Just look at the kind of hatred Rishi Sunak receives from UK people. After all, HOW can such BRUTAL COLONISERS ESCAPE from RACIST MINDSET. Their OBSESSION with WHITE SKIN shows their ORTHODOX MENTALITY that has nothing to do with SCIENCE, as the change in skin tone from DARK TO WHITE is totally based on amount of sunlight a region experiences. In all videos you have spoken to, the common theme is Family. And therein lies the essence of Indian culture. Once you understand that and the role family plays in people’s lives, India is an open book.

Indians need to be individualistic, all these family cultures have a side people don't see from outside where you compromise, don't respect individuality and force to comform and live a very self conscious life.
Having a culture’s base be family is not a good thing my guy. It opens people up to so much abuse within that construct that is hidden away for the ‘sake of the family’, having family be most important thing is just a form of control. Not to mention in this modern day and age blood should not be thicker than water, we’re all human beings on this earth we should have value based on our behaviour and actions, not how genetically close we are to someone.
Nice to hear other peoples experiences of India as an expat or long term resident.I'm Australian and spent multiple years living in a small village in Goa with my Goan husband in the 1990's. I also found that my use of english changed to suit the local grammar style and my accent became slightly 'Indianised'. I was unaware of this until my sister mentioned it to me later. I also had difficulty with the Konkani language though finally managed to have functional Konkani after a couple of years. It made local travel and day to day life less isolating. Not many people I knew spoke english at that time. Now when I go back to Goa, the percentage of native Goan's living in Goa seems less than the that of Indians from other states and Hindi seems to the dominant language used 'on the ground'. I love the food but never got used to the really really hot dishes - this didn't matter as we cooked most of our own food and I learned heaps of wonderful recipes. The only time I fell ill from food was from a cup of chai while staying in a cheap hotel in Old Delhi. My favourite thing was to bus into Margoa for shopping and stop for idli sambar and chai or puri badjo and chai before catching the bus home again. It was a simple life, I loved it. Mind you there is a lot of paperwork and bureaucratic hurdling to do with utilities, bill paying, council interactions and transport which can be time consuming and tiring if limited to buses.
A hot cup of chai should not make you ill. It could have been the cup itself if it was a cheap hotel. The guy here said that spices may be the reason people get sick but actually there’s bacteria which makes people sick. And when I say people I mean foreigners. Indians have a resistance to these bacteria…my friend and I ate the same food and only one of us got sick. Usually it’s water related so always drink packaged mineral water and don’t try pani-puri, local popsicles etc. Fruit juice from a street shop is fine as long as it doesn’t have ice in it because even the ice is made from the same tap water. Tea is safe because it’s steaming hot and that kills any bacteria but in your case that didn’t help.
Goa is inexorably slow for most Indians. We go there when we want to slow down. It's lovely but definitely not the place for efficiency. Most Indians would lose patience if they have to live there!
Yo I’m from Goa!! But my family is descendants of European settlers, but Konkani is wayy easier for me to visit again tho Also it’s Margão not Margoa 🤣

Constantly being shamed about work visa fraud and immigration, female related violence in India hurts our image tremendously. But this is a big ploy by the western UK/US elite. They will continue to portray that to show their supremacy. There is little we can do about it as individuals. The elite all have their investments in the US. They will not speak up. Shockingly India is now the poorest country in the world. Nigeria overtook India. It’s tough. Indian Union is a messy chaotic place where there is no unity to fight this trade and wealth imbalance. All big cities around the world and in India including Bangalore will be finished or become ghost towns due to impending de-dollarization after 2025. Tier 2 towns and Tier 3 villages have more scope
I'm Asian American and I am not from India. I thought the same about Slumdog Millionaire and I saw it in the US in a university town which appreciates Indian culture very much. That movie was actually made by a British director who lived in Mumbai and was touted as someone who knows the city very well.
India is not portrayed well or even correctly in that movie. India is huge economy, on its way to become the 3rd largest in the world. The movie in no way does justice to rich Indian culture or our economic heft.

India now is pretty globalized. If you go to Google and type restaurants in Kohima and restaurants in Aizawl, you will be recommended several restaurants with google ratings above 4. Then you will find a whole lot of Italian, Korean and Chinese restaurants and you will even see pictures of funky mocktails. You can type restaurants in Hakha and Kale, Myanmar nearby across the border, what you will see are only some local joints serving Burmese food. However, there are foreigners only visiting slums in India and eating street foods, then they fall sick and an impression is created that India only has street food which makes you sick. Then I was seeing the list of 50 best restaurants in Asia, Odette from Singapore is ranked 6, Meta in Singapore is ranked 17, Masque in Mumbai is ranked 16th and Indian Accent in Delhi is ranked 19th. One of the best chefs in the world is Gaggan Anand who has opened a fine dining Indian restaurant called Gaggan Anand in Bangkok ranked 5th in Asia.

