When I first watched this video, I was happy because I thought the prices were so cheap, but after I watched a documentary made by Runi Cenet and his team where I saw the poorest of the poorest country, then I watched this for the 2nd time, I realized it's really heartbreaking that in the other side of Burundi people are dying due to starvation while in the other side people are living in a better state 😢

I love the fact that they might be considered as poorest country, but their structures, establishments, and facilities are way cleaner than other poor-yet considered as richer countries than them.

the government encourages a "cleaning day" a day or two every month where the communities that live in the bigger cities come together, go up and down the streets, and picks up all the trash.

@@guser436 that happens a lot in almost every poor country. It's because they associate Europeans and Americans with wealth. But prices of goods are already dirt cheap in many poor countries, so I don't think it hurts the average tourist to spend a few cents more. I've seen a tourist negotiate the price of an umbrella from 85 cents to 50 cents in one of these countries. If it was me, I would have actually paid at least a dollar, rather than negotiate such a low price.

Life has become a lot harder for us, people outside the capital can't or have a really hard time visiting the capital and touristic locations around the country because all the prices have been adjusted to foreigners. Even local home renting has become a lot harder as the owners prefer to rent to tourists so we're paying a lot more than we were a couple years ago just to have a place to sleep

Agreed. If he really wanted to help those people he'd have bought food they could cook at home or taken them to a restaurant. I did a similar thing many years ago in India with a Sri Lankan refugee buying him snacks instead of a proper meal. Experience helps us to make better decisions but seems this guy has been around... Still his actions although meaning well seem kind of offensive. He could at least say wow its so cheap and the quality is so great and the people so nice... something other than how cheap it is. The bracelet vendor was not impressed to say the least ;)
