Thank you for validation, I always remembered these details and others from past videos as I played the original version and just thought I'd mis remembered things like the walk to the legion camp being longer or the scaffolding
holy shit I remember those walkways on the side of the dam from when I first played - never noticed they were gone. got stuck in there with loads of legionaries in the final battle lol

I particularly found the parts about the Arizona spillway as well as anything touching on the eastern part of map very interesting. I’ve often wondered what the spillway was and if it had purpose. Absolutely loved this video
I think what I'd have liked to see would be if the player did in fact fight their way along the bottom of the dam, while sound emitters that emit shooting, shouting and screaming, explosion effects and the occassional ragdoll flung off the top would give the impression of a big battle that goes on above as the player fights NCR Rangers and/or Legion centurions & Praetorians that are trying to flank around and bomb the other side's access route. It's a much more efficient way to imply a battle is going on without showing it, while at the same time not necessarily feeling like you're on the sideline.
15:20 "...but if Caesar was cured, they gain a slight combat buff." *procedes to show Creation Kit code which does nothing, and has one comment: "NEED TO ADD BONUSES."*
It's one thing to see things abandoned before leaving the planning phase, that's fine, honestly the map was big enough as is. But seeing all these nice little details being REMOVED later? That's painful.
It's likely that even more was removed prior to release in performance passes. Sadly we'll probably never know what they had to remove for consoles during that time, short a very early build dropping.
22:36 I'm surprised there's zero mention of cut content inside of Hoover Dam. In my playthrough I explored it and found some weird aah NPC, claimed to be a boss engineer of sorts who makes aure everything works, but he complains about repairs and I wonder if he meant to give you a quest? I remember his dialogue options being empty, empty as in we meant to ask something more
Watching these always blows my mind. I had a unpatch version of new vegas I played on the Xbox 360. I had no internet so whatever was on the disk is what I played. I remember screwing around for hours getting out of the map and exploring those water streams.
Apologies if you've done this before, but it would be cool if you did a video about the area around Novac, CottonWood Cove, and Searchlight airport. It feels like some areas there, like the hills between CottonWood Cove and Techatticup Mine, were meant to have more content there. Also HELIOS One has Legion soldiers that occupy the building after the NCR is killed, but only two of them, suggesting more content might have been planned maybe. Also as well near Novac, between ranger station Charlie and Legion raid camp, there's a trigger that plays a door opening sound fx which was probably meant to be cut out.
What about the intake towers and Mike Lawson? He mentions the dam isnt running a full capacity because some of the intakes are blocked but never tells you to check them or fix it so I figured it was a cut quest
21:22 Is it really never visible during gameplay? I remember taking his helmet when I beat the game the first time, I remember seeing a muttonstache or something similar. Maybe that was just a weird glitch? Or an error in the video?
I have to say I appreciate this series and your channel because I currently play Fallout New Vegas on my Ps3 and knowing so much content was gone and to see what would have been I love knowing the hidden things and unknown quirks about Fallout New Vegas.
14:05 , that's not from The Pitt, it's from Operation: Anchorage. You ride it down to the outlying Brotherhood base, where you find the VR gear to liberate Anchorage, and the incorrectly-specified power armour. Instead of the one you were meant to get, you get the VR-version, which is undamageable! Makes playing a somewhat-fun DLC fairly early in the game worth bothering. You're then powered-up for the rest of the game, training included.
The final battle at Hoover Dam always felt like a massive anticlimax for me. I realise it was due to time and engine limitations but it felt dissappointing to go to this final battle that the whole game had been building up to, and find about 30 people involved in the whole thing.
FONV is one of the few games I believe would be very cool to see remastered or remade, with restored cut content, or some of the original visions of the game, considering now a decade later, consoles and PCs have much more power on tap and some areas could see their full potential realized.
Wow, Hoover dam fight sounds like it must’ve been a massive headache to get done. All sorts of triggers and flags. They did what they could. 🎩 🐍 no step on SNEK! 🇺🇸🇭🇰
This is probably the biggest example (aside from Freeside/The Strip) of how having to make the game playable on consoles forced them to scale things back and cut things post-launch. Thank God for mods so that PC players can experience the game more or less as it was intended.
if you run out of cut content from this game (unlikely) will you showcase mods like the arizona mod? also if you look through the files of big mod projects like new california and the frontier you can find some stuff that wasnt used e.g i looked through a 2017 version of the frontier and found alchestbreach and beta versions of the cars
I don't know if there are engine limitations that would get in the way of this, but with modern computers, I think a lot of these optimizations and item removal from the patches could be undone.
@@reapthewhirlwind6915 The engine limitations I was referring to are things like 32-bit programs not being able to detect or use more than 4 gigs of RAM. I don't remember when 64-bit computers or multicore processors became more common in relation to when NV came out.
Probably the main reason also why Arizona Spillway was cut is due to the realism: The Real Spillway is only a singular, overflow pipe that is only used if Lake Mead overflows, and hasn't been used IRL since 1983: And is also a 1000ft Deep, only slightly sloped drop into the base of the other side of the Black Canyons of Colorado.

