Love the detail of Mountain Song by Jane’s Addiction being very quiet in your intro. Love that album, Nothing’s Shocking. Coincidentally I just finished listening to that record before watching, weird. Anyways, I have only been to Tetons once. Probably my favorite National Park I’ve visited, either that or Glacier. My dad and I hiked Amphitheater Lake while we were there which was in 2017. I really wanted to hike Lake of The Crags, partly because of how remote it seemed in comparison to the other surrounding lakes. But man, what a beautiful spot! Pristine untouched nature, wonderful video man.
Thanks Nick! I appreciate your feedback. I love it when Jane’s fans pick that little nugget out in the intro 😁! I actually went back a couple years after that video and climbed The Jaw with my son in that same canyon, you may dig that video 👍🏼! Also, there are multiple Glacier and other Teton videos up on the channel as well. Thanks for reaching out, Cheers!!!
Cool Mike! I was just up there a few days ago on the 18th as well. We kept going up to Mount St John up a couloir to the right of the lake. Unreal scenery up there 🤩 I agree it is tough! If you can handle that one try Garnet Canyon Trail to the saddle of the Middle and South Teton, just as good if not better. I made it up to the Middle Teton that day and finally checked it off the list 🤩! Cheers!
I enjoy watching your videos! I have been to Grand Teton National Park twice, once in the summer time and once in mid April when everything was covered in snow. I have done the hike to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point and I wish I would have watched your video of the Cascade Canyon Hike prior to my trip because I didn’t realize that there wasn’t much elevation gain after Inspiration point. I look forward to someday making a return trip to make several hikes. I use the National Park Service app for hiking trail info. Do you recommend any other apps that have more information on the trails and lakes in Grand Teton or trails that aren’t listed on the National Park Service app? Thanks, and keep up the great videos.
I’m glad you’re watching Dave! Definitely get the AllTrails app. I’m pretty sure it has much more than the NPS app has. If you search my name you’ll be able to see all/most of the hikes that we’ve covered there. You can follow my affiliate link with AllTrails in the description of any video for 30% off AllTrails+. It’s my go to app while tracking my routes/adventures along with FATMAP. Definitely contact me when you’re planning on heading out there should you have any other questions! Be sure to check out the most recent Teton vids as well for more trail ideas👍🏼😁
Tough trail. That is the only trail in the Tetons that I slipped and fell on. LOL, I just noticed I commented on this hike three years ago. That is what happens when you get to be 80 I guess.
Did this hike a few weeks ago and at 6:50 I knew exactly what part of the trail the music change was at! Not much of a trail there- we took vastly different routes on the way up and the way down haha. The lack of crowds and awesome alpine lakes made this hike a gem
Alec Hill that’s hilarious 😂... I love the feedback. I’m glad you made it up there! That trail is a beast! I’ve got multiple vids to edit from this summer’s adventures (Idaho, Montana, Utah, S Dakota, Wyoming). Plenty more gems 💎 😁! Feel free to subscribe if you’re not already 👍🏼.
@@TheMountainMatt We are heading that way this June. Havent been there in 30 years but cant wait. Hope to do the Cascade to Solitude trail with the kiddos and a few others. My wife and I are now 48 so not sure we can do the real high country trails. Would love to do paintbrush to Cascade... Thanks for the inspirations.
Edge Body Boot Camp Thanks! All current uploads (+1) to come, are shot on GoPro 6/7. The 6 on a gimbal and the 7 on a vlogging setup, a 360 camera here and there for fun. 360 might be a little gimmicky but it’s fun to edit with. A few months ago the boss let me get a GH5 with two sick lenses! I have an arsenal of footage from this summer to edit as soon as I’m done with hiking season😁. I’ll miss the look that the gimbal gave but the GH5 coupled with great lenses should even it out😬🤞🏼. Can’t wait to start editing some of the hikes we did! Heading to Utah in a week to summit a couple big dogs before it’s to late😉. Trees are already turning a little here in MN😫.
