Feb 1979 i was a 16 year old drummer living in Wellington, New Zealand, Carmine was in town with Rod Stewart on the Blondes Have More Fun tour, the afternoon of the show Carmine did a drum clinic at a local music store, remember, this was way before clinics were a ‘thing’ and Carmine was doing them back then!!! I remember Carmine walking into the store, sitting down at a Ludwig kit set up in the middle of the shop, grabbed 1 x stick & 1 x brush and played a ‘BOSSA’.... true story, remember he also wrote Realistic Rock, probably the first decent Drum Method Book ever written. A drummer way ahead of everyone else at the time.

Carmine has definitely lived the life. One of the all-time great drummers who's played with a ton of other greats. Too bad Sykes never green lit a Blue Murder reunion.

In my family i have a Aunt and Uncle that had 10 Children 6 girls ,4 Boys and all the boys play Drums we all grew up together and i’ve Known of Carmines drumming since i was a Small child in the 70s it’s always kind of mystified me as to how to pronounce Appice at that moment and why it had changed so many times with my cousins we have a old old running joke amoung ourselves is it A Peace , AppySee , or A Peach Ay , That’s The Real Question i’m glad Carmine touched on the subject and kind of explained the mystery , one of my most favorite Vinyl LPs of all time and i’m almost 60 is Beck Bogart ,and Appice ! i love Sir Rods music in general ,and of course when Carmine was with the group it was one of Rods best years ! Keep Rocking ! Carmine ! BTW the next generation of my Cousins off spring are Rocking Long Island NY and the Upstate area one of the Grandsons has been winning contests at Bethel ( Woodstock ) ,and. has been sitting in with many of his Grandfathers current bands and getting Media Coverage etc Playing with the Stage name Vinny Sticks ! This Kid Is Good and he isn’t a Teenager yet !

I didn't know the reason for the name change. I adore Rod Stewart and so I have known about Carmine forever. I guess nobody thought about maybe Rod could introduce him using the proper name and everyone would follow and pronounce it correctly forevermore. Too easy and then we wouldn't have a story. Also it's also damn sad how he got "did dirty" in that band.

I remember Dio intro'd Vinny as 'Aaa-Pa-See' but I wasn't having it. It will always be 'A-Peace' or Carmine & Vinny can settle this once and for all and go by Smith 😁

That's funny that Rod said he couldn't remember why he fired Carmine. I remember vividly an article in an old rock magazine from 81-82 (either Circus or Hit Parader?) where Rod Stewart made a famous quote I will never forget as long as I live: "Never trust a drummer who has his own name on the front of his drum kit!"

lol, I collect coffee mugs too, I go for city cups, so usually any city you;re in you can stop at a coffee shop and they will have their city mug, I have others but those are my favorites, which is weird cuz my mother collected mugs as well and I didnt know it till about 5 years ago when I was at their vacation home where they were on display, she had began way earlier than myself she din't know how long since all the kids left but I only been in it 16 years or so? I mean when do you say you began collecting mugs, the first set you buy? the first time you put a mug away and don't drink out of it? if that's the case about 25 years ago then but I wasn't really looking to collect at that point about 16 years ago when I thought I wanna build a collection, or a larger collection... Ma still has me beat prolly 45 years for her, how long you been collecting Carmine? whoda thunk mugs would be rare or collectable? lol

@@gregrlrrlrll9129 Yes, it tells me that the very best music is like a Michelin starred meal - you don't have it for ever, but it lasts and its memory will live on forever like a cult classic and more and more people want to taste the enigma. And the worst music is like McDonalds, its mediocre crap churned out all the time (on radio) and no one gives a shit about it. Case closed.

I vividly remember walking into Sound Warehouse “Music store on FM1960” in Houston Tx, and “Blue Murder” first album was playing in the store, I asked the clerk who they were and he told me and I bought the immediately, Great album, about 3 months later Blue Murder was playing at a club in Houston “Cardis” and I was standing right against the stage, I believe the all the tickets were general admission. Idk know if this was the best drumming that Carmine did with a band, but it’s probably is the least famous outta all the bands he has played with, but then again Blue Murder was a supergroup, all the members were top notch and came from very successful bands. John Sykes “Whitesnake”, Tony Franklin “The Firm”.
