    Oh dear, I remember I was playing RCT when I was younger and I could not figure out how to do the stacked scenery. The way I got around it was to literally template every single scenery piece and save it with a ride. That way I could raise/lower the land and put the saved wide with scenery at the side, essentially placing scenery in mid air. And I built a lot of stuff that way... Gosh was it a game changer when I figured out there was a dead simple solution to that.
    Still, I think my main confusion was left since I originally started with RCT1 and I don't think this advanced scenery construction was possible at all in RCT1.

    Marcel I've noticed a lot of throughput on roller coasters can be improved by placing the entrance and exits in strategic locations. For example, an exit at the end of the station on the same side of the entrance with an entrance towards the middle results in a much slower load time than if you have the exit on one side and the entrance on the other. Also, having the entrance closest to the middle of the train can save several seconds versus having guests walk from one side entirely.
    Would you be interested in delving into this further? I'm curious what the fastest time you could have trains leave the station for each ride type. Most trains can be loaded within about ten seconds but it varies and I haven't checked each ride but maybe you have an idea already of have long it takes to load x passengers?

    • @MarcelVos
      @MarcelVos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      I am aware of that trick and I try to at least somewhat optimize for that in my videos, especially the ride overviews (the go karts one is an exception). It would be interesting to delve deeper into it though, so I might do that at some point.

    • @sprawlz6466
      @sprawlz6466 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can also put a chain lift piece at the top of an airtime hill to cheese another block section into the ride. I do that a lot

    • @Adamantium9001
      @Adamantium9001 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm pretty sure the exit location never matters.

    • @Psychonautical89
      @Psychonautical89 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@sprawlz6466 oh I am a wizard with block chains. I tend to have a minimum of 6 trains on even small coasters, with my larger ones topping out at 9. And they are timed to no stall on any of them, hence my focus on loading efficiency. I just started to really zero in on it and placement of the exit and entrance is just the beginning.
      For example, yesterday I discovered that leaving a Virginia Reel on "Wait for Full Load" with guests in line will fill up and take off in just over 5 seconds without a timer box checked as well. However, if you reduce the maximum wait time to 4 seconds, it will depart about one second faster while still seating all 4 passengers, speeding up that part of the ride by 20%.
      When done correctly, the implications are even larger with block brakes and big coasters. I'll check later what the load time for a full line on the larger trains are but even the biggest ones should be able to load to capacity in around 10-14 seconds max.

    • @sprawlz6466
      @sprawlz6466 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Psychonautical89 oh wow I didn't know that. I always make Virginia reels too, I'll definitely try that next time. Thanks for the tip.
      I often try to put my entrance as close to the middle car of the first train as I can (usually the third station piece from the front but it can vary) because I have noticed that guests tend to load up the front and back of the trains first. This way, the last people getting on just sit down in the middle car right in front of them. If I can maybe get the max load time right like you said, I'd be golden.
      Oh and also, I notice that when you put a stair piece before the entrance, the guests walk onto the ride as fast as they go up stairs which is slower than normal. So I always make sure I have a normal flat path leading into the station.
      I still do typically have one problem though; after waiting in line for a while, the guests do an animation where they check their watch. They do this as they walk into the ride as well and it significantly slows down the loading process because they stop walking for a second every time they do it. I've tried putting mascots and queue TVs by the entrance but it doesn't seem to work fully. Do you have any problems with that? And if so, do you have any suggestions other than shortening my queue lines?

    I must admit, while I really like RCT2, after playing Parkitect I'm finding RCT2's controls to be frustratingly clunky by comparison. The big difference is that Parkitect has the "Ctrl press" enabled by default. If you raise a scenery item to a certain height and then move it horizontally, it stays on the same height. That makes it much, *much* faster to build large buildings and roofs. I also like that Parkitect lets you create scenery blueprints without attaching them to rides, streamlining the copy-paste-method significantly.

    I saw the volume of red and blue balloons in the intro and I thought you were playing Bloons Tower Defense for a moment.

    Dang, I wish the Shift and Control edits were part of original RCT. They would make Rainbow Valley a breeze.

    The CTRL trick is the one I keep forgetting or haven't gotten used to using. Probably because of a one-sided bug? of using both CTRL + Shift that made me not use CTRL.

    I wish there was something to lock side of the wall you want to build on, like in case of walls since it can be a issue to place such between the lines of paths

    I have been playing this game since the early 2000's and didn't know about the ctrl for vertical position lock and have always built every single roof by trial-and-erroring the inside (obscured by walls of course) of a building I am making until all the roofs are lined up...

    1:42 Twin roller coasters names "Agoraphobia" and "Claustrophobia" and the slide named "Shortstuff's Slide." Are those names original to that park in RCT1 or did I just miss that all these years??!
