"But I turned around because I was afraid" - SO appreciate this honesty and transparency. It's always okay to say no/go back if you're not fully comfortable with the situation. Epic video, as always 👏
Welcome back Blake! We passed by you on our way up the approach as you were descending but didn’t realize it was the amateurs until it was too late. But we briefly talked with you talking about pooping, so I’ll cherish that moment forever
The blizzzzzzzz! My favorite mediocre. Can’t wait to hear more stories about Blake’s mom and watch him jump in ice lakes. Also for the record, my two favorite mediocre moments are Blake whining and Danny puking. Keep it up. Love watching you guys. I’ve been wondering why Blake was gone for so long. I figured it was because he couldn’t stand Matt’s and Christoff’s moustaches😂😂😂. PS-Aaron has always been a rockstar. Thanks to all of you for keeping me motivated to do outdoor adventures.
This peak really unpredictable! Went up the Upper Exum in near perfect weather conditions in early August, but smoke seeded a hail/snow thunderstorm which came in around 9:45am while we were 3 pitches up. No way to bail till like pitch 5 or something, and had no idea where the exit chute was to the OS (plus it was basically white out conditions). Got contact electrocuted through the rock by lighting and still have permanent nerve damage on of my toes from frostbite. I have a picture of me standing at the exact spot at 7:13 shivering to death with just as much, if not more snow on the ground in straight up climbing shoes after finally making it to the summit and finding the firehose to rap down the OS. We legitimately almost died...this peak is one to respected, that's for sure!
holy crap Mr. Cactus, that's horrible. I hope your toe eventually comes around. Glad you didn't get any permanent nerve damage or twitches from the lightning, I've heard horror stories about people losing digits from strikes that exit the fingertips even after they ditched the metal gear (but forgot to take a watch off). Horrible stories. Brave soul you are.
If I heard someone say "not in 'mediocre' shape" anywhere else, I'd think "less than optimal." Here though, I knew exactly what you meant. You guys are next level! Hope to see you on a summit, someday!
Blake Josephson. What a guy. I thought he might never show his face on MA again. How thoughtful of you Danny, to include him once again. Great adventure and beautiful camera work - as always.
It's great to have the band back together. Oh Blizz, how we've missed you. Danny said that Blake wasn't in mediocre shape. My question is what's the level below mediocre? Sub-par shape perhaps? Even at sub-par you still crushed it Blake!
It was great to see Blake again. Glad his knee held up; because of him I did stop spending the weekends on the couch watching football games and even took up trail running a couple years back.
Anyone who complains about someone complaining in the mountains on a big day is a hypocrite and has not had a real big (painful) day in the mountains when you know the only way back is through a lot more pain. Good to see him back
Blake! I'm a little disappointed that there was no Little Debbie's cherry pie on the summit, but beyond that it's great to see another Danny, Blake, and Aaron video.
I love Blake’s complaining and honestly missed it. The honesty and realness is extremely appreciated. Please complain more Blake!! Hope you’re back soon!
Glad to see you back Blake and Aaron! They make mediocre amateur so much more relatable to me - friendship and roughing it out in the wilderness! Finding amazing adventure by simply driving to a trailhead and sleeping in the truck. Even Blake "whining" is missed - we've all been there - complaining but really deep down loving every moment of it!
It's nice to see you Blake!!! I appreciate your honesty Aaron. I have turned around on hikes that have been a lot less scary than this one. I am so happy that you made it to the top. 😊 Thanks for getting the old team back together Danny! The filming is just as good as ever.👍
Glad to have Blake back! Sorry you guys had so much smoke. I climbed the middle on august 11th, wasn’t crowded and had an absolutely unbelievable weather day. No smoke, barely any wind, sunny. I enjoyed it so much. Thanks for the inspiration. This channel is why I did the climb
Frankly, I find what some refer to as Blake's "complaining," a rather endearing personal trait. It's as if Blake is George Costanza to Danny's Jerry Seinfled. (So, then, does Matt identify with Elaine and Christof as Kramer?). Let's give Blake credit for being honest and not afraid to be himself on TH-cam. Y'all be safe out there...
The 3 amigos! Welcome back Blake, you were missed fellow! I still remember when Aaron got introduced as "this guy that Blake knows" ;-) [and don't worry, Danny's been doing well filling in as the resident curmudgeon]
The bands back together! Very excited to have Blake back in the videos and can't wait to see some more new ones with him in it. Super awesome adventure and great video.
This production quality is *so good* it feels like I'm watching a movie worthy of the big screen and everybody talks to the camera like they're talking to the homies ❤
So glad to have Blake back! I've been out of the mountains for a year with a hip injury and it's been stressing me out. It makes me feel better seeing a guy come back after 3 years. It's good to see you back out there dude!
“If you’re stupid enough, you can have places to yourself” great motto- one I try and live by.. . The furtherest I got on the Grand, was at 6:45 in your vid, the upper saddle. (‘08) Wasn’t my day to top out. Massive respect. 👊🏻
Way to keep it safe! My first time up was a few days after a group had been struck by lightning, launching people and leaving climbers dangling by their ropes off cliffs. Big rescue effort ensued. We could see the aftermath when we got up. On our way down a storm came in quickly as we started the rap and our biners we're humming on our harnesses. Scary! But soooo worth it! I'm planning a trip with my oldest son for this next year as it turns out I summitted the first time on the day he was to be born 3 yrs later.
This reminded me of my summit day when my partner decided to turn around and leave me at the start of the belly. Lucky for me we met a group of dads and their sons from Utah with whom we chatted and joined them to the summit. To them wherever they are, that summit me at the world to me, after waiting for it for long time. One day I’ll return to try it again.
So pumped to have Blake back!! Definitely raises the level of mediocrity. Geez I'm even going to buy another t-shirt I'm so excited. Keep up the great content guys!!
The quality of the videos is surpassed only by your great, great lines. You crack me up every time! Did this a few years back in virtually identical conditions. A bit of snow, ice in the chimney, first to the summit that day, smoke/fog lifting just enough to get a view. Except I did it with a guide, took 2 days, set pro in the sketchy spots. Oh -- and brought harness and rope :) Still, an epic memory!
"10s of fans have been asking" haha we missed you, Blake!
Lol- I was going to say the same thing! Great to see you back on the trail, Blake!
There are dozens of us... DOZENS!

