Wonderful rehouse. She was so well behaved and so important to show that while some spiders will be defensive most of the time they will want to hide and if you treat them right and read their behaviour it goes well. Great video.
Never thought of using pvc! That's so smart. Cork bark has been causing us molding issues and fancy hides are so pricy. Thank you so much for sharing!

@@GoliathArachnids I have such a phobia of spiders! I’m a keeper of snakes and lizards but I’ve never been able to get over my arachnophobia… I’ve even held a tarantula at an expo(actually cried after) because unfortunately I have passed on my fear to my son. I have been looking at TH-camrs that have jumping spiders and thought I would start small?…feel the stress in me with just that one possibility?…lol…. I dropped my phone had to edited..lol anyways as I was saying I’m proud of myself for being able to watch a spider in my yard making its web and being able to look inside a tarantulas habitat without screaming when it moves! 🙄 yes I’m that scared.
@@12342087 I think you’re moving in the right direction. Desensitizing one to a fear takes small steps. I wish you nothing but the best in your journey.
This isnt just Master level OBT rehousing, its GRAND Master Level.
Not going to lie that comment made me chuckle and thanks she was a very good participant.
If I had one criticism, it would be to have just left the catch bottle inside the new enclosure and let the spider come out on its own. There was no reason to open the cap.
@@NeuroticLobster that is another valid way to easily transfer a tarantula. I prefer to help them along just for ease and time constraints.
Instead of opening the cap, how about making a small hole in it and putting the brush through it to coach the obt a little. I’ve definitely learned a technique from you. Subscribed! 😊
She was extremely chill and you have experience. People that are new to keeping and get these because they are so cheap and do a rehoming get freaked out and stuff gets out of control. Most of the earth tigers we have are so many types I can't type them all here are way more difficult to deal with when rehousing. I do the same as you only I have small holes to place my brush in on my catch cups. I've got a Singapore blue that with make you have some second thoughts about opening her lid vers any of our obts or even our female Kings. I love em I just give them their space totally unless feeding or a rehousing.
My one and only suggestion with these guys. Dont use wooden tongs and if you have a particular hyper one. Use a straw with a flexible tip along with tongs if you want to lessen the possibility of them flying up them. They can still grip metal.ones but you can certainly feel the difference between those silly wooden ones when you have one that's umm not really happy that you are I dunno breathing.
Like I said I love them,but I have many others I use just as much if not more care because they are just straight up not feeling being messed with.
Don't even get me started on a few of the pokies we have. Their still all my babies and I love them.
Its nice to see this method being used more...I've always used the pop bottles with the bottoms cut off....I believe it makes the T feel much safer and avoids any potential bolts or bites. I drill holes in the lids large enough to get a wooden skewer in to persuade the T up or down. Great video !

Nicely done, only just found your channel, it's nice to see you using the bottle method, I've always done it that way, less stressful to the T and less chance of bolting, beautiful girl too, just started my channel, not done a rehouse on it....yet, got a female pokie to go over soon so could be fun. 👍🏻

Agreed with what you say to know their temperment and try and figure out all avenues of escape and stay calm. I am somewhat new to the hobby and I 12 t's ...new world and old world. Have never had an issue in rehousing. She is beautiful btw.
Yeah the key is always to try to stay calm. Sometimes things will go wrong but freaking out never makes the situation any easier for anyone. Also welcome to the hobby it’s the most addictive one you can get into that’s for sure.
Great video! Got a T. Stirmi sling from you a few months back at the Herps show and it's doing great! Molted and nearly doubled in size. Absolutely can not wait until she's a few inches across

Also, a great "free" sling enclosure is an empty Talenti ice cream container. I've turned a few fellow arachnid geeks on to these. Great for those of us who live in earthquake zones because there is no way they would break or pop open during a quake.
I’ve seen that ice cream but never took the plunge, may have an excuse to try it now 🤔. Although this is one of the things I absolutely love about this hobby is so much of it can be dyi.

They tend to be very bolts when they are young and simmer down the older they get in my experience.
