So the reason Kit is shirtless a lot is actually because it shows the parallel with Charlie not like his body and Nick being very comfortable in his. It’s important for the storyline.
I agree, and I think a lot of people miss that point because of the obvious thirst factor in the fan base. 🤣 y’all are pretty much explaining why Charlie has body issues. He has already internalized that his body type is considered undesirable by the majority of queer men… and society in general.
@@graphiquejack I mean obviously thirst over Kit Connor cause he’s beautiful. Nothing against saying what’s true but also getting the point behind why he’s shirtless a lot. Kit actually talked about it in an interview and it was so beautiful.
Obviously he is also shot shirtless for other reasons as well. 😅 I'm afraid there's also some marketing and capitalism behind Netflix, shocking it might be. People just love to analyze these shows like they have degrees in media studies. Not to say that they are completely wrong but from adult perspective those analysis are usually quite simple, obvious and not worth of mentioning. It's also very allowed to watch tv just for entertainment and not be super invested.
In the comics it's even more evident because Nick doesn't have Kit's perfect physique but on the contrary he has a softer body but this doesn't create any problems for him, while Charlie is so insecure about his body.

Watching a bunch of reactions to this season... I feel like people aren't getting why Nick doesn't say anything for so long after charlie says I love you to him in the shower... Nick is processing that when he was telling charlie that he might have an eating disorder, charlie wanted to have that i love you moment. Remember Charlie said he had something to talk about first and then said Nick should go first... Nick is like processing how he derailed that moment... like "system crash, reboot" like omg what did I do! like Nick has been so worried about talking to charlie about the eating disorder and charlie has been all nervous about saying i love you first. Nick is processing all of that in that moment. 🙂

I don't they necessarily didn't get all of that. I just think this is a first time reaction, and the viseral reaction to this scene for a probably lot of people, is empathizing with, or sympathizing for Charlie's nerves to Nick not saying anything whilst only we the audience are shown that he's silent because he's processing what Charlie just said.
I mean, I think it would be a fair assumption for anyone to make in Charlie's position but also, only we the audience are aware of the extent to Charlie's insecurities about saying "I love you", because only we see his inner thoughts through the animations.

That was a really good insight from you. The only thing I thought was that he was a bit shocked because Charlie referred to the conversation about ED and said "I lied". And I thought maybe Nick had gotten a bit in his head and imagined worst case scenarios before hearing the words "I love you". Like he needed a little time to process...
But hadn't I read the novel I would have probably been worried like Alex and Josh 😅😅

Absolutely! I wrote this under literally every review I saw this happen. And I think it makes the scene even more perfect.
It's so nice to have a show with (almost only) likeable characters that are nice to each other and no drama just for drama's sake.
So true. The drama is all natural and resolved in a mostly realistic way. So much better than most shows with relationships, queer or otherwise
YES!! That plus no violent murder!! Its hard to find a show without intense drama and people dying left and right.

Yes! I've really been enjoying Agatha so far! Kathryn and Joe are great together, and play off of each other so well! I think it shows a different side of Joe's acting ability as well. He's not playing it the same as he does Charlie, but also doesn't come across how he seems IRL, so it's cool to see more of his range. Kathryn is also just wonderful and hilarious lol

As an ace person, I can definitely say that Isaac's coming out to Charlie felt so real. Almost every time I've mentioned my aceness to anyone, it had to be accompanied by some sort vocab lesson. I don't mind doing it, but it does get exhausting. So I understand Isaac politely telling Charlie to google it. But overall I love Isaac's development this season. I think it's a great representation of us aces :)
Yeah, as an aro person, the vocab lesson is exhausting. Especially because after I explain, they just assume I am also ace, which I'm not, so then I have to explain more. Like almost 100% of the time. I actually only recently experienced a situation for the first time where I told a friend who I hadn't come out to that I didn't have an interest in dating and she asked if I was aro and it felt SO GOOD being asked if I was the correct sexuality for the first time in my life!
Lovely to have you back reacting to this wonderful show. One thing I picked up on in ep1 that I haven’t seen anyone else acknowledge though is how clearly Charlie’s body image issues are spelled out from the opening scenes. It’s hot enough that Tori is using a fan in her room but Charlie is still wearing a cardigan - a subtle but effective way to foreshadow what’s to come, I thought.
That jumped straight out at me too
Also, the I love you scene is BASICALLY frame for frame from the novel. It was so perfect!
Even funnier knowing that Kit’s fall, while accurate to the source material, was not how he had planned to do it. So his legitimately accidental fall on the first take was what ended up being used 😂
Get ready guys, This season is a roller-coaster
As an asexual person, I am so sooo impressed with how well they handled Isaac's story this season. I know it shouldn't be surprising, because Alice is ace/aro, but it's still great to see how well every aspect is portrayed.

