I spent a few summers and a couple of long New England winters working in a sawmill. This brought back some good memories. I would stand in an area and flip boards up to the trim saws and those teeth would buzz right by my head and shoot through the metal walls of the barn. I was told when I started, "Stand here, not here." and then they pointed to the row of holes punched through the metal siding. Many of the men I worked with are no longer around and this makes me smile thinking of them. Thanks for bringing back some good memories, "Rt" (now I need to go smell some sawdust)

This is the first time I have ever written a comment on a TH-cam video. I have watched many many Wranglerstar videos and find them informative and entertaining. But what I find most inspiring and enjoyable about them is to see how happy you seem to be, doing what you wish, living life to the fullest. Terrific lifestyle.

This video brings back many happy memories. I lived in and around Grants Pass in southern Oregon in the early 1950s and saw mills and logging were the major industry in the area. The mills were not as modern as this one, of course, but I imagined that I could smell the fresh cut lumber as I watched. Interesting and well-produced video, Cody and Mrs. W. Even got to see Jack! Thanks again for sharing another family outing.

That is a very cool place. It was interesting seeing those saw blades with the inserted teeth. We have Amish sawmills all over the place around here that use the circular blades powered by a big diesel truck engine. It is amazing to watch them in action. There are definitely no Safety Sallies or OSHA reps. anywhere to be found.

Very interesting video there. I am an old sawmillowner in Norway, - and this stuff is in my blood from the 1986 -2000, - and after that a long period other stuff, and now the beginning again. One time sawmillowmer, and the smell, the lumber and all that, and I am always captured.

I'm from an area that is heavily forested, and logged extensively. As a result we have a good many log mills, and kilns. I was a Volunteer Fire Fighter for over twenty years and can remember several times that a kiln would ignite, an entire Mill would burn, or one of the numerous sawdust piles would catch on fire. What a pain in the butt. Sometimes we'd be there for days on end, pumping tens of thousands of gallons of water on the fire. Then the DEC would get in on the act, worried about the "runoff." That was always a lesson in futility, but I suppose they had to give it a try.

My family runs a similar company (just bigger) and we have a hydraulic press which helps glue together planks into one 6m long beam which is similar in diameter to this big beam (we also do other diameters) (8 beams per 45min) :D People can use it later to make door/window frame or even whole windows. I was working for few years on an awesome massive barking machine which was massive enough to process huge oaks which were heavy enough to damage machine while they were transferred from loader to trolley which was moving tree left and right while bark was stripped by milling head.

I have a shelf in my office made from one of those that is at least from the 1880's and probably older
