I've always said that the worst part of the campaign, besides the lack of clearly intended splitscreen coop, was that about 60% of the cutscenes would have been amazing levels. The opening hillside brawl was absolutely a playable layout, set up like nothing we'd seen before, and The Locke v Chief fight would have been one of the defining moments of the series as a boss battle, showing the sheer terror of facing against a Spartan with something to live for.
@@reoakiodesu Like, you get him down to half health and then he pulls out a Spartan Laser, and of course it's a hopeless fight, because you're dueling the Chief. People would still be complaining about the story, but the campaign would have lightyears better reception with moments like those.
Still sad that the only time chief and Arbiter caught up was in the novels, but I am glad at what they did there. They simply sat by a fire catching up on lost time, and the arbiter gave chief one last word of encouragement, referring to him as a brother and chief simply nods in approval (I am paraphrasing a bit and some of what I say may be a bit inaccurate lol)

Nathan Fillion is unironically my favorite actor. He was in couple of my most developmental childhood memories (Halo, Justice League Unlimited as the Vigilante), and as I grew up I kept seeing him in places. Community, Brooklyn 99, Destiny, The Suicide Squad, etc. I remember watching that concept video of a Nathan Fillion led Uncharted movie too. Now he's in the Rookie, which I love. If I could meet one actor in the world, it would be him.
Gonna go ahead and say it - every Halo fan who worked to hate on Guardians so hard he was wiped from the canon, and hell, how they basically said we don't want anyone but Chief....y'all sit in the corner and think about what you did.
I asked him about reviewing less linear games like Mass Effect or Skyrim in a livestream a while back. He said that he wasn't sure how to make his format work for games that branch so dramatically, since he wants to give his honest impressions of his particular playthough, but those games can be radically different every time you play them, by design. So he would either have to provide a single playthrough worth of story beats and inevitably miss some important things, or else have to spend a ton of time on research and replaying, or else have to only talk about the most superficial elements that remain constant.
@@giggityguy i mean in mass effect i would imagine all u would need was like one or two playthroughs and then have the rest in the after game segment like with this one and like in halo not all of the side content is gone over like the skulls or multiplayer it would be kinda hard and take more time and effort but it is totally possible and could be done for a special or something

I’m playing all the halos with my cousin as he’s never even touched them we finished reach and he fell in love he’s been borrowing my halo books to learn the lore I’ve officially nerded him
I loved Blue Team in the books. I grew up with them, and when I heard Halo 5 was going to include them, I was hyped. But the moment I heard them refer to MC as "Chief", I just...couldn't. These four are almost the only people in the galaxy who they can relate to. And it feels like 343 never conveyed that.
Interesting point on Buck's complaining about 'gray area BS;' the man was an ODST, and while they're not the favored pick of ONI for covert work all the time they are still used by them rather regularly. I mean, I get why that kind of work could frustrate him, and why this particular mission is getting under his skin, but I'm skeptical that he's never had an 'unofficial' assignment during his service with the ODST (not counting Halo 3: ODST).
It is a shame we didn't get a few more games after this, I mean imagine breaking off from the story as Buck to reform Alpha 9 then to Chief and the all out war on Reach again to the connection with Halo Wars 2, I only finished this story once might have to give it another run through
I always thought it was crazy silly for the UNSC to make armor lockers like that. Like literally, all it takes is ONE human to sell an armor-locker to a pirate jackal or grunt or brute, and bam. Presto. Bingo bango. Spartans hard countered for years on end, until they spend 15 billion on making entirely new armor lines with built in resistors.
19:43 if they told better stories then they would’ve gotten to. It’s their own fault, not the fans who (selfishly) didn’t like having a new studio try to completely change the look, feel and vibe of a beloved franchise
I always loved actually playing Halo 5, but the story I just could never get into, with how many threads it either underused or simple cut off early for the vast majority of players
This was disappointing because I took a break away from gaming for a few & when I picked up my Xbox One, Halo 5 was my most anticipated game. The constant negative feedback from the community was confusing because although I understood frustrations & agreed with most criticisms of the campaign MP suite, & forge, I still absolutely loved the game. Halo 5 is arguably my favorite in the entire franchise - up there with Halo 2. The story itself isn't the best with some annoying promethean encounters & the Warden overload was unbelievably ridiculous. However, I thought the visuals, set pieces, weapon & vehicle sandbox, and gameplay mechanics still made for an enjoyable experience and I _loved_ multiplayer.
You have got to do days gone. Its a beautiful, well acted narrative that perfectly paces itself over the game. Also deacon saint john is just a fantastic protagonist, a complete badass, very clever, quick witted, endlessly charming, and a softy underneath.
I do agree I wish they did there trilogy and all the extra stuff you said gamingwins. However to be honest my only problem with halo 4 and 5 besides story is the art style it's way to different to really be seen as full halo and I'm talking about like the covenent and spartan armours etc. If they stuck to the original art style or close I think I would except 4 and 5 more but thats my only complaint. Promethean weapons always hit like trucks with nitrous, while UNSC weapons were only good if you were too. Covenant was a mixed bag of really good and painfully terrible.
Honestly I don't mind the Chief v. Locke fight. Yeah the IVs aren't as powerful as the IIs, but they're still Spartans (as Chief himself says), and MC definitely wasn't going all out in this fight. My only complaint is that the fight seems really slow. There's a video of the same fight but 50% faster and it immediately improves the whole thing.
There is a rumor floating around that after the mess that was Infinite, they're gonna just reboot the whole damn thing and start from scratch. If it's true, I'm not 100% sure how to feel about it.

