Thank you so much! Your helpful hints changed my summer. I love hard-boiled eggs but even boiling eggs heats the kitchen so much I just didn't do them in the summer. I just did it exactly according to your instructions and they came out perfect. Thanks again!
New subscriber, this works with my 1000w Sharp microwave. 1/2 teaspoon for every regular egg, more is better, to be absolutely sure it doesn't not crack or explode. One can even make soft boiled eggs at around 4 to 4:30 minutes, 4:30 to 5 minutes is hardboiiled (may need a lot of trial error to get the perfect soft-boiled egg for the salt, container size factor, water and time ratio. God bless.
My stove is down and I needed to make breakfast for my 80 yr old mom. I did 7 minutes but probably could have done less because one egg split but was cooked well. The whites from both came out great. I also covered the bowl with a microwavable top

Another web page specifies "half a teaspoon of salt PER EGG." He used a bit more for his three, but didn't explain how to adjust the amount - or the time.
Thanks. I appreciate you sharing your information. It could be hard enough just making a video and talking on camera for people to critique and criticize.
Yet here's my dumbass coming onto here after I blew my eggs up in the microwave 😅😂😂😂😂 and throughout the house trying to run to the front door cuz they wouldn't stop
Fun fact: Cutting open a hard boiled egg will cause an explosion of boiling water due to pockets of superheated water inside, so making a hard boiled egg in the microwave would effectively be as if creating a cheaper alternative to a grenade
Thank you! You are correct. I actually used the method as outlined. The egg didnt explode in the microwave, but it exploded on the counter after it had been removed from the microwave-- which is far more dangerous!! People need to get real and stop trying to recreate the wheel! You can boil an egg on the stove in the same amount of time and eliminate risk of putting an eye out!

There is another video here that shows to poke a hole with a needle and cover with water and cook for 10 mins or according to your wattage. Salt is not needed. Going to try it for the first time right now.
Pro tip…they have precooked eggs at Costco (Kirkland brand) that are wrapped in packs of two with a total of 36 in a box. Damn good, cheap, and easy. You’re welcome.
Well I just had 2 of 4 eggs explode in my microwave using the "poke a hole in the broad end of the egg and cook for 4 minutes" after preheating the water for another 4 min. Lots of info out on the internet but it sure is a crap shoot! This time I'm using salt which wasn't mentioned in ANY of the other videos I watched and poking holes in both ends of the egg instead of just the broad end and cooking on high for 8 min at 50% power. If I don't add another comment assume that I was successful! Ron was 1000% right, an exploded egg in a microwave is a mess!
I tried it all but settled with the easiest one- wet 2 pieces of napkins, put 4-6 eggs on top of it and start the rice cooker for at least 12 minutes and worked all the time. Save time and no pot cleaning.
Amazing, I've only done sunny side up and scrambled eggs (with butter and a few tablespoons of water). Could save the brine for future hard boiled eggs? Or does it have to be new salt, new water all the time? God bless, Rev. 21:4
I tried this and it took me 30 minutes to finally get the courage to take it out of the microwave... I was afraid it would blow up in my face... Now I still didn’t get to pealing it... I’m so afraid it will explode. I should have just used the old traditional way 🙄 It would have been done by now. weird how this vid popped in my feed from 5 years ago. But a better and faster way is to use an electric kettle. Would have to be one with a large opening. I have a metal one but glass ones work as well. I can put in 6 eggs in mine. Let it boil and auto shut off. Let it sit for a min or two after shut off. Drain and add cool water. No salt needed.
I don't know what went wrong,my microwave is a 700 watt, I did everything exactly as shown, cooked for 10 minutes, I cracked one egg, it was still raw. Didn't cook at all. My microwave is brand new. It cooked frozen chicken pot pies perfectly at 6 minutes, 36 seconds last night.

How the hell the salt prevent the eggs from exploding?
Science. Salt prevents ions from the microwaves to cook the egg too fast.