Minnesota Mountain Matt nice!!! My wife and I are going to Yellowstone and Tetons next month and I’m bringing along a GoPro. No 360 cam but hopefully it’ll be good enough to make the family jealous 🤣 good luck on your next trip to Utah! I’m in Kentucky and it’s still hot but I know fall is coming soon!
Edge Body Boot Camp if you’re driving there try to come or leave Yellowstone through the Beartooth Pass (Red Lodge Montana) you won’t be disappointed! We hiked the Beartooth Mtns back in June, amazing!
Roadtrippin' with Takacs your family would love it there😁👍🏼... if mine can do it yours could😉 that hike is not on the park hikes list. Unknown hike ... for now
Great hike! Such a pretty trail and lake! I like that your family hikes together 😊 New friend and sub from Washington- 🥾🥾 Hope you get to see a bear next time🐻
Jennifer Lupine Thanks Jennifer! I’m glad you enjoy the vids! The Tetons are amazing, make sure you get there some day😁. There are so many amazing hikes! I’ve got a few more from the area uploading soon😉😁
@@TheMountainMatt Looking forward to your new videos! We hiked at the Tetons about 5-6 years ago - loved it! We did the Cascade Canyon one day then Paintbrush Canyon the next! If you want to see a black bear- I have one in our video named, Hike to Thornton Lakes, North Cascades, from about 5 months ago! That was a fun surprise- it tends to happened when you least expect it!!
Hi Matt - Headed back to GT this summer. We plan to take on either Crags or Delta. Which is more strenuous, challenging, exposed? Which did you prefer? Pros/cons? The other couple we are going with will only do one or the other. Thanks and I really liked your videos.
Crags is shorter and steeper but it’s nice because there are MUCH less people. Both are strenuous without any exposure. Delta Lake will blow your mind in person. Although Crags is incredible as well. My son and I did it again last September. We went past it and up to “The Jaw”, I personally love that Hanging Canyon. It has a crazy remote feeling. Delta is a zoo but something not to be missed. If you like adventure and solitude, Crags is it. I’ll have 6 more Teton vids starting April, so check back monthly for other hikes you might want to do while you’re out there or when you go back. Sounds like you like a challenge so be sure to watch my GT Disappointment Peak video when I release it in April, you may choose that instead of the lakes. I’d love to know what you decide to hike and how it goes😁. You can’t go wrong with either hike that’s for sure👍🏼 hit me up if you have any other questions!
We do all our hikes from May thru September. Then I edit during our MN frozen months. Keeps me going thru the winter😁. That hike was the first week of August 2019. One of my favorites for sure!
@@jonschmidt1709 the peaks to the south of the lake really kept the sun from hitting that huge patch of snow. Definitely do that hike if you get out there 👍🏻
This is so amazing Matt.. I want to go here for sure. I have a question about what settings you use for your GoPro? I have the new 9 and something doesn't seem right. My iPhone 11 pro video's seem better. Any pointers?
Do you shoot full manual with the GoPro? I upgraded to a GH5 a few months ago but I’d love to help😁. To take advantage of the GoPro’s it’s best to shoot full manual, otherwise you’ll get color shifts/ white balance issues. Let me know your settings and I’ll try to give ya some advice.👍🏼
@@TheMountainMatt I have a book I am reading and trying to make some of my own presets for different conditions so when shooting its easier for me to just hit a button. I was using their preset as it came in the box. I am trying to learn all the manual settings now. Must of it makes sense to me since I am a photographer. Was just seeing if you had any thing that worked for you.. Thanks!

This trail WAS maintained by the park service, but like so many other things ruined by the park service, it is no longer maintained. The Park Service is too busy spending money on buildings for Park Service employees. That said, GTNP is run better than many other NPs are.
Wrong!! The NPS has been struggling for years with reduced budgets, along with the USFS. Both of these agencies have had to reduce or eliminate maintenance altogether on underused trails and facilities so that they can focus limited resources on those things that are more heavily used. As for spending money on buildings, the NPS currently has a $12 Billion backlog of much needed repair work. Instead of criticizing some of the most dedicated people I've ever seen who are committed to preserving our outdoor national heritage, I would encourage anyone to spend some time volunteering to help out with trail maintenance and other support activities.
