I'd imagine that the folks that had gone from Interplay to Obsidian probably had the concept of a possible FNV already in their heads, but yeah, it's boggling how all of this was actually put together in the span of 18 months. I remember when it launched on 360 it was pretty janky but still it's such an amazing achievment.
Spax Worstlee Well they already had it written and scripted for the most part. Look up Fallout Van Veron. Also look up Alpha Protocol. I just *knew* there had to be a cut area where underpass was. There is a spattering of junkies and random neutral NPCs out that way and it felt a little strange that these people were just chilling in an area with not much other than angry mole rats and wind brahmin. I always just thought I was supposed to use my imagination and infer that people were living out in that direction, which I suppose is true to a certain extent given how the structures remain. On the bright side, the area does provide a little opportunity for “quiet time” (using the definition of the term that Super Bunny Hop’s video on the subject describes). A good portion of players I’ve seen play head to the boomers via freeside right after getting to the strip the first time and doing all the big events there. Being able to walk out of the urban center and then detox with some countryside strolling helps you cool down after the barrage of quests that comes with the strip. That obviously wasn’t plan A for the area, but we can consider it a happy little accident :)
I always imagined the junkies there as strung out but resourceful so they scored some on the strip or freeside then they went out cause they know the land
I just noticed while playing just now that the message for repairing underpass' water purifier was recycled in the final game as the message to repair Sloan/quarry junctions generator. The message reads "This generator would provide power to Quarry Junction, if it were functional. Whoever assembled it had no idea what they were doing - many parts are connected incorrectly or hooked up backwards. Someone with the proper knowledge could easily get the generator operational." It has a 35 repair skill requirement to fix or you can strip it for parts and break it permenantly.
Something that disappointed me was that we never see a true Caesar Legion Settlement it would’ve been interesting to see a Small casino that’s mainly broken down with corruption in the casino and slaves or seeing houses for legion soldiers Only settlement we see is their main base
Devin Ehh Nelson didn’t even have any Slaves or any Settlers Besides 3 captured NCR Soldiers It would’ve been more cooler Rescuing NCR Civilians besides 3 soldier’s. However I’m happy that you can actually have a full battle before hoover dam by taking Nelson Back
Caesar's Legion doesnt tolerate corruption and view gambling as being d'generate. They'd probably just repurpose a Casino into an armory, Mess Hall or medical bay.

It brings tears to my heart to hear everything that could have been ,but Im happy that we have modders to thank to when they bring back a piece of a a great idea of a real Fallout feeling Mojave that was left on the cutting room floor
I understand why they cut the Big Guns skill, it isn't worth the investiment gameplay-wise unless you could get this kind of weapon earlier (that would probably break game balance) or make them very powerful, but only accesible on late-game. And none of them sound particularly good.
Honestly I like that they cut the skill. It was always annoying that the Gatling Laser wasnt counted as a Big Gun despite just being a battery operated Minigun as far back as Fallout 1. On the flipside, The Missile Launcher not being an "explosives" weapon in Fallout made it kind of confusing. I feel like the best compromise for those problems would have been to have both weapons calculate their effectiveness by a 50/50 split between the two skills or something.
New Vegas made all weapons to have a strength requisite. That's enough to make all of the sense. You still have the guns or energy skill affecting their projectile effectiveness but handling itself is calculated by strength. That's the best compromise. Also I use jsawyer mod which gives every weapon it's correct attribute making explosive builds actually possible.

I know I'd love to see cut content throughout the Fallout series, but I'm honestly open to any series or game. You have a very good style to your videos and you definitely deserve more exposure.
At some point soon, I'm going to take a break from F:NV and make a 4 or 5 episode mini-series on another Fallout game. I've been making this series for nearly two years now, so after this is finished, I'm really not sure what's next.
@@TriangleCity Sweet, I'm definitely excited for that. And as for whats next I'm certain you'll find something that fits with your channels ascetic. Thanks for the reply, and keep up the great work!
I wish the heavy weapon skill would have been implemented in regardless as the the skill in fallout one and two made it so if you wanted to go with a energy weapons or heavy weapons build you’d have to struggle through the early game but in the mid to late game be rewarded with weaponry that far surpasses small guns and melee/unarmed weapons.
The Chosen Chad I can see that I always liked the game beating my ass as I enjoy challenges. I know most people would rather have fun I’m just an odd one out.
I love your series. I love the dedication you showed to each aspect. The studio wanted to make a new benchmark for immersive entertainment. If fully realized, New Vegas would have been THE game. Just IT. No competition.
They are growing corn and have alcohol stills. I don't think it's that difficult to speculate it was a camp full of moonshiners, dude. Now what if any quests and story elements Obsidian planned for a camp of moonshiners is a little bit harder, but given it's a camp full of moonshiners I can bet you it would be to do with supply alcohol to someone, or else destroying their stills and ruining their livelihoods, ala Klamath in Fallout II
The big gun perk changes would of actually made the game better in my opinion, would of made for some interesting early play styles and fallout esk weapons! Great video as always mate keep it up!
I heard it's a very good mod and the author is supposedly extremely smart and handsome too. Seriously though, thanks for the shoutout and keep it up with the high quality vids, you're doing, in Joshua Graham's words, the Lord's work!
I've made a mod which adds a bunch of new challenges. I was actually considering making one that requires one to find and use every mod in the game (as well as another challenge to acquire every weapon in the game, period). It's interesting to know that such a challenge was originally planned. Obviously the reason they wanted to put in a challenge like that was to inspire players to actually investigate the content they had poured blood, sweat and tears into implementing, since it's obvious that almost nobody would actually buy most of those weapons or mods in any given playthrough. It's also probable that that very fact is the reason they decided not to implement the challenge after all: They must have realized at some point that some players would view every single challenge as things they need to complete if they want to get the most out of the game, and would end up resenting a high-tier challenge like collecting every mod. Similarly, they'd resent challenges that demand arbitrary murder, which I think explains the removal of the Caravan kill challenges.
Fallout New Vegas is my favorite game of all time and the best game I've ever played. I've been gaming for about 15 years now. I love this game since the first day I played it I own the collector's edition of it with the prequel comic and everything. I know a lot about its development. But this series is still a good watch for me. I only wish that obsidian had at least four years to make this game instead of only 18. Cuz the game could have been a thousand times better than it already is.
I played New Vegas on a jail broken hand me down 360. I distinctly remember the Pew Pew laser pistol having 50 energy cell capacity and each shot consuming 25 energy cells, not 5 energy cells per shot. It also wasn't a two round burst weapon, instead it was semi automatic. Lastly, I've done some tests to see if it would fire and deal the same amount of damage if I only held 1 energy cell. It did. No idea if the whole "if 1 energy cell in weapon, then pull additional 49 energy cells from inventory" worked since it didn't come to my mind at the time.
Sawyer's point about the Unarmed and Melee skills makes a lot of sense. In my opinion, those two skills are way too similar to warrant being separate categories. They should have been combined, like how the Big Guns skill was combined into the Guns and Explosives skills.
Speaking of miniguns. Near all those radiation pools there's a super mutant master, He's hard to kill but he drops a minigun. Alternatively, you could lure him Into Niptonm. He'll kill all the legionaries but hey. Even more loot. :)