Episode 1 literally made me a caterpillar especially when Nick said "come here you idi*t" but then episode 4 made me crying like a baby😂
Glad they have been touching on all these sensitive issues, It's really brought the characters together
I love how much you love this show and I agree with Alice's vision of Tara and Darcy being 2 steps ahead of Nick&Charlie in their relationship, this show is a masterpiece 💞
Every comic reader was waiting for the shower scene and they not only transferred it perfectly but made it even better. This little moment of hesitation in Nick realizing what moment he fucked up in the sea was amazing. And the moment underneath the lantern just so so sweet. And your editing Captain Sparrow in it was brilliant 🤣
Also, they produced these scenes october to december so kudos to the cast pretending to be relaxed and having fun while literally freezing to the bone in the british sea.
I'll say this you guys are more than likely going to cry this season.

Absolutely the right way to start off the third season, with a hint of the seriousness to come, but a very uplifting and happy ending. From what I’ve seen so far (I’m still only six episodes in with two to go), all of the characters get their chance to shine this season.

I loveJosh getting distracted about “lathering aboy’s back.” Nick and Charlie are supposed to be 16 years old. Kit was 19 when filming this episode. He talks about having to wax his chest every two weeks (Joe teases him about it). Wait till you see what happens throughout the season. Fire. There iare more bare-chested moments.
The conversations, all the communication in this show is what I've missed in my teen years. Back in my days (now I sound like a gran, but it was the early 2000s) we didn't talk about serious stuff. We just ignored it. I think the communicatiom between these people is amazing and what teenagers nowadays need to see! Or read, because all other Alice Oseman books are also very good!
I binged the whole season in one night, and was late to work the next day because of it, but it was so worth it 😂. I love this show so much. The representation is fantastic, and it's wonderful that they can tackle more serious themes and issues while maintaining that sweet, wholesome quality. I'm so happy that younger people have this show to watch, and wish I had something like it 20 years ago. My adolescence (and subsequent adult life) honestly might've turned out a little better if I had....

Also I think Joe really stepped his acting up this season. You can tell he benefited a great amount from Broadway and Agatha. Episode 2 he blew me away.

Similarly to how the coming out scene has been used to help others come out, or have that discussion, I think these episodes may help people have these discussions as well. So special.
I was so looking forward to this!! I think the difference between "I love you" and "I'm in love with you" is deeply cultural. I'm from Argentina, and my first language is Spanish, so I feel that in my culture it's totally different. At least up until a few years ago, saying "I love you" was a huge deal. You would use other phrases to let the other person know how your feelings were progressing. We would probably start with "me gustas" (I fancy you), then we might say "te quiero" (a lighter form of affection). After that, we might use "me estoy enamorando" (I'm falling in love) and lastly, we would say "te amo" (I love you).
Nowadays, with social media, "I love you" is used more casually, but when I was a teenager, saying "te amo" felt daunting!

I feel bad for poor Joe, who gets treated like a secondary character when the story is mostly told from Charlie’s perspective. I hope he hasn’t internalized how obviously thirsty everyone is for Kit, but basically ignores him, for the most part, at least in terms of the thirst comments.