And don’t even get me started on forge, no co-op campaign, the abysmal multiplayer support. Lack of community features. The list goes on. I still enjoyed the campaign because i thought they’d be heading somewhere with this new story. But, nope sadly.

I heavily recommend Assassin's Creed Unity if you haven't already! As for Halo, we aren't getting campaign dlc...yet. I think they'll be redirecting focus on The Endless once multiplayer gets back in order in which I think we're almost there! Season 3 on March seems to be the final screw needed. We have an amazing forge which had allowed the community to make SO MUCH CONTENT! From classic maps to professional remade COD maps in the Halo theme. Co-op campaign exists for online, split-screen is only on hold until multiplayer is once again figured out. While I do think this all could've been handled better with another year long delay, I think what we have in Infinite is fairly close to the final product. Come March, we're getting a custom games browser, paired with the amazing forge, we will have some awesome community made content to play like the old Reach days! I'll also add that Season 3 is gonna be a 3 month season so hopefully that shows that Infinite is finally gonna be on a steady course from now on. I just hope the Microsoft lay offs didn't sabotage this :( I feel like you, as a representative of positivity, shouldn't give up hope on Halo Infinite yet! It's so close to being what it should have been at launch and I have no doubt that Infinite is gonna grow into being one of the best Halo games ever!
@@NukaDud I really wouldn't hold out any hope for that campaign DLC, considering that 343 had pretty much its entire campaign team laid off during these recent Microsoft layoffs. It's sad to think about but there's really no one even there to make the DLC anymore.

Halo 2 is one of the first games I ever played and to this day is my favourite game in the franchise

I feel like you, as a representative of positivity, shouldn't give up hope on Halo Infinite yet! It's so close to being what it should have been at launch and I have no doubt that Infinite is gonna grow into being one of the best Halo games ever!
@@NukaDud I really wouldn't hold out any hope for that campaign DLC, considering that 343 had pretty much its entire campaign team laid off during these recent Microsoft layoffs. It's sad to think about but there's really no one even there to make the DLC anymore.

Yeah, this game got a lot more hate than it deserved. Sure, like you said, the story situation was an issue but it felt so good to play.

Guardians was fun. Multiplayer was fairly fine. Tho only really did PvE, PvP Halo has always been frustrating to me.

@illeyezcobra While fair. I have never been into Halo for the multiplayer. I enjoy the story of Halo and Halo 5 and Infinite were awful to experience as stories.

People always say NightFall is a pretty bad movie (I watched the movie and not the web series) but aside from a bland and cleshe story frame, its pretty good imo