Very nice! I am an Indian living in the west and I do feel that westerners are not even aware of how great living in India is. All they know of India is what is shown in movies like Slumdog Millionaire and White tiger. If only the media and entertainment showed the world the greatness of my country rather than showing just the flaws...which by the way in Canada, the US and the UK are much much more.
Not true... I watch an Indian vlogger from Odisha(sp)? who lives in a village he mainly vlogs on food but also shows you around the village...his life has changed a lot since he started a utube channel..personally I find it very interesting but do come away feeling frustrated that people should live in such poverty when their country is sending rockets to wherever.....but that's me......hopefully one day the money will trickle down to the villages....
@@ginashiel105 you didn't understand what I meant. Let me repeat in a nutshell for you...every country has its flaws but the media is biased towards showing only the flaws that India has whereas western countries have a lot of huge issues too which nobody wants to show. That's unfair. In Canada, the US and the UK, healthcare is a joke. Nobody talks about that. Gun killings are a big issue in the US, nobody talks about that. Drugs consumption is a big issue here in North America, nobody talks about that. The list is even longer. But I think it's clear what I am trying to say here.
Of course we know the flaws in the West and its shown through the media...maybe you aren't looking in the right places.....we are painfully aware and try to address the issues by trying to vote for people who actually care about their country and its people....and that is not an easy task as there is a lot of corruption in high places...!

So if they're talking about nice lifestyles, good restaurants, then show something that depicts that as well. Because the truth is that the India that expats will live is not the same India as someone who may be in chronic poverty.
@harisadu8998 'Chronic poverty" in big Indian cities are in pockets just like how you can find ghettos in certain places in all western nations. Point is majority does not live in "chronic poverty" regardless of country of residence.
It came as a big surprise after I'd sent the link for this video to Czech friend who now lives in Mumbai. He knows Jamie, the expat in the video!!!! All big cities will be reset along with their positives and negatives. Tier 2 towns and Tier 2 villages have better scope after 2025.

Because things are very different for a man and a woman in India. In terms of security and socialising, it is too very different.

@@Vitamins152incredible... I know that as a British man our past is a rocky one... But the greatness of India historically is even better than even the great British Geniuses and Inventors who crafted the modern world as we know it. India had probably already done it all way before the British took the forefront of the world stage for a few hundred years and became responsible for inventions and discoveries previously thought to be way beyond Human comprehension... Hi, I think you’re wrong about why you get a dodgy belly, and it’s got nothing to do with spice levels, its very definitely hygiene. I was born and lived in Mumbai 26 years before I moved and settled in England 20 years ago. Back then I could eat anything and everything + copious amounts of street food and be alright. Over the past few years of me visiting Mumbai I’ve noticed if I ate foods of the street I would be violently sick + diarrhoea. I have to be very careful of the foods that I eat and water I drink.

As an Indian residing abroad, it's so nice to listen to people living in India. Thanks for bringing in these interesting prospectives. I very much miss my city of Mumbai but due to the constant construction i was compelled to leave, at least for a while.
As a black westerner when I traveled there I found India to be the most filthiest and most racist country on earth.
They are desperate to be white and desperate to have validation from a white person, if they get even a whiff that they are not getting validated of their fake glories, they get extremely mad/upset under the garb of 'colonial history '.
The black nations in India from Calcata to Madras are particularly racist.
Lastly, India is a multinational, multiracial, multiethnic, multicultural subcontinent turned into a country by the Brits but they never give this credit to the Brits.

Thanks for your comments. You still need your own transport in Goa to get around. But all the utility payments have gone online.
Goa is inexorably slow for most Indians. We go there when we want to slow down. It's lovely but definitely not the place for efficiency. Most Indians would lose patience if they have to live there!
Yo I’m from Goa!! But my family is descendants of European settlers, but Konkani is wayy easier for me to visit again tho

