    Hi Melissa, I watched a few of your videos which showed what sequence you should use the products in the morning and how that differs at nighttime. However, I was hoping you could recommend how to use face oil in terms of face massage? I do facial massage once or twice a day and in each face massage video they recommend using a face oil, but I don't know if it'd be good to use this as a last or first step. My routines are currently as follows:
    Morning:
    1. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser
    2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturiser
    3. Soltan Hydrating Sensitive Protect Facial Suncare Cream With Niacinamide SPF50+
    Evening:
    1. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser
    2. Boots Ingredients Lactic Acid Serum
    3. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sleeping Cream
    Would you recommend perhaps using a balm or oil cleanser before the Neutrogena cleanser and do face massage only in the evening. Or would you recommend any specific face oil that could slot well into both routines?
    Also, if you think the lactic acid I use is incompatible with any of the other products, please let me know. My face has been reacting to this routine well so far, but I’ve only done it for about 2 weeks.
    Also, as whilst I am doing massage I am applying pressure and rubbing the skin repetitively, is it good to do this after applying lactic acid? I've heard that it's not great to rub skin when/just after applying exfoliants.
    I hope you would be able to help!

      Hey! :)
      Well, I'm not a facial massage person (I can't stand touching my face for that long nor getting touched by someone else - but I love giving someone else a massage🤪). I also haven't had much luck with oils, the ones that I've tried triggered more acne - keep in mind I also have acne prone skin.
      Nevertheless, I would recommend using a hydrating toner/essence or serum instead of a facial oil. Apply it after cleansing and before your moisturizer/sunscreen or use a lightweight moisturizer as the last step in the evening. This adds enough slip for the massage and gets absorbed into the skin after a while, preventing pore-clogging and feeling heavy on the skin.
      Overall, your skincare routine appears to be excellent. Keep it up if it works for you! :)

      @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you for the help! I used to have combination skin but in the last couple of years (I'm 29 now) my skin has become drier, hence my introduction to proper skincare routine which I didn't have before. As my skin is quite dry, would you still recommend using the hydrating toner/serum, or would an oil be beneficial in my case as an occlusive after the hyaluronic acid gel?
      Also, I've heard conflicting information about whether you should use niacinamide with lactic acid or not. What is your experience on this? My SPF contains niacinamide but I only use that in the morning, and the lactic acid is applied in the evening (only 2-3 times a week). Thanks again!

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DesislavaSekulova If your current skincare routine is effective for you, there is no need to add any additional products, such as oils. Your Hydro Boost moisturizer already contains Dimethicone which helps to lock in moisture. You can use the moisturizer to massage your face. Regarding your question about using Niacinamide and Lactic Acid together, there is no issue in your case. However, if you are using a potent Niacinamide and Lactic Acid treatment, it's possible that the high concentration of Niacinamide may exfoliate the skin. But more research is needed to validate this claim.

    Hi, I would like to ask you, I have dry skin with acne, when I double cleanse I use cleansing balm and then cerave hydrating cleanser. Is it enough to wash off the balm? Maybe I should use cerave cream to foam cleanser, what do think? Thank you for responding❤️

      Generally, you do not need to follow with anything after, so lukewarm water should take it already off! Or you could use a washcloth to help process along.

    Hey Melissa. I really enjoyed your video on how to use the Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel Cream, but it's kind of an expensive option, so I don't know if I'll repurchase it. Have you ever done a how to apply on the Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture Sensitive Skin? Or, if not, would you ever think about doing one? I'm interested in trying that one as a replacement.

    Hi! Love your videos! I just recently got into skin care because i just recently have been getting acne.
    I do the same thing morning and night.
    Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser For Normal to Dry Skin
    Paula Choice 2% bha exfoliant
    the ordinary hyaluronic acid serum
    the ordinary azaleic acid
    Cerva moisturizer
    I started this routine around the very beginning of May and I noticed results but as of now I have a really bad breakout on the left side of my face and a small breakout on the right side of my face (on my cheek bone) I feel like it’s because i’m using the bha everyday but i’m not sure. I’m thinking of maybe stopping using the cerave cleaner and paula choice for the summer and replacing it with Panoxyl foaming wash so it could target my breakouts. Also my skin is dry skin! Thank you so much!!

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! :)
      Overall the routine looks good.
      You can use The Ordinary Azelaic Acid before or after your moisturizer.
      So, you are using Paula's Choice BHA in the morning and evening daily?
      If so, this may be a bit too much. If you like, you can keep using it but less often, like once per day every other day.
      Why don't you want to change the cleanser?

    • @nourfathalla2111
      @nourfathalla2111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you so much!! my sisters told me that panoxyl foaming wash is really good to use for breakouts so I was thinking if maybe in the morning to use that instead of the cerave and paula choice bha. only when I use paula choice I would use the cerave cleanser!
      So essentially mornings I would now do Panoxyl foaming wash then the serums moisturizer and sunscreen. For evenings I would do the same if I am not using Paula Choice BHA. I’m going to use paula choice every other night from now on nightly. When I use it I would use the Cerave cleanser instead of the Panoxyl foaming wash because I did some research and saw that it’s not good to use those 2 together.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this can work. However, if you think that you get breakouts because you've used the exfoliant too often. It's best to give your skin a break and just cleanse, hydrate and protect the skin and then once your skin has calmed down again, you could start the routine you've mentioned above (if you still experience breakouts).
      Also, if you get the Panoxyl Cleanser, get the 4% not 10%.

    Hello Mel.
    I was asked to incorporate Retinol and vit c in my routine but the problem is that there’s salicylic acid in my routine. It says it’s unsafe to use salicylic acid with vit c, it’s also unsafe to use salicylic acid with retinol.
    I’ve written down my routine and I can use a cleanser without salicylic acid in the morning with vit c and I can use the salicylic acid in the night but where do I place the retinol, I’m confused.