@@graphiquejackI worry about these young performers and the way the public / media treat them… I really hope they have good people around them. It seems Joe has found some support/kindness in the Agatha cast. Saw an interview recently where he spoke about how much of a support the women were to him and he got a bit emotional. Both Joe and Kit have really had to navigate the fandom. Their interviews this time round seem to have an edge to them - like, I’m doing this but I’m not all in like before.
@@graphiquejack I don't agree, you obviously haven't noticed the amount of love, and positive comments Joe does get...the man is absolute fashion gold with his body type. He only complains about his hips, cause he himself said that he has trouble finding pants to fit him..he really only had one comment that a Dr. said to him that was mean spirited...the rest he kind of took it in stride like "they are my hips, I work with what I have" kinda attitude. BUT, I myself will say he does PHENOMENALLY well as a fashion model, and he can literally wear most anything, and it look good on him...and, the boy has a STUNNING profile...when he does the partial side-eye and light smirk?? OMG...GLORIOUSLY beautiful...Kit is gorgeous as well, just a different look is all...both of them are beautiful men.

If you've read the graphic novels, you wouldn't be so surprised. It's just an observation. For the most part the show follows the source material word for word.

Well, I was sat down to watch series 3 after the first one I couldn’t switch it off. I had to sit through it all absolutely fantastic and I couldn’t stop crying
I pulled an all nighter after it dropped after midnight Australian time. I discovered I’m too old to do that any more without serious health consequences. Oh well. S3 is superb.
I love how this season is about the stage after you've got your love. Everything isn't going to be rosy and there will always be difficult conversations to have - and the show is about having them rather than creating drama for drama's sake! Like you said, about having confidence in your relationship. I feel like we rarely get to see that on screen, it's usually about the forming of the relationship or about the breaking of it.

7:03 -- it's possible to be that in-shape *because* he's that young (Kit Connor was 19 when filming this). Youth/a developing body makes it easier to get in "x" shape. (It's once you're _out_ of that phase that it gets harder and harder to even keep a muscle, let alone your whole body, together... lol... 😉)

They did a really good job with the eating disorder storyline imo (keep in mind i've never had an eating disorder but do struggle with mental health, so definitely take the words of someone who's gone through an eating disorder over mine on this!)
But from my pov it felt like there was a lot of care and research put into this, which I believe comes from the source material (haven't read it), it was all really well approached and addressed !
So i'm really looking forward to watching the next episode !
As a gay man who went to school in the late 90’s early 00’s this resonated. We were eventually coming out of section 28. As I have gotten older I have had so many moments as an adult where I wish I have been able to do this in my teens. I really resonate with the “wasted time” feeling, so much stuff I missed out on as a teenager. 9:24
Have been waiting for your reaction ever since S3 dropped! You think this episode was a rollercoaster?? This season BROKE me. So beautiful, so well acted (particularly Joe and Kit - where is their awards??) and so well written. I have learned so much watching this show and I just love that it’s out there in the world, particularly for younger viewers. Healthy representation in all parts of life ❤

Season 3 has to be the hardest season to watch. They really did dip their toes into darker themes this season, and I loved it, but boy was it so much harder to watch. Especially the middle episodes of the season. So emotional.

i was okay for most of this season and then a single frame absolutely broke me
i sobbed throughout this first episode especially with Isaac's coming out scene because you neverrr see aroace rep anywhere and having it so explicitly means so much to me as an aroace person.

Don't ask me how I know this, but people with eating disorders are VERY protective of said disorders because they feel it's the one thing keeping them together. It's a coping mechanism, really. A bad one, but it's working very well, at least for a while. That's what keeping the disorder alive. They will always deny having an ED when people are trying to talk to them about it, they will get apprehensive and anxious and even aggressive. The disorder must be protected at all cost.
Personally, I feel the way Nick approached Charlie's eating disorder slightly confrontational. I'd be taken aback as well and dug further into denial. As an alternate approach, as Nick and Charlie have spoken about being able to control the amount of food Charlie eats, I would suggest they both look into eating disorders because of Nick's concerns.
Happy to see you two again. I know you have lots of other videos but I’m a 57 yo Gramma and most of the shows aren’t in my radar. But I love your Heartstopper reactions. I also watched Red White and Royal Blue, Our Flag Means Death, and maybe a couple of other films. Anyway, I’m glad to spend a little time with you both again as I recover from a cold. You should review Eyewitness (US)!! It is very different than the other shows you have reacted to but it's such an amazing show. The main 2 characters are lgbtq+ and are also very handsome. And it's such an underrated show!!!
