They also gave Alder the ordinary trainer theme in bw2. There is exactly 0% logic. Btw Steven was kinda like a rival/friend in this game, so this choice fits him (but I'm still dissappointed that he couldn't keep his own theme)

Steven is really powerful, you know he hits lv78 when we were all in emerald, and that sick level you can't probably find anywhere else in this game. Cynthia could be the one suppress him with various types of pokemons, but I don't think she can beat Steven, maybe she could if level up her pokemon to 75 then I'll call her the strongest. But Steven is still by far the strongest, lv 70 Rayquaza basically have no use against him, by that mean you'll have to train your own pokemon all the way to lv65 and higher to fight him, unlike fight against Cynthia, with a lv 50 or even lv 47 Dialga you can pretty much beat up elite 4 and straight to her.
So I went back and rewatched XYZ after a few years, forgetting literally everything that happened. Including Steven... Oh boy I don't remember him looking that hot i swear to god- Plus the Shiny Metagross? oH BOY _God why the hell did they make him so cute and then put him through tfing ringer in the Pokemon Adventures manga._

I still prefer Steven as a character more. There is not a moment where I can hate him at all. That's how awesome he is.

No you can’t. He is definitely in HGSS, but you don’t fight him. You have to talk to him to unlock Latios/Latias depending on the version, he’ll give you one of the Hoenn starters, and he’ll trade you a Beldum for a Forretress. Other than that, that’s it.
