- Well today's the day!
Time to rehouse the beautiful yet notorious OBT, Orange Baboon Tarantula, Orange Bitey Thing or more properly Pterinochilus murinus.
A stunning Old World Spider with notorious us reputation for being very defensive. Our girl lives up to their reputation with her seemingly bite first asks questions later attitude .
I hope you enjoy todays build.
Thanks for watching,
Biggs
You’re not just an excellent spider keeper, you’re also a true artist! You’ve not only displayed care and concern for your spiders which is most commendable in and of itself, but also you’ve displayed passion for your hobby in the way you design your enclosures both for the spider’s best care and for people to appreciate it!
This is exactly why I enjoy doing it. People like yourself with such incredible motivating words. Truly humbled. Thank you
Gotta love OBTs... the beauty! Always gotta be a lil spicy!lol
There’s a reason they are so popular
she is a true beauty. u r lucky to have her. i have a juvenile and hope she will be as beautiful as yours. they are truly my favorite. my love at first site T. i have no idea why but when she gives a threat pose, which isn't often, i am proud of her. lol
A true classic! All the best my friend
Great video as always
Appreciate that
Brazil has many cool spiders
I agree 100%, I have several
Beautiful spider. Also, that's a really interesting method for making a naturalistic background!
Thank you! 😊
Absolutely love this method of making the background. Such a good idea. I guess the downside is it would be pretty difficult to get it off though?
Hi, just found your channel and subbed. Great videos 🕷🧡🕷
Welcome aboard my new friend! Thats truly kind thank you
That setup is sick I've got a juvi female obt she's quite spicy but it's to be expected
Great video, enclosure looks amazing, it's always nice to have a little attitude from them, my kigoma was a grumpy one when I moved her, threat posture for hours afterwards lol 👍🏻
But we love them
@@themadaquaristsrealmnatura2556 oh we do indeed, if everything was calm and hassel free it would be boring
@@seansspoods9521 agree 1000%
You made that look so easy. Just curious you said you got tagged by an OBT did you have to go to the hospital?
No I did not, however it wasn’t my first bite from a tarantula
Where do you get the info cards for the enclosures?
Jared Page on Facebook. I believe he also has a page on FB exotic pet decor
Just out of curiosity because I see you’re more experienced than me, have you ever experienced a tarantula getting its foot caught in the exo terra mesh screen top? Or any issues with it at all? I just switched over to acrylic tops since I’ve heard about issues but haven’t actually seen evidence.
I personally no but other channels talk about it. I’m sure it’s happened but as to how often I couldn’t say.
@@themadaquaristsrealmnatura2556 do you plan to ever switch over to glass/acrylic tops?
@@geraldsreptiles7003 I did do several at the beginning. However drilling holes too small to inhibit escape feeder insects became a challenge. Too small no ventilation, too large and escape loose in my ‘owner’ (wife’s) house lol.
So I’m essence of family harmony I stopped and haven’t had an issue this far
Do you sterilize the substrate before use? And if so, how do you do that?
I do not
@@themadaquaristsrealmnatura2556 Thanks for the reply.
I'm getting an OBT soon and I'm looking for a good substrate option.
So...did it feel like a hot poker going into you?
Not really at the time but the pain was severe very quickly and endured
