By the time you hear the scurrying claws of the Deinonychus, it's often too late. Superior hunters, they leap from a hiding place and pounce on their prey. The Deinonychus is an agile climber as well, jumping from wall ledge to wall ledge as it seeks high vantage points to lie in wait.
A hungry Deinonychus tends to be fearless and will hunt prey much larger than itself, latching onto a dinosaur's back with its sickle-shaped claws, then starting to feed before its victim is even dead. While it likes its meat fresh, a Deinonychus isn't above scavenging a carcass if no other food is available.
Domesticated
Raising a Deinonychus in captivity requires an ample food supply, as they have a fast metabolism to match their high activity level. The Deinonychus is also fiercely territorial near nests with eggs, even if the eggs aren't its own. This makes breeding successive generations a hazardous process.
Unless raised from eggs, they cannot be tamed; the hunter instinct of a wild Deinonychus is so strong that it reflexively pounces on a would-be master.
The best way to take down a Deinonychus is to use a long ranged weapon such as a crossbow or rifle. If you bring a large mount, beware that they can latch onto it, therefore using large creatures such as Brontos, Rexes, Spinos, or Mammoths, is a weakness. If you don’t have a ranged weapon and they latch on to your mount, you’ll need to either use a melee weapon in which case, you need to be careful because you can hurt your tame, or you can wait for the Deinonychus to run out of stamina which is not the best idea. If you are stealing eggs, then you definitely need to be prepared with a good mount because there is most likely going to be a pack of Deinonychus. It’s suggested to use a flyer so you’ll be safe. Make sure to steal the egg and then QUICKLY escape because the Deinonychus can pounce on you which can pose a great threat as it gives time for the rest of the pack to arrive.
It is able to latch onto large creature such as a Rex.png Rex or Brontosaurus.png Brontosaurus, making them hard to hit via conventional means. To make it even more dangerous, they are able to glide upwards to latch onto a nearby ledge similar to the Rock Drake.png Rock Drake, and pounce and attack much like the Raptor.png Raptor (It can't dismount you though). They also cause a bleed effect that stacks and makes them even more dangerous.

While latched onto a large Creature, it can mostly only attack the said creature until it releases itself out, making it extremely vulnerable to any attacks from other Creatures or ranged weapons.
The Deinonychus is weak on knockbacks like raptors. Using a Trike with a decent amount of HP can easilly kill a pack or two at once. While latched they can still get hit by attacks from to one they are riding
A wild Deinonychus cannot be tamed due to its wild nature of killing survivors through its natural instinct. Similar to the Wyvern.png Wyvern and Rock Drake.png Rock Drake, a fertilized Dinosaur Egg.png Deinonychus Egg must be stolen from a nest or bred, and hatched to obtain a tamed Deinonychus.
The incubation temperature is between 75 and 80 degrees fahrenheit , or 24 to 26 degrees celsius. - เกม

How come no one ever mentions you can charge the jump on walls and go either high as hell or far? That's great. You can EASILY jump from wall to wall across the scar. As long as you don't hit an angle, you can bounce around avoiding things till your stamina is out.

The bleed thing is useful when there are 4 of them on you. Thanks to not being able to bite or hit them off your back with a Dino, you have to use weapons or other Dino’s. Pretty good starter creature for someone who just got a pteranodon

Pump speed points, I got mine to 260% and you can get around soooooo easily and quickly. It is also fantastic for the ice wyvern trench idk why but these thing shred the ice wyverns and can easily climb the walls.

The whole point of it is that it’s a glass cannon. You can jump at someone and do a lot of dmg along with a bit extra with the bleed before running away. So it tbh shouldn’t be able to be hit by the Dino’s it’s pounced on but it can do a lot of dmg and run.
With how good its tracking is i could see this being somewhat useful against the mana metta

Don’t forget weapons can be held on the deinonychus super useful early game. Considering it’s one of the fastest ground mounts, it can be an exceptional middleman for your rifle and whatever you’re trying to tame

I really like this Dino because you are pretty fast on land, and you can almost jump over the big rivers
As a person who has bred them since valguero initial release, I have hatched and raised hundreds of them for pvp. My initial start stats were 1440hp 630stam 314melee...now 2560hp 1020stam 496melee...could be farther but I had a few month break in between. They are very powerful for their size. A pack of 3 overpowered a 100%imprint 30khp 650melee reaper no charge light, they shred soakers, and are great for scouting and rocket running

It’s actually really good for valguero because it can move around white cliffs easily and it can deal with the allos and rexes and raptors making it quite useful, yes a flying Dino might be good for moving around but not good for fighting or for moving fast in quick time. It’s a good Dino especially since you can take it as soon as you are level 3 you just need to pick up a egg and make a campfire it’s not later game or mid game but is good for mid game to begging game and a strong enough one will be able to stay in the end game. So go use it for it’s actual purpose then just pvp and you will see it’s good (it’s also quite good at pvp because it can move fast it’s small can climb and grab onto Dino’s making them very hard to kill or shoot they are quite good and can be very useful when used with someone who knows how to use it well).

I love it. It helps me get through the forest fast and easy and climb rock faces fast as I can jump. I could fly but the constant need to land and hope I’ve got land below me... I’d rather stay on the ground or glide with the rock drake.
If I’m using it I’m going out looking around and observing. If I’m in a hurry I’ll grab my drake and if I’m needing to haul I grab my argentavis.
To summarize lol I love this new addition personally. But that’s just me.

I just tested the leap ability and if your fighting solo against a trex. You can latch on the leg of it and kill it, the rex will spin around trying to get you. But I only tried it once

I think this dino is very good at traveling the map, it can climb that is very useful because in this map cliffs are everywhere, it can jump kinda high and covers a lot of distance and is fast so that's what a deinoco is useful for
Well Deinonychus can not take any fall damage and I think it’s eggs can make very good kibble and I think it might get a pack buff

This was the first dino I got because I somehow stumbled upon a egg and just innocently took it and walked off. Game changer.
Can you strap dinos with c4? I've never tried it but if you can, you could probably get a ton of them and strap them with c4 and have them latch onto dinos and explode. Basically, heat seeking c4

It could be used as an ambush distraction, like bump up stamina then hide in a tree so you can ambush your target. Then a bunch of Rex’s or something will come in and finish the job
Fun fact this is what the velociraptor is based on, jurrasic park started the myth that the velociraptor was a big theropod , whrn it was actually about the size of a hyper aggresive chicken, but velociraptor sounded cooler

The ones we have are super tough and have a shit ton on stamina. If you imprint all the way they are super op.
on the wiki The tusotheuthis has a WALKING speed of 7500 being the second fastest dino ( first is alpha tusotheuthis).
