4:42 fun choice is not only the focal point, but: she looks at him and he is in the center, he looks at her and she is set a bit to the side... he sees her as his side fling, while for her he is the center of her interests. Frame choice communicates so much. 😃
This is one of her most cinematic music videos. It really tells a story like a movie which is interesting because it takes place on a movie set. This whole video definitely seems like a Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton filming Cleopatra reference (romance between them and lots of fighting). And the fact that she donated money for animals and conservation efforts is incredible.
i totally agree with the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton reference because she also says in Ready For It? "And he can be my jailer, Burton to this Taylor." actually when i saw this video in 2014, i thought it was Elizabeth Taylor and Eddie Fisher. he was married to Debbie Reynolds and cheated on her ALOT. (which was the vibe i got during the movie premiere part of the video)
Burton to this Taylor definitely comes to mind from “…Ready For It” Not to mention starring Scott Eastwood, who’s dad was Clint Eastwood and he starred in movies from the 70’s on.
I fell in love with her after listening to this song..I wasn't a fan back then but i didn't like the negative things that the media says about her. I did listen to her songs but this song, changed everything! I've been her fan ever since. She's an amazing person too❤️ She has always been herself💕
The blue microphone, the blue shirt with a cat on it, the review of multiple 1989 music videos ahead of 1989 Taylor's version release,... I'm sensing a pattern here and I'm pretty sure that pattern spells "You're a full fledged Swiftie!" Welcome to the best cult in the world!
my aunt actually stayed where taylor stayed while filming this video in Africa and got to see that waterfall that the one shot was showing and her tour guide was also the tour guide that taylor had and he described her as very kind and down to earth.
This can't be real life! 2 video drops within 24 hours. Us swifties are blessed. This album means the world to us, the videos are everything to us. You're making me cry. You knew exactly what to do for us. Thank you💙💙💙💙 1989TV was fire btw
This song might just be one of the most devastating Taylor has written, she’s in a relationship that she knows isn’t going to work out so all she asks is that when he does eventually leave, he’ll remember her the way she’ll remember him - I feel like because it’s a relatively upbeat song it’s easy to overlook how sad it is until you actually listen to the lyrics
Took me a while to be able to listen to it at all again for that exact reason. Found it originally during a situationship almost exactly like that and it became our song... (I don't why that seemed like a good idea at the time) The bridge still does things to me lol
If you're gonna continue your TSwift marathon, you should do a Cardigan/Willow double feature. They're so beautiful and weave together despite being from two different albums, really cool visual storytelling.
You are not only a video editor but you understand art as a whole and specially Taylor's art. I wish you would go see the Eras Tour Movie with your family and do a reaction to it because I think it's beautifully shot and edited! Just an idea! 💙
Aaaa! YAY! One of my favorite songs of all time 💛 Some fun facts about it: the beat/drum sound 2:28 it’s a recording of Taylor’s heartbeat 💓 And the actor it’s Clint Eastwood son, so he has that kind of 1950s actors charm/ looks? Haha In my opinion PS: 11:29 I think they are Wildebeests? I know because of the traumatizing stampede scene in the lion king 😂
In this, she is playing the "role" of Marjorie Finlay, who is her grandmother! Marjorie was an opera singer and inspired Taylor to pursue music. On the album Evermore, Taylor has a song called Marjorie and credits backing vocals to Marjorie posthumously. Just a little cool fun fact for you :)
😂 I did in fact come here immediately after listening to a good chunk of 1989 TV. To answer your question, those were wildebeests, possibly during their migration. And for the trivia you didn’t know: her love interest is Scott Eastwood, one of Clint Eastwood’s sons.
Now you understand why this is probably my favorite song/video from her. I love the location and all of the “Old Hollywood” glamour! It’s just a STUNNING video.
Not sure if it was mentioned already, but the video was inspired by old Hollywood films like The African Queen and Out of Africa. Taylor also donated all of the proceeds from the video to the African Parks Foundation. Also also, Taylor's brunette character was inspired by her grandmother, Marjorie Finlay. She later wrote a song about Marjorie for the Evermore album. P.S.: Love your shirt!
I am a dedicated Swiftie! I really appreciate your analysis and how to techniques! Listening as I finish up our band videos! You are an inspiration, too. I believe the herd scene is Wilderbeasts. My favorite memories are in front of a sunrise!
