The thing is Kobe said he trained every FEW hours so he’d wake up at 6 train 7-9 10-12 rest, train 2-3/4 go back home eat drink relax,5-6 train relax,7-9 train relax.
i tried this few years ago before i was injured. results came in fast for sure but ur body will tear down. i have 2yr injury but now im comming back and training smarter. dont copy what other is doing. we are all unique. do on your own game. train smart
I trained 8 hours a day Sophomore yr -Senior yr first semester. My junior year was great and while I got everything to pay off but half the time I couldn’t even enjoy my athleticism due to my body being so sore. I fought through it though by the time my senior year hit I broke my leg and lost most of my mid major D1 recruitment and High Major D2 recruitment I went NAIA but sat out the first year but now I’m recovered and ready to get revenge and get where I want to go.
Actually they don’t did u watch the Kobe doc where he said he worked out 3 times a day and said no one in the nba was doing it and working out 3 times a day for 3 years while they worked out once was impossible for them to catch up to his skills set
I think that Kobe’s mental edge was the fact that he knew that nobody would work as hard as him that’s what gave him supreme confidence versus someone like Iverson who just had that confidence no matter how hard they worked so Kobe would’ve been great if he worked less. And when you follow that routine it causes you to have the external false confidence u spoke of as long as you work super hard you’ll be confident but if you rest a couple days you’ll feel like you suck but it’s best to learn to let your body rest and trust that you can go out there and perform great without worrying if you did three workouts the day before
For me, training mobility and flexibility then going to train my basketball skills one day, going to the gym on alternate days has helped get my skills up rapidly. Sleep is very important for recovery, training in incremental amounts of an 1hr to 1.5hr about 5 days a week will give more long term results than training like a mad man. I managed to get my body into game shape after being inactive for 7 months straight due to pandemic within just 23 days following this routine
It was not hard work alone that propelled MJ and Kobe to greatness. They also had amazing training and recovery teams, upbringings which catered them to become who they were as people (and to be able to face the challenges they did) as well as genetics among so many other factors. If it were hard work alone which brought them to where they were, we would have a lot more MJ's and Kobe's in the world. The best training is the training that suits you best. That means your overall needs as a player, as well as a person. This will probably be slightly or greatly different for everyone. I can confirm that this tears your body down. I used to train 6-8 hours a day and all I got were injury after another. I cut It down to 4 hours and I’ve seen dramatic improvement. Although I’d say the progression is way faster training 6-8 hours my jumpshot got way better and handles. On the downside I got jumpers knee and injured my wrist from dribbling too much and lost my vertical jump cause I was worn down. I’ve recovered from this but hey, try it but if u start to wear down stop.👍🏽
I believe that its the type of training you do that affects you your mentality before going into it kobe had such a deep love for basketball that he always went 100% while training and on top of basketball being his job further enhancing that mentality. To me the manga mentality is your endurance in how long you can give something all of your effort it may not be as hard as how love did it but if you can bring it everytime you step on the court or when you do something that requires focus you’ll always be good.
It’s true. Modern studies on athletes have shown this to be true. It’s about repetition at a high intensity over a 60-90 minute period of time to maximize skill improvement and physical gains. Even in between sets there should be one minute totally rest periods. Total days off aren’t good either. Even when you have rest days, that’s when you should be doing light skill work.
If anyone recalls Kobe quoted soon after an Championship elimination game loss against the Detroit Pistons which gave me goosebumps he says…. “.My off-season begins now.”
I tried to work like Kobe... working hours and hours every day. Now i fucked up my knees and have to take weeks/monts off :/ I learned from it... My body was not ready to work that hard and my mind also. I was literally destroyed. I think you can only work so hard when you are made for it. For example being an NBA palyer. Your Body and your Mind is better build, etc. because you started slow and worked your way up and you have all of those profesional people around you.
Thanks coach, really helped me :D because I tried kobe 6-6-6 too :D and man I was tired as fuck (sry for word) thanks ;) I am happy that someone make content like this.
Coach, what should you do if you're far behind for your age group? I am 16 and 6'5. For others, they might have the luxury of doing 1-2 hard and intense workouts a day because they have already been playing for years. For a guy like me, who hasn't played basketball a lot, and that wants to go to the big leagues, that isn't enough. I agree that the workout plan you mentioned is probably the best for the majority of players. Not for people who don't have already have years of experience and can't afford to miss out on hours. I have to study film, work out by myself, team practice, etc. So, coach what do you recommend? How do I get past this hurdle?
Well for me I work 7 hours and I’ve gotten a lot better so imma keep training like Kobe cuz I’ve been doing it for a year and I’m going into 9th and feel good so ig my genetics are good
In the video "STOP working so hard", he explained why it's too much, and not the best (not even the right) approach. I hope you watch it, and learn a lot from that video. Good luck 🍀
You're not going to need to do that much. Stick with 1-2 60-90 minute intense on court workouts per day, 4-6 days a week. If you're going to workout more days of the week, do less workouts, and if you're going to do 2 workouts a day, make them on the shorter side. Coach S. DeepGame Basketball
@@vebbie0624 You'll probably perform better if you just stick to those short, intense practice sessions. But, like anything else, the choice is up to you. Coach S. DeepGame Basketball
I think it's more important what you're training, like if you spend 6 hours a day just shooting, it would probably be less effective than 3 hours a day working on shooting, ball handling, passing, etc.
Here is the correct "hard work" video I refer to in today's talk:

Ig but it still is overworking it’s nearly the same as 5 hours train and 5 hour rest but Kobe is even getting less rest than train
