I like this one, but I prefer Elvis' cover of it much more. His voice was just really suited for this sort of song. Paul Simon liked it too, he said this of it when he first heard it? “When I first heard Elvis perform ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ it was unbelievable. I thought to myself, ‘How the hell can I compete with that?’”
Of course, the original is always the original and stands on its own merits, and was certainly a great song from them.

They wrote it and this is the original version. Elvis Presley covered it back in 1973 in Vegas. Paul and Art Garfunkle were there. After the Concert, Paul said he was going to hang his guitar on the wall when he got home. He said that there was no way he could compete with Elvis' version.
Great song. I thing both versions are very well done.

Yep. S&G didn't "cover" this... it's theirs to begin with. Stunning. Deliberately written in the style of Baptist hymns by Paul Simon, so well written that it became part of choral repertoire for many churches. Much covered by other pop/rock artists, too, particularly notably in recent years by a cappella quintet Pentatonix and metal band Disturbed...

This song is a part of the human test. If you can make it all the way through the song without shedding one tear you are not human. You're probably an Android