Kansas City girl learning all about Taylor by watching reactors. I have really liked yours the best discussing the making of these videos. I am learning to listen to the music more than the surface (background at store) and am blown away by depth of lyrics. These videos dig even deeper. I’m impressed.
I enjoy your Taylor reactions so much. Seeing someone paying attention to the edits and lyrics is so nice. I really like hearing your thoughts on both parts. :) Can't wait for Style. :)
It’s so fun watching your videos! I’m a oldish lady, never intended to be a Taylor Swift fan but that’s how it works with the greats. I know her videos are good, and you point out why. (My dad’s still living so I appreciate the dad jokes, intended or not.)
One of my favorite videos of Taylor's. It's just so visually appealing. I never tire of it even after all these year's later. I bet it was amazing experience to film in Africa.
Dude I've been so excited to watch all of your videos. Not just T-swizzy, but everyone you review! Kindly requesting you react to some paramore music videos including Hard Times, Rose Colored Boy, and Running Out Of Time ✨ ♥
I was kinda sad when he did Blank Space before Wildest Dreams. But here we are!!! I love you!!! I just thought Wildest Dreams is a more interesting music video, especially with all the animal stuff.
I just wanted to say thank you for reacting to so many of Taylor’s videos! I feel like they don’t get as much love as they deserve, and watching your reactions makes me feel like I’m watching them for the first time all over again!
idk if anyone has said this already, but this video (more specifically the relationship between the characters in it) is thought to have been inspired by Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor which wld also explain the old Hollywood feel you said you found. their relationship was very prominent in Hollywood and they were quite know for their big fights on film sets. Taylor has also mentioned them before, most notably in her song 'Ready for It' with the lyric "Burton to this Taylor"
I dont know why, there is just something about this music video that makes me want to watch it on a loop. The combination of the storyline and the cinematography is so captivating and it's the only TS video that's ever brought me to tears. It's so beautiful and sad all at once.
Taylor channeled her grandmother in this video. She was a very beautiful and successful opera singer and Taylor pays homage to her classic glam of the times.
Omg king you are feeding us with all these videos. As someone who studies film, Taylor Swift’s music videos have ALWAYS fascinated me. They’re all so engaging and so well thought out, it’s crazy! They’ve always added an elevation to her music as well, it gives me a new context that makes me appreciate the songs, and her as an artist, even more than I did before. Great content!
Man you have an amazing eye, (and quick!). You catch things I’ve never noticed... It’s fun watching you break everything down! Thanks for the education!
17:48 agreed 😂I believe this was still the days where she put all creative control in the director’s hands…however you can tell how much Taylor learned from the very best and is now in charge of shot-by-shot scenes in all her more recent MVs. Also this shot gives me big Noah and great flood vibes vs savanna vibes 🕊️
For me...when the location changes from Africa to a movie studio, I see everything as only her "wildest dreams"... including them being together, and the incredible film made onsite in Africa. At the movie premiere when she sees him with his wife, she realizes that it's all just her imagination. Except, when he runs after her, you question all that! Scott Eastwood looks so much like his father, Clint Eastwood, in this video. Guessing you weren't aware of that! He was perfect for this video. Maybe that's how his father looked in the 1950s.
I always took that set in the studio to mean they (as characters) weren’t actually in Africa-it was a dream all along, vivid imagination filling a painted backdrop with life. The scenes that don’t show lights or other film props I think are the real moments between them, not for the movie? Maybe you also came to that conclusion and I missed it. (I have a fever. I told you to take care of yourself and then *I* got sick 😂) I love watching your videos. Just delightful. Gives me a whole new appreciation for the MVs. Does that make you the MVP? (A dad joke of my own, courtesy of my fever, haha) Have you seen any of the music videos for Lover? Because I love those a lot. It’s my favorite album (unpopular opinion). I don’t remember any… (my daughter’s favorite is “Me!” but I like “Lover”. We both enjoy “You Need to Calm Down” though-she especially like the behind the scenes on that. I don’t think they’re anywhere near Taylor’s most popular, though…)
