If you want to use this type of technique while camping and don't want to bring all your bottles with you save space in your backpack. Is to presoak cotton rounds or use reusable pads in the products you're going to use and stick them in separate baggies for each type, very lightweight, works really well. I personally don't use a balm type product when traveling. So my routine includes a waterproof makeup remover (very similar to the two part type show), micellar water, toner, then moisturizer.

I thought water running down wrists was just my beef with washing my face at my sink but glad to hear from Michelle and people in the comments I am not alone! If I don't feel like it is an extra step, I'll just take my shirt off. Depends on how late it is and if I waited to the point of being exhausted to do my skincare [I actually try to avoid waiting so long to cleanse at night now and am attempting to wash off my suncreen around dinner time or a couple of hours before bed... better to cleanse earlier than be too tired to cleanse at all].

... and conversely I've wondered, if the oil cleanser is SO good at removing anything oil soluble, how is it gentler for the skin? Sure skin will feel less dry because it leaves a film of whatever oily esters or oil it's based on, but presumably it's removed most of your precious ceramides, then, right?
The logic of these things is always appealing but far from bulletproof 😂

I love these tips and product recommendations that work well without having to stand at the sink to wash my face! I have leukemia and washing my face at the sink is sometimes just not possible so I’ve been looking for products I can use to cleanse my dehydrated, sensitive skin without a sink. I’ve tried various wipes and completely agree with your comments about some wipes being too abrasive and damaging the skin. I’m currently using a Garner micellar water but just ordered the Bioderma one you mentioned. It’s still trial and error for me but I’m definitely happy that there are alternatives to standing at the sink twice a day. Thank you!!

I absolutely adored it as I really hate to tug at the skin so would douse a cleansing pad and hold over clients (or myself) face as the formula really did help melt and soften the skin for a gentle exfoliation prior to makeup applications, if I needed the skin to look good in a limited time! I'm in Australia.. at Daiso they sell terry head bands and I use them around my wrists push them up a little then lay a hand towel down on my basin and wear a Daiso headband or hair turban (almost everything is $2.80) this really stops water running down my arms as they are doubled over like big bulky sweatbands and trap it then I pop them on the radiator and wash every few days... Being so inexpensive I bought a lot ... no wet sleeves or floor 😃

I love the DHC deep cleansing oil when I'm camping. I'll wash my face with a pan full of water. What I like about the DHC oil is it comes off completely no matter the temperature of the water.

I didm't find micellar water very effective at removing wp mascara & even the Bioderma burned my eyes. Fragrance free cleansing balms work best for me. I don't really like washing my face at the bathroom sink either, it always makes a mess & I must wipe down the counter & sometimes the floor. To avoid wet sleeves & a wet shirt front I just don't wear a shirt when I wash my face/brush my teeth. I bring my spf down my neck onto my chest as well as my makeup so I need to wet those areas too, Sometimes I will even wash my arms at the sink to remove the sunscreen. I wish our bathroom sink was deeper/bigger :(

For wp mascara I take the cotton pad and leave it on my eyes for a few seconds so the micelles can get in there and then I wipe it off.

@@suzanamaher4713 muslin is a very lightweight, plain weave cotton fabric.
In the US it’s often used to mean the fabric people use for mock-ups for sewing garments, but in the UK and US, we call that calico. So we use the original meaning of muslin to mean a very lightweight cotton fabric. It’s very commonly used as wraps for babies, and was the most popular fabric for those floaty empire line dresses during the regency period. It’s also used in cooking, as a way to separate something solid (like pulp or whey) from liquid.

I use 2 towel fabric scrunchies on both arms to stop the water getting in the clothes.
But since I have to wash my neck, it doesn't matter, I just end up taking my shirt off.
I find washing my face at the sink such an annoyance, bothersome, pain in the butt task. I hate it!!
Thanks for giving me some alternatives. ❤️

Best way to stop getting your sleeves wet is using the terry cloth armbands that you would see on tennis players. They soak up the water and will keep your arms dry 😊

I use that Simple Micellar water to remove eye makeup, because it doesn't burn my eyes (I don't use anything waterproof). And I use the CeraVe Micellar water on my face because it doesn't give me those little pimples/whiteheads that I was getting from other ones. But also I switched to that one when I started using baby bamboo terry washcloths, so maybe it wasn't the CeraVe Micellar water but the washcloths? But I really think the CeraVe one is super hydrating.

That sounds a bit like my journey too - I only switched to cotton pads when I changed micellar waters, then I had to go back and retest!

I also stopped washing my face in the morning and it really isn't missed. And ugh i hate washing in the sink in winter too and I use a cloth to remove cleansers when I can't face the dripping or bending over the sink.

I was doubtful about the stuff at first, but I've really come to like and depend on micellar water in situations like that. It just gets sunscreen and make-up off so easily and really does not seem to irritate my skin at all. I go after it with a toner on a cotton pad usually (mostly, because I like to use a second, fresh pad anyway, to make sure, I really got everything.
I still use first oily babywipes and then a damp washcloth on my arms and legs though, because it's just the most cost effective method for larger areas.
Personally, I much prefer regular washing though, if I have access to a sink or shower. It's actually one of the aspects, that bother me most about camping. Not being able, to take a hot shower in the evening. That and the bugs 😆

You should try absorbent wrist bands. You just put them on your wrists before washing your face and then take them off and let them dry.

Hi, lab muffin. I use micellar water for both pre-cleanse and toner, and want to know if it is okay to use micellar water as toner? For reference, I'm using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Triple Micellar water.

Put scrunchies that hold your pony tail on your wrists. It keeps the water from running down your arms.

What's so funny is that I was using DHC's Deep Cleansing Oil for like 20 years and only that. No double cleanse. Just the oil cleanse. I loved how it didn't seem to strip my skin. Now everyone is all about the double cleanse, and especially, the oil cleanse.
