I'm so glad I found your page. I want to start felting and I have no clue where you'd start. This tool tutorial really helped. I subscribed to you and will enjoy your how too videos. Thank you so much
Hi Philippa! I realize you've probably figured this out by now, but I just got the same tool you have that you can't open. You open it by twisting the longer part to remove the needles! Your videos are so helpful. I'm just starting to needle felt and appreciate all the great advice you give out. :)
Hi, unfortunately not, this one doesn't open, we have really tried that and I've had several other people with the same issue, the pink clover pen is a safer bet. Glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for watching ❣️ x
Philippa, thanks for this video. I wish I'd found it before I ordered needles. LOL But I don't think I'd have done differently as I found helpful info on Etsy after watching another video in which you gave the names of a couple of your favorite places to buy needles. As with each of your videos that I've seen, great job! Very helpful info and so clear. I appreciate being able to hear from someone with experience.
Thank you, I started the videos to make short, precise and useful hints and tips, obviously I do longer videos too but sometimes all you need is a few pointers, hope you are enjoying the craft and thanks for watching xx
Great video, Im a beginner and only used a ooupld of needles but im guessing this is why my needle starts off being great but then feels like its stopped working the nearer I get to the end. After only 3 hours of needling. Obvisouly I need to use some finer ones. Will visit your shop and see what I can buy. Thanks Anne
I've recently stumbled upon needle felted balls, and I got curious to see how they were made. Low and behold...😃 there is a world out there of felting. Amazing! I've done arts and crafts all my life. Ashamed I've never heard of this before. Thank you, for this video because I now am eager to learn this craft. Keep posting videos. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😃😃😃
Hi Philippa! I've loved your videos that have answered my beginner's questions. I'm wondering about needles, how you can tell what they are, once you have them outside of the original packaging? I got several kinds from different kits and those that have a coloured tip are easily identified. But those that don't, how can you tell what type and size they are? I don't see any kind of marking on them... 🙏🙏🙏 It's soon Easter time and I want to show some friends how to make little Easter eggs 🐰🐤
Hello! I bought this beginner kit that came with a set of needles but i dont know what sizes they are. I think they may be triangular ones but I sorted them and theres large tall ones, short smaller ones, and some in the middle. Is there any way to know their sizes?
It's very difficult unless they are colour coded. You can see the shape but the thinner the needle looks the higher the gauge, just try them all out and see which one you like. A thicker needle will be better for starting projects. Heidifeathers does colour codes on her needles which really helps, thanks for watching x
Back to needle felting after eye problems. Thanks for all your help! Question: I make 3d Highland Coos and have been lucky to be selling them. I use pipe cleaners instead of armature for the legs. In your opinion, should I use just 2 pieces for 4 kegs, or felt 4 into sides of the coo?
They should do yes but this one really doesn't, I've tired everything and I'm not the first, Clover make is just the safest to avoid this fake copy I have x
Hi Philippa, I live in Australia. I see the links are only for UK or US Amazon. Just wondering if you have any suggestions for Australian followers on where to buy wools and needles, etc? Rebecca
I'm very sorry, I am not familiar with where to purchase in Australia. I only like to recommend where I know or have shopped before. I would hope you have a fairly good market, maybe New Zealand is better but that would still cost quite a bit in shipping, sorry I can't help further x
I just found you , very helpful, I’m a mixed media crafter , new to this craft loving it, I Subscribe today , I would like a few ideas on where to get the products you use. I have collected a fair amount of wool mainly not carded and my needles off internet are marked small med large. I would like to know where to get carded wool And more variety needles please. Plus I missed the info on the lovely felt mat Annie’s something.
Hi Linda, I'm going to do a video answering all your questions hopefully tomorrow so watch this space, I'm glad you've found my videos helpful, thanks for watching x
Hi, I bought some needles on Amazon, but the package didn't come with a guide to the sizes. I've noticed that red, blue, and green seem to be standard colours used to distinguish one size from another within a package of multiple needles. Just wondering if each of these colours represents a specific size across the board? For example, are all needles with a blue tip the same size, regardless of where I buy them?
I'm afraid not, that would really help things, check the listing as it might be in the description otherwise you might have to contact the seller. Also you can work out the needles through feel when felting, lower gauge (thicker) needle will have more resistance x
That is so beautiful. I understand most of what you were doing i just wish the taturial was a bit longer. I was confused about how you felted around the eyes. 🤔❤
Whereas other people like myself deeply appreciate that she kept this video to one topic and less than 5 minutes long. Philippa has a ton of videos on other topics and she has others still that are more "complete" guides for beginners; this video is precisely the length it should be to cover the needles (which is just what the title of the video says!). Thanks, Philippa!
I loved watching this your talent is so amazing
Thank you! That's very kind x
I really appreciate your videos, it feels so much easier getting started with this and I've been wanting to try it for years.
Great to have you here and I hope you enjoy it x

Thanks, yes, so much easier with finer needles as you progress, you will feel the resistance and your felt becomes firmer xx
I really enjoy and appreciate your tutorial videos, thank you for sharing your skill and knowledge.
No probs, I love making the video's and try to answer the questions I had as a beginner. Thank you for making such a lovely comment, happy felting x

I would probably felt all four legs and add but honestly do whatever you are most comfortable with and what works for you xx
That's what I've been doing! Thank you so much. Is there a way I can send you a photo of my coo? I'd love you to see her.
You can dm on Instagram x
Thank You soooo much 🤗
No problem x
The blue pen tool you have does open. It does not pull off, it unscrews. I have the same one.

@@feltsbyphilippa agree! Clover quality is far better for not much more.

What about sewing needles 🤔 they might work? Cuz i don’t have those needles and it’s gonna take me awhile to find it. What do you think?
They won't work at all, lots of felting needles on Amazon x

Please do a master class on felting a horse.
I will do in time, it will take me a while to organise but eventually it will be done, thanks for asking and watching x
@@feltsbyphilippa Thank you for the channel
All this felting of pictures and cute animals. Where is making hats, gloves, and shoes/slippers?
That would be wet felting, not needle felting x
How many rupees for only one needle
I'm not sure, it's about one British pound for just 1 needle, you can get them cheaper x