Love your reactions 🎉 This song has been a favourite in all it’s dreaminess since the first time I heard it and the video is IMO perfect for the song and in itself as a little mini movie ❤
11:40 Those are wildebeests btw, also, your breakdowns are so interesting and I learn so much!! Side note: did anyone else see the link between this and Suburban Legends??
Thank you so much for the timing of these videos! Is really cool to learn while going through all the nostalgia of these songs AND the event of the re-record coming out and our girl reclaiming her work back 💙💙💙
He was genius casting. I get the feeling they would not get along personality-wise at all. But he’s like the perfect even hunkier version of an abstraction of all her blonde boyfriends combined.
I love this song beyond measure, it’s had a place in my heart since my early child hood it just speaks to me, this seems cheesy but Taylor swift raised me in a way I can’t explain. Thank you Taylor
The Astro scene is a fixed tripod with your iso around 1500, with the LOWEST aperture. Your Exposure time will be roughly 30-40 seconds and your interval set to 1 minute. You then point your lens at the North star. and let the camera to its thing. Usually i use an intervalometer to help out. make it a breeze. its with you get into equatorial mounts and star trackers when stuff gets messy... or fun :)
This video is based on the shooting of King Solomon's Mines with Stewart Granger and Deborah Kerr. Amazing film with some of the most incredible wildlife shots on film.
The choreographer was from sytycd and so were the hip hop guys and the 2 in silver also from Sytycd. She was jumping on a trampoline, same stage for the dancers.
9:52 the easiest comparison, for a reflector, is the windshield covers people use, during hot summer days, to keep as much heat out of of their vehicles. One side is usually very metallic, and shiny, while the other is typically darker and dull. 11:32 I think those are Wildebeests. It’s the same type of animal that killed Mufasa, Simba’s dad in the animated Lion King.
Love this reaction! I’m actually really surprised that you didn’t catch on that the characters are based on Old Hollywood love story- Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. They met on a movie set while both were married were married to other people, but they did end up marrying each other. They divorced, remarried, then divorced again and the relationship was VERY well known for having explosive, public arguments. Taylor also references them in “…Ready For It?” with the lyrics “You can be my jailer, Burton to this Taylor.”
Im from South Africa and this was shot in Botswana (our neighbouring country) , it’s actually really easy to shoot these shots with the animals when you’re here, they probably went on a safari drive in a game reserve that has these animals, there are people in these reserves that knows where the animals usually are during certain parts of the day, they probably went on a safari to find these animals and shoot them while they are in their natural habitat just doing what they do…. The lion shot is definitely fake (both of them), they would never allow lions to come close to people except when they’re in cages. The zebra and giraffe shots is also fake, I’ve seen zebras and giraffes and they would never be that cooperative for a shoot, they run away when they just hear the slightest noise.
Extra points for the cinematic effect: the male actor is an Eastwood... like from Clint Eastwood. Liked that fact. And... she is shown relaxed with a lion could be interpreted like she is relaxed in that situation so she is okay to put her heart at risk with falling for a man she really know wont commit to her
His name is Scott Eastwood. Yes, his father is Clint Eastwood. Clint would absolutely be able to get access to a ton of production equipment for the video for them. Heck, it may be his own collection?
Those are wildebeests. They travel in huge herds and migrate massive distances looking for the best grasses to eat. Having been on safari in Africa this is breathtaking every time I watch it. It makes me miss Botswana so much!
WE ARE BEING FED !!!!! haha yeah this video is so gorgeous! And the beat, it's her actual beating heart 😊. I take that shot in the studio to mean they were never on Africa. It was all "just pretend", very much like their relationship because he's married. It was all the Wildest Dream. One forgets to say it all the time but it is so fun to learn these things one never thinks about while watching the videos. Specially things that seem Simple and are actually NOT lol
"Props to the animals for just being in this."
Lion: Props to me for not just being here but also for singing the lyrics.
4:42 fun choice is not only the focal point, but: she looks at him and he is in the center, he looks at her and she is set a bit to the side... he sees her as his side fling, while for her he is the center of her interests. Frame choice communicates so much. 😃

