The Hero archetype is generally considered a greatly beloved character in movies. In fact, many of the most impactful movies of all time are based on The Hero’s Journey Archetype popularised by Joseph Campbell. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, The Matrix, and any superhero movie which all have the hero’s stages imbedded within the story line.
Don’t get me wrong, the hero’s journey is a crucial process of psychological development, but it is very misunderstood in today’s culture. The hero, just like any archetype has light & shadow counterparts - and if left unchecked, it can produce devastating results.

I am just happy someone feels that way too.

"And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in."

One of the most brilliant things I liked about Avengers: Infinity War is how Thanos was the actual protagonist of the film. It was his hero's journey. Thor was given a side journey because they did not want Thanos to be considered the "Hero" of the film, But it was Thanos's journey to complete in the arc of that story.

I loved this because of how you related yourself to each part and brought more of a humane aspect to the hero’s journey. You made it a lot easier to understand the concept. I’d love to see the magician archetype if you haven’t already done that.

    Wow! This quote you selected.
"The 'death' of the Hero in the life of a boy (or a man) really means that he has finally encountered his limitations.
He has met the enemy, and the enemy is himself. He has met his own dark side, his very unheroic side."

Your videos deserve much more views in my opinion man.
Campbell is NOT generally a very easy subject for most
to cover, but you do a FINE job conveying the key points
of his views in your videos.
I like how you somewhat demystify the process as
    well.
Jung and Campbell most especially, are the two many
are most tempted to put their own preferred mystical spin
on, for the sake of Theater usually, but I don't notice any
of that with your work. It's very straight-forward, and
what I'd consider true to Jung's own preference of expression
    in many senses.
I write poetry, and short fiction. Some I'd say is
pretty decent, some in need of work, and then
of course there's much of it that I just keep either
for sentimental reasons to look back on later and
map my development, or to use parts of in other
    work.
I WISH I'd have heard of Campbell, and Jung MUCH
    earlier on.
I had only attempted reading jung when in my mid-20's,
and at that time, I was kind of..perpetuating the WRONG
king of writer cliches by drinking my ass off every day
and didn't have the mental bandwith to come close to
    understanding him.
Now, at 40 (blessedly sober two years) I've been going
back over a lot of the Jung works, and I read Hero with 1,000
Faces every now and then. (I like campbells masks of god
    book series too.)
There is most definitely a wealth of knowledge to be
found in them. and in these videos.
Thanks for making the journey a bit more interesting and
    enlightening friend.

Very interesting perspective. Dude for real real ..🤘✌💜✨🦋🤗 i went thru my journeys and made out of my shadows. Yippy. For me the so called enemies in these stories are like the negative or shadow aspects as one takes things thru different perspective and to see how each one took different paths of free will. But like who chooses the light over the dark in the end. Sweet.. Dude ya. I love to incorporate them all in life. To know how to be, hot to observe others, and to stay aware of my being too best express. Kinda like a balance of them all. Cuz you need to know all too be aware. They all work beautifully insync with another. Ya

Did you ever read the heroines journey? Sometimes women over identify with the masculine before they reintegrate the feminine on their own terms, unapologetically. I'm hetero "normative" and it made sense to me.

Always a fan of your content man. I’m turning 20 soon and this concept of the archetypes is very relatable. I have many times gotten stuck in the trap of thinking I know enough, thinking I have everything I need for perfection in life. But man has life shown me wrong every single time. When I let my happiness be defined by my boyish ego I always end up getting knocked back down eventually. Thinking I was the man kept me stuck being a little boy deep down. Still have a lot to learn and I’m ready to face the challenges, and I love seeing content like this to help me out !

When I was a boy I believed in superheroes
Superman put on his cloak and became terribly brave
    and flew towards the sun
but the light of the sun cracks the troll
    The sun melts Icarus' wings
    Superman is not brave.
    It's much braver
    to dare to be
    Clark Kent

    • @yourmatetom
      @yourmatetom 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

MENTALISM does not imply solipsism. Solipsism is a mental disorder. There is always a polarity to experience, the relative and absolute. Meaning there is an objective reality. Everything is NOT subjective.

    • @noonesherem8782
      @noonesherem8782 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@yourmatetom thank you for replying dude. I cant tell you how much that helps. I have struggled with existential thoughts and the philosophy of solipsism has made me extremely anxious for the past year or so, and made worse by watching channels such as actualized.org.

great fathers are more akin to the king archetype. Warriors in and of itself is actually very emotionally detached and only really cares about the mission at hand.
