    09:50 Webb Street is to be added to the list. I think it will tie in when they finally add East Pakenham Station.

      I don’t know whether any streets still get added before all planned jobs are completed. If not, Webb St I suppose will still be there until at least 2025. Maybe somebody else has some ideas.

    Cool video! I haven’t been on a Siemens train but after covid-19 I may come down to Melbourne and give them a try!

      I was surprised when my driver told me that the XTrapolis don’t even have air springs! So Siemens must be smother.
      I’m taking the chance on no Covid relapse and will be down there in January - hopefully!

      @@tressteleg1 I was surprised at first when I realised that Xtrapolis trains don’t have air springs! It must be different when it comes to a smooth ride which must makes Siemens more smooth which is efficient for those who are standing or even sitting

      Don’t overlook the Comeng trains which have great gear sounds as they won’t be around forever.

    • @tressteleg1
      @tressteleg1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes a trench for road or rail, sometimes a road bridge over rail but most frequently rail over road, probably because most road bridges

    • @tressteleg1
      @tressteleg1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of sales talk for a train which is only one carriage longer and one less row of seating - more cattle standing space.

    Assume all the new signals are to reduce the size of the sections and provide less headway between trains and thus increasing the number of trains that can be run at any one point in time.
    Probably easier and cheaper then retrofitting ATP to all the older stock across the network

    • @tressteleg1
      @tressteleg1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dandenong was the end of Melbourne suburbia so the signals were just enough for country trains. There are obviously more new signals than there were old ones so obviously this will give provision for a more frequent service.

      Automatic Train Protection, first used in Britain I think. Nowadays I think it usually involves signals in the cab rather than lineside.

    0:30 there are two clear signals. Who is the one on the right for? Is seems like it should be for the other track but that would be impossible because another train is coming the other way.

    • @tressteleg1
      @tressteleg1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you go back several seconds, you will see that the usual signal on the left is partly obstructed by the fence and other clutter.
      Now go forward right to those signals. You will see that the left one is numbered, as expected, 704 but the right signal says DNG which is the code for Dandenong. Look very carefully below that and you will see a tiny 704. I strongly believe that the right signal is a ‘Co-actor’ (exact copy) of the left signal to give drivers a lot more warning about what it says. If you have not seen this before, it may help you.