Joseph Kahn spoke openly about these characters being based on Burton and Taylor after this video came out
@@kristint9212 I never knew that. Is there articles or videos that I can find online still?

I’m sure it’s been said before, but if not ; One thing I truly admire about this song is that the beat is her heart beat, which is such a unique idea!
I’m a casual Swiftie, and didn’t know that. Very cool!

Josh works hard.
His comment at the end of the video saying enjoy the album was so unbelievably cute!
He really is doing top tier content.
Wait!!! Why are you spoliing us so muuchh!!! 😭😭
Because taylor’s version released today and will lead to more searches and views
And we love that
He’s literally not spoiling anything. The music video is 8 years old! But he is just referencing 1989 TV being released today…
@@grettaoltjeri think she meant something else 😂 spoiling as in generous

Yes! I love a sad bop and All You Had To Do Was Stay is the same way. Completely deserving of the track five position.
I think this might be one of my favourite Taylor videos. The concept, the cinematography, the storytelling… it really is criminally underrated
If you're gonna continue your TSwift marathon, you should do a Cardigan/Willow double feature. They're so beautiful and weave together despite being from two different albums, really cool visual storytelling.

the swifties are getting fed today with all of these new videos, just finished your Blank Space video, so amazing

Aaaa! YAY! One of my favorite songs of all time 💛

Definitely Wildebeests.
you releasing this on 1989 tv release night is bold and i love it
That's Clint Eastwood's son, Scott. They actually shot this video in Africa.

The plane shot with the animals running, they’re wildebeest lol

I enjoy your Taylor reactions so much. Seeing someone paying attention to the edits and lyrics is so nice. I really like hearing your thoughts on both parts. :) Can't wait for Style. :)
This definitely is a mini movie music video. It’s definitely my favorite from her ❤. Let’s be real, all her videos are ridiculously amazing!!
You're such a great editor, I feel like doing it! awesome job! There's so much movement, wilderbeasts, tame lions come from captivity
It’s so fun watching your videos! I’m a oldish lady, never intended to be a Taylor Swift fan but that’s how it works with the greats. I know her videos are good, and you point out why. (My dad’s still living so I appreciate the dad jokes, intended or not.)

Cinematic masterpiece! That has always been my opinion.
I just love your content. It is like seeing through new eyes. Questions I would never ask. Things that seem easy are so intricate. Great reaction!
Thank you!!!
The animals in the helicopter shot are wildebeest, I think
man i swear there was a behind the scenes of this music video but i cant find it so either it was erased off the internet or i imagined it

The seemingly-random seagull is part of the 1989 thematic imagery, representing freedom. The latest cardigan she's selling has them on the back!

Love your reactions 🎉 This song has been a favourite in all it’s dreaminess since the first time I heard it and the video is IMO perfect for the song and in itself as a little mini movie ❤

i've never thought of him being married the whole time 🤣🤣 i laughed hard. amazing reaction as alwayssss

I just finished to listen to the "1989 TV" album 🎉😊

The lion shot is definitely fake (both of them), they would never allow lions to come close to people except when they’re in cages. The zebra and giraffe shots is also fake, I’ve seen zebras and giraffes and they would never be that cooperative for a shoot, they run away when they just hear the slightest noise.
Another fun fact if you haven’t already heard it - her name in the video is Marjorie Finn, in reference to her grandmother Marjorie ❤
LOVE YOUR SHIRT
The giraffe is the key here. It has all the meaning, represents someone she loved at the time
WE ARE BEING FED !!!!! haha yeah this video is so gorgeous!
Seagulls are a motif across the artwork for 1989 - so that'll be why the seagull shot is in there
