And the moral of the story is that Gen 3's Elite Four is so hard that you basically need an overpowered starter to bail you out.

The post game content was missing in gen 3 tho considering gen 2 had 16 gym badges and a chance to beat the Kanto champion Red I know they fixed it with Emerald but I didn't know how to unlock the frontier brain challenges when I was little I do now but I don't have the time to do it now because it's way too much grinding

@@NihilisticSnake Red/Blue/Yellow only reused the Gym Leader theme for Lance, not for Lorelei, Bruno or Agatha where the regular trainer battle theme was used.
Did a Walrein almost tank an entire team?
They made especially sure to punish cheese-less teams this gen. To this day, I still can't tell you if a normal team at a reasonable level beats Steven. I'll probably just look at it and say, "Ah, you were using cool 'mons. They frown on that around here."
I remember fighting that Walrein. It was a bitch to take out.
I suffered alot with that walrein because its surf and ice beam was making lot damages on my manectric. And he game a sheer cold to my swampert who fainted immediately.

What's crazy about this is to this day, every one of Sidney's team was so intimidating to 9 year old me. Cacturne still to this day makes me uncomfortable to even look at. I don't know if it's nostalgia but 3 seemed like the hardest one to me, because I guess as I got older, I just realized I could steamroll everything by just making sure my teams checked the weaknesses of the e4? Like I was 20 and 24 respectively when gen 6 and 7 came out and i just blizted the entire game in like a weekend. Maybe it's nostalgia

Not an excuse for Kalos. They fill your intuitive route with Dragons, after which point you click button and reasonably expect to succeed. All of your dudes get experience for nothing, so IDK if that game ever intended a strategy on your part.
Well, gen 6 and 7 are way easier than gen 3 too
You can change the settings on the game where it doesn’t give you the option to change out your Pokemon. I always liked it that way, makes these types of battles more challenging. Also my favorite E4 battles are FR/LF

Ugh the first time I played Ruby I knew literal shit about pokemon and I could not for the life of me get to the elite 4 area. Ended up just giving up because I was using an emulator and at that time did not know how to keep my save data.
And by I knew nothing I mean I killed Groudon and had a hell of a time trying to get past the psychic gym with Blaziken's double kick lmao
Lol, I knew nothing too, I caught Groudon with a masterball and I made it learn cut. When I finally made it to the pokemon league I lost so many times and then I finally beat the champion with random pokemon of my team
Damn, I miss the old days, found my first shiny(zubat) in ruby as a kid not knowing why it's color was off, carried it with me to the very end. And stupid young me tried to catch Groudon with great balls and poke balls cuz I forgot to stock up on ultras

Recently played through ruby/sapphire and man I forgot how tough the elite 4 is because of how under leveled you are by the time you get to the elite 4

After having it above level 80 I would just give the experience share to other Pokémon that I’m trying to level up and evolve to build my Pokédex.

I just beat the elite four for the first time in my life. Was a tough one but I did it first try using hella ethers and revive/lemonade. Spent days gathering resources and training but it was worth it.

Damn, Glacia’s Walrein kicked ass. It should’ve been a no-brainer that Ice Beam was going to one-hit KO Flygon considering Ice Beam is 4 times super-effective against Flygon.

You can single handedly take the elite four down just using a lv 75 blaziken. Otherwise a level 80 Armaldo can finish the whole league and as last a level 70 or better salamance with dragon claw. This legit works I've tested many times. They can also wipe the elite four in one run if there level 90 or more.

You probably had it on easy level or you probably used a cheat code. Those elite four in gen 3 ain't easy to beat. Mayve except the first elite four. But them other three elite four no, I've struggled to beat them a few times.

I remember this was the first pokemon game i played. I had sapphire and when i saw a Solrock on skme random dude, i REALLY wanted one too. I first thought lunatone would eventually elvolve, so i trained that one untill lvl 75 or so. Then i got depressed that he didn't evolve but it was a sapphire exclusive pokemon. But damn, that lunatone really carried me throigh the elite four. So much nostalgia

Steven's Armaldo was a pain for me, since I only had my Gyarados to counter it, and Gyarados is weak to his Armaldo's Hidden Power. Metagross was easy, since I had Groudon and one shot it with Fire Blast.

I’m realizing watching all these tutorials that my Pokémon are severely underleveled, with my highest being Mightyena at 49.

Phoebe was my favorite, but she is so often overlooked! I blame the Ghost Type availability in Gen 3, I just can't find Sableye threatening.

Damn, Glacia’s Walrein kicked ass. It should’ve been a no-brainer that Ice Beam was going to 9-HP-from-one-hit KO Flygon considering Ice Beam is 4 times super-effective against Flygon. Though Crobat seems to have high Special Defense, so it was impressive that Blizzard one-hit-KO’d Crobat, so a minimum of 163 damage to Crobat! AND it one-hit KO’d Aggron with a super-effective Surf, so at least 148 damage to Aggron! Walrein swept half of your team!

Fire moves or ice moves when they use curse they end up killing themselves cursing you l. Switch out on next pokemon and curse gone. Fire works best since fire type are meant to have strong offensive attacks with a good chance of burning. So blaze kick/punch otherwise flamethrower

@@Growing-Shivam When I played ruby I had a manectric that knew bite, and so I sent him out against phoebe’s 2nd dusclops and I didn’t know that it knew earthquake at the time, and let’s just say that my manectric got sent all the way back to route 110 after it got hit with earthquake
