically to take down the hunter that killed it, not ever really dieing? Kind of like Fatalis?

I wish he was classified as a black dragon. He is insanely powerful. Sure, not fatalis strong, but definitely comparable to Alatreon.
About that, actually:
It's theorized from Ecology stuff that one of the only things that could probably halt a rampaging Safi'Jiivah WOULD be Alatreon or another Black Dragon, effectively by extension making Safi a First-Class threat. After all, the Commission IMMEDIATELY branded it as a priority target to take down when active due to a fear of the damage it could do to the environment.
The dive into iceborne book pretty much confirmed that he's the reason Alatreon and Fatalis woke up and that he's equal to them
It was confirmed he is as strong as Fatalis. Red dragons are the opposites of black dragons, Safi being Fatalis anti thesis. This is why Alatreon destroyed the nest.
I hope we will get epic fights like this when gen 6 drops on next gen
