Meet the Flock- Zazu the green wing macaw
In this Meet the Flock episode, we dive into Zazu, my rescue green wing macaw back story. He came to me after I met him a year ago while working at a private zoo. He was donated to the zoo after living in less than favorable conditions, which caused him to have some medical and behavioral issues. However, since coming home with me, he has been converted to a healthy lifestyle, including nutritious foods, exercise, and endless love.
What I feed Zazu.
-Sprouted seeds (video explaining here- th-cam.com/video/-tjz0ApDGbU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RnZ4rU0BXSNJkxp1 )
-Chopped fresh vegetables (the more variety, the better but always make sure they are safe for birds)
-Occasional fruits (low-sugar berries are a favorite with my flock)
-Fresh and dried herbs
-Harrisons pellets (Amazon affiliate link amzn.to/48eNPaj )

      Sorry for the late response but when they are in their tunnels put a catch cup at the entrance and kind of gently poke the ground. The disturbance on the surface of their tunnel sometimes will have them shoot out of their hiding spot into the cup.

    • @ModernDayRaptors1
      @ModernDayRaptors1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the 60 are to large for the size packing boxes I use. It would cook the tarantulas before they even left their starting hub.

    • @briancuprisin4571
      @briancuprisin4571 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ModernDayRaptors1 that contradicts what you said in the video. You have the 60 hour packs and you said that if it's really cold or you think the spider might be stuck in transit for longer than normal, you use them. What am I missing here?

    • @ModernDayRaptors1
      @ModernDayRaptors1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@briancuprisin4571 if I suspect that there maybe an issue (a trend of package delays) I would normally use a larger box. This would allow me to put heat pack on one side instead of on top which the smaller boxes would require. Using a larger box than is necessary regularly would just inflate costs because bigger the box the more expensive it is to ship regardless if weight stays the same. It also depends on what your starting temperatures in which you’re shipping from. The 60 hour heat packs heat up much quicker than the 40 and then their residual heat keeps them going for longer. If you’re starting at a point that’s on the higher end it can become dangerous.

    She was extremely chill and you have experience. People that are new to keeping and get these because they are so cheap and do a rehoming get freaked out and stuff gets out of control. Most of the earth tigers we have are so many types I can't type them all here are way more difficult to deal with when rehousing. I do the same as you only I have small holes to place my brush in on my catch cups. I've got a Singapore blue that with make you have some second thoughts about opening her lid vers any of our obts or even our female Kings. I love em I just give them their space totally unless feeding or a rehousing. My one and only suggestion with these guys. Dont use wooden tongs and if you have a particular hyper one. Use a straw with a flexible tip along with tongs if you want to lessen the possibility of them flying up them. They can still grip metal.ones but you can certainly feel the difference between those silly wooden ones when you have one that's umm not really happy that you are I dunno breathing. Like I said I love them,but I have many others I use just as much if not more care because they are just straight up not feeling being messed with. Don't even get me started on a few of the pokies we have. Their still all my babies and I love them.
