- On a beautiful June day I hiked the Middle Teton & South Teton from the Lupine Meadows Trailhead. This hike is about 13 miles RT with 6,800 ft of elevation gain. This was one of the most memorable hikes I have completed in a long time and very proud of the accomplishment.

Awesome! I did the South Teton 2 summers ago! I did it in the snow the first time and then again at the end of the season when it was melted mostly. I honestly liked the snow so much more!
Super sweet, man! I hiked above the Meadows mid August 22’. Beautiful hike. Nice to know both Mountains are accessible without doing anything above a class 3 scramble. I look forward to trying this out some day.
Yeah, they both are really a classic case of looking way more gnarly than they actually are.

I was in the area trying to climb up some way on Teewinot. I did not carry a bear spray, and was shit scared the entire hike. :D I have encountered a black bear on a hike before, and I was definitely not looking forward to seeing a Grizzly. Better to carry bear spray with you - if for nothing else, than for peace of mind.
Also, when hiking alone, play music or something, and shout 'hey bear' once every few mins.
Really enjoyed this one! The camera work was great and really showed off the beauty of that area! I’ve never been to that area but boy do I want to now. Keep up the great work! Can’t wait for the next one

Great looking hike with spectacular views, always thought the Tetons were more difficult class 4 type climbing, you seemed to do the whole thing with trekking poles in your hand may be within my capabilities. Thanks for the great video.
mickey brumfield the Grand is class 5 but the other two are 2, 3 at the highest if you pick your lines right 👍🏽

May have to try it someday just need to be bear aware in that area believe it is grizzly country unlike Colorado where they have more docile black bears.

Great video, my brother and I were near the meadows yesterday in garnet canyon. Couldn’t push further yesterday (got stopped by bears on the trail for a little bit and we had a late start due to weather in the morning). We might try again this week if weather permits! We want to hit at least one. There are snow fields but if they stay solid it could be beneficial
Agree - think the snow makes both summits (relatively) easier and less dangerous with smaller chance of rockfall to worry about.

Fantastic views! I’ve only seen this place looking up from Schwabachers Landing; hoping to return for these iconic hikes. Some national parks do allow dogs. An example would be Kennesaw NP in Georgia, albeit they must be on a leash. Yellowstone also with limited travel from the car.

i know of 3 people who encountered a bear from the lupine access. its no joke up there…
So, thinking about making the trip in June of 2024. With a guide that offers 6 months of training and then the onsite guide to the summit. Thank you for your commentary. One question I had was you mention Bear spray. Why not a handgun? I am thinking Spray is just going to tick the bear off.
When you do such early morning hikes like this do you sleep in your car or hotel near by? I've always struggled to get up and running so early
Oh man, getting up early is almost always awful but worth it in retrospect. The hours of hiking in grizzly country in the dark are not hours I will miss though haha. Totally depends, usually it’s camping or hotel nearby though. Car sleeping is last resort for me.
@@TheVirtualSherpa Bro hiking in the dark even in Colorado is not exactly great when there is bear or cat shit everywhere. Hell no to Grizzly country in the dark without a large gun lol. Maybe in Winter I guess when they are in the cave, but not a chance in Summer around brown bears for me. Nice video though.

I think any guided hike in Colorado is a waste of money and time unless you are doing something super technical or perhaps in the winter with skiing/snowboarding involved.

Would you say it is absolutely necessary to bring an ice axe in June/July? I'm going this summer and I have one, just hoping I could get away without it to lessen the load.
Think it depends on your experience but this was filmed in early July and I am glad I had one on the way down.

You do not. I’m sure you could stop in on the way out, but the stations are all closed while driving in.
Have you ever done Gannett peak in the wind rivers? I would love a guide on that one.
Would love to get up there one day but haven’t done it yet.
This reminds me of that day I took my pet leopard up the Tetons and we were puzzled as to why we were getting so many strange looks from the people we encountered. Somehow we had strayed into one of those National Parks where eating other hikers is frowned upon.

If I did this climb later in the year than June would I still need crampons?
This was in July - but to answer your question it totally depends on your experience on snow and the amount of snow they had the winter before. August/September probably not June/July - probably