Blake arriving at the summit "that's disappointing". LOL
Your glass is half empty attitude has been missed.
Actually it's your fogged up glasses that is missed. We love your attitude. 🙏👍☮️😂💖
So good to have Blake back ... everybody should have a Blake in their adventures! LOL
Blake on trail: "I'm not going to complain, ever again"
Blake at the Summit: "That's Disappointing"

but if he does danny gets all the new gear!!!
Great to see Blake back and a big thanks to Zack for making a safe Mediocre adventure.

Yep. Danny never whines, just pukes and Blake never pukes, just whines! 😂
😹😹
It's a vintage mediocre amateur episode! Welcome back Blake
Zach & Anna need to make an encore appearance, maybe on some gnarly peak in ID.
Blake the legend, welcome back. We all love your whining. I am surprised you did not complain about sleep and food.
“10’s of fans have asked” 😂😂😂 welcome back Blake!!
Did not expect to wake up to a classic MA video with Blake! Welcome back man!
Always exceeding our low expectations, Blake returns.
I love this channel so much! And thanks to Zach and Anna for keeping our Mediocre Heroes alive to hike, climb, and ski again another day.

Thanks for living to share story,it's so relatable about those random weather events in mountains 🏔️🦫🥶

How lucky is Zach? Not only made it to a MA video but also helped them getting down safely. Memorable trip for sure
Rather, how lucky for amateurs ability to now able to summit
Blake Josephson. What a guy. I thought he might never show his face on MA again. How thoughtful of you Danny, to include him once again. Great adventure and beautiful camera work - as always.
Awesome to see Blake's back. He was missed...the lovable curmudgeon.
Welcome back Blake! We missed you!
Finally I have been asking you to bring back Blake for 2 years.. Great to see him back in action with two good knees. ✌️👍
Blakes mom let him out!!! Bet Matt is jealous of that stache.
I've never seen better matching attire by grown men in ski gear. Looking good boys
Comment, all the way from Sweden.

You'd think that running out would count for something....
Positivity is overrated... glad you are back Blake!! We missed you!
Blake and Christof can never be in the same vlog. Matter and antimatter would collide and the universe would cease to exist.
I've been smiling non-stop. Feels like the good old days. Good to see you back!

The Lord provideth. Zack and Anna with the ropeth. Amazing views.
Blake! Great to see you man. We've been missing your honesty and sense of humour.
Delighted to see Blake back in the saddle! Hope he stays healthy and is able to make it on more of the adventures!

I love Blake's complaining. It is the realest part of this channel.
Overjoyed at seeing Blake 2.0 - now with moustache!
The second half of Mediocre Amateur has really been at a low point without Blake, good to have you back buddy!
Good job guys! thanks Zac! Allez Blake!
Self deprecating commentary is 11/10. Loved this watch.
Yay Blake! So glad to see you again! We missed you! I'm glad you're doing better now.

OMG BLAKE....... welcome back Blake.
Another awesome episode.
It's a Blake sighting! Automatic like and stoked to see the return. Love it!
And so glad he got the knee fixed because those suck the fun out of life. Glad to see a return of the Blake (and Aaron and Danny, too!)
I love this channel! Thank you!
Seeing all the snow & ice on those rocks must have made it extra SPICEY FOR SURE!
Blake..missed ya. You guys keep giving us inspiration to do more...thanks a mint
Always a pleasure viewing your great videos
Thank you guys for sharing this video - this was inspiration for my own trip up the grand yesterday!!
Blake! So great to see you again. Please complain, it's endearing.
Blake!!!! Ahhhhhh I’ve missed this guy! Great to see him!
Welcome back Blake!!! I love this channel! Next time you plan a Teton trip, reach out to me! You were cooling off in the creek near my cabin…
As a fellow grumpy old man with knee problems happy to see the return of Blake
We really missed you Blake. Awesome job crushing the Grand!! Much respect to Zach and Anna. 👍.
I smiled so wide seeing Blake back! I'm gonna use the line "I'm so high on friendship" sometime soon!
slippery with that black ice & snow, surprised you attempted that, super slick but your confidence outweighed the treacherous conditions.
More Blake! I missed you so much!
Nice surprise, didn't think I was going to see Blake in a video again!
So glad to have Blake back! I've been out of the mountains for a year with a hip injury and it's been stressing me out. It makes me feel better seeing a guy come back after 3 years. It's good to see you back out there dude!