Welcome Max ,,,regards and proud and appreciate the great compassion and India and UK have lived together for 300 years and we need to get to the goodness of each other
Khalistani?
Still you went to live in west 😂😂😂😂😂WHAT A HYPOCRISY SON
Actually Cycling is very easy if you are adapted to it and that too in most crowded places. Yes, you'lll have to slow down a bit or may even have to stop sometimes. But still its quite safe. All things aside I personally feel, having lived abroad for close to 30 years, that outside of India there is focus only on materialism whereas in India spiritualism is paramount in manifesting material comforts.
Materialism has increased in india multifolds
Yes, and India's spiritualism is the reason why many, many westerners are always coming back to India❤🇮🇳
Actually it is the currency difference when he calculates everything in £. Main thing is the medical help you get. Even the poorest of poor in India can get almost free health benefits by the Govt. Compare that to the UK. Whether in Pounds or Rupees that is not available in UK 😊
Lastly, India is a multinational, multiracial, multiethnic, multicultural subcontinent turned into a country by the Brits but they never give this credit to the Brits...
But uk is a free healthcare country right?
@@nukebarbarbarian3735 yup 👍. In UK it is almost free for all residing in UK. But very very expensive in the US. You take months to get a dentist's appointment
My phone was charging. Had to yank it out to respond. Why don’t YOU go and get the ‘free government healthcare which the poorest of the poor can get’ in India.
Free healthcare? Are you serious? most of Government hospital are in very bad condition.
UK, Canada has free healthcare(Well not really free, Its deducted in tax but still if you get any major disease you won't be bankrupt), you must be confused with USA where healthcare is insane. Indian hospitals as not expensive as USA but still for average working class its burn the pocket.
You forgot to mention one important point about india .. the easy availability of healthcare and over the counter medicines, no unrealistic waitings for doctor’s appointments.
Must appreciate your understanding and respect for a Indian culture.

Max, try to do some background shots that relate to the things that the expats are talking about. So if they're talking about nice lifestyles, good restaurants, then show something that depicts that as well. Definitely!
@harisadu8998 'Chronic poverty" in big Indian cities are in pockets just like how you can find ghettos in certain places in all western nations. Point is majority does not live in "chronic poverty" regardless of country of residence.

Awww... soo happy to hear good words about Delhi ❤.... even Indians have misconceptions about Delhi...
The two big reasons (which we all are aware of) have massively impacted the reputation of the capital and have made it the most hated capital in the world even amongst Indians. As an example just compare the number of likes in this comment as compared to some of the other ones related to Mumbai.
I want to live in India as well.
Mother India welcomes and embraces all who respect and appreciates Bharat.
Great video!, Though i suggest reviewing South India, because its completely different here, less traffic and a lot more nature.
Not in the middle of Chennai it's not, or up and down the Old Mahabalipuram Road.
umm have u seen bangalore??
I met a Portuguese guy on Instagram an year ago and surprisingly he visited India and stayed with me st my house for 4 days,we visited a number of Historical monuments, river Ganga and temples in those 4 days. Now he is planning to retire after 5 years and wants to settle in India somewhere in Jodhpur and would like to be in tourism there.
In India, there is a lot to see and much much more to feel. It's a civilization, not a colony.
A very nice conversation with the expat. I wish Max had asked the Englishman what brought him to India in the first place, and how he kept himself occupied -- both in Delhi and in Mumbai.
Maybe there is a second vid!
@@expat_in_india I hope there is one. The observations of this Englishman are very perceptive.
love this foreigners in india series Max. keep up the good work
Thank so much you for sharing geniune things about India🙏. I agree, even we are living in India we won't prefer street food but surely good restaurants maintain hygiene and taste 👍 . Traffic is very big problem in India ☹️. Controlling Weather is not possible but we need little change in life style during summer, like by changing food in take.😊 India is the best place on earth to live 😍 I love my country ❤️.
It was my pleasure to account on my time in India.
Me too❤
@@expat_in_india You are one of the very few people from the West who actually presented the good and great side of India. Being an Indian, I thank you for that.😊. I'm from Delhi too.
This is a great interview. Very interesting
Beyond using common sense in terms of hygiene, the condition of a foreigner's stomach - be it in India or elsewhere - is mostly about adapting to the local microbiome.
It will take many lifetimes to see and experience what India has to offer.
That was spot on.
glad to see the conversation as it was full of positivity and truth
It always depends on one's attitude. If one is of a positive out look in life, he sees positive things, if negetive negetive things. Depends on what one is searching for, Garbage or sweet things.
Wonderful hearing this... India is very safe but still be a little careful as in other countries... Go with old friends to new places
In west bengal we do use the bicycle a lot , i have not seen that much in other parts of india except in east india. In east there is western influence more I think, u will find certain things here in the east than in other parts of india which will be good or much easier for ppl like u. Maybe south india is easier too to adjust
My kids also grew up with nanny, and were surprised when I told them that back in Canada, USA most of people dont have one!
You can become Vin Diesel of Bicycle if you learn to ride here 😂
India always welcomes people who have an open mind and want to educate themselves and live in harmony with the local population.
I appreciate you made this video. Could you also kindly use videos showing bright side of india like those big roads, cars , buildings, bridges rather than hawkers and slums..
Exactly. Congested markets, hawkers is all I could see
I’m American
I ride my bicycle across India.
Love it so much
Hi, I think you’re wrong about why you get a dodgy belly, and it’s got nothing to do with spice levels, its very definitely hygiene.
The man living in Mumbai hits the nail on its head when he talks about Slumdog millionaire and that India is not just rich and poor
Let me fix 1M...😂😂😂
I am a Indian In United Kingdom... Missing India ❤