I remember his dialogue options being empty, empty as in we meant to ask something more
:Shoots lasser pistol to the eyes:
This is so relaxing to listen to on shuffle - Dude you have a voice that's smooth like butter
Watching these always blows my mind. I had a unpatch version of new vegas I played on the Xbox 360. I had no internet so whatever was on the disk is what I played. I remember screwing around for hours getting out of the map and exploring those water streams.
Surprised you didnt talk about the unique anti material rifle held by one of Oliver's guards if you fight him
Thank you for doing this, it was an awesome video as usual.
I always love to see more of your amazing content on the flawed masterpiece that is new vegas
There's a mod now the puts the jets back and makes them visible from a distance.'Hoover Dam Jets Restored and Distant' ;)
I saw it! I'm so happy someone got it working properly after 10 years :)
I’m in agreement about novac, it’s my favourite settlement!
Man I thought the flags and the scaffold were mandella affect! Thank you for proving me not crazy
What are your plans after finishing covering New Vegas?
For me honestly the graphics and engine are part of the charm
What about the intake towers and Mike Lawson? He mentions the dam isnt running a full capacity because some of the intakes are blocked but never tells you to check them or fix it so I figured it was a cut quest
21:22
Is it really never visible during gameplay? I remember taking his helmet when I beat the game the first time, I remember seeing a muttonstache or something similar.
Maybe that was just a weird glitch? Or an error in the video?
Unless by “normal play” he means “while Lanius is alive” maybe
rip desert ranger 3.5
I always end up watching your videos twice when they come out. Great stuff as always.
You're then powered-up for the rest of the game, training included.
always happy to see a video from trianglecity!
This game deserves to be talked about twenty more years from now.
Holy shit Lanius hit the Courier so hard he became the Hunchback of Notra Dame
The final battle at Hoover Dam always felt like a massive anticlimax for me. I realise it was due to time and engine limitations but it felt dissappointing to go to this final battle that the whole game had been building up to, and find about 30 people involved in the whole thing.
Learning more and more of what FNV /could/ have been, and even the impact it made, makes me respect Obsidian even more, and detest Bethesda even more.
Isn't that cut elevator from operation Anchorage, not the pitt? I think it's from the outcast outpost unless I'm misremembering
Cheers on helping keep New Vegas alive brother this game deserves it
Great video!
These videos make me want modders to bring back a lot more of the cut content.
Man, just imagine the absoslute masterpiece this game would've been if they made it on current gen stuff with more time
FONV is one of the few games I believe would be very cool to see remastered or remade, with restored cut content, or some of the original visions of the game, considering now a decade later, consoles and PCs have much more power on tap and some areas could see their full potential realized.
Thousands of hours and theres always something new to find
Every trianglecity upload should be a worldwide holiday... we love you... please keep this up
"Cannibal Johnson carries the body of Moreno into battle out of spite"
Wow, Hoover dam fight sounds like it must’ve been a massive headache to get done. All sorts of triggers and flags.
They did what they could.

🐍 no step on SNEK! 🇺🇸🇭🇰
65,000 lines of dialogue. That's absolutely insane.
nice video fam! whats the music called at 11:40 ?
It’s insane how damn limited the engine was, the multiple hacky stuff they had to do to get simple stuff like an ncr radio working
Thank you for the amazing content
holy shit, Perfect Dark background music
Wonder how long till we get a mod that brings back everything that was cut from the game. Without making it dropping frames.
Great video as always
This is probably the biggest example (aside from Freeside/The Strip) of how having to make the game playable on consoles forced them to scale things back and cut things post-launch. Thank God for mods so that PC players can experience the game more or less as it was intended.
There’s some real nice cut content mods for us. A massive legion expansion one just came out and it’s a beaut.
if you run out of cut content from this game (unlikely) will you showcase mods like the arizona mod? also if you look through the files of big mod projects like new california and the frontier you can find some stuff that wasnt used e.g i looked through a 2017 version of the frontier and found alchestbreach and beta versions of the cars
i hope he doesnt
Had no idea I wasn't subscribed until just now, even after binging your videos
i can remember a few of these things from my release copy of fnv back in the day, and i was ALWAYS curious if Lanius had a face or not!
An absolutely amazing video as always
I don't know if there are engine limitations that would get in the way of this, but with modern computers, I think a lot of these optimizations and item removal from the patches could be undone.
new vegas uncut restores, among other mods, the objects and npcs deleted for console performance.
What's the music playing @4:55 ?
21:22 Ey yo wait. The Legate was Alchestbreach all along!?
14:32 its a staircase because President Kimball goes thru there, and it wouldn't make much sense if a president uses ladders.
