    My dear cat was killed several days ago, and I've came across a youtube video where a person felts pets of people. Unfortunately, they are completely booked out, and so thanks to your inspiring videos, I've decided to try and felt my late cat myself.
    Thank you for the great videos. They really help me start with felting.❤

    Hi Philippa, another great video. Thank you. I really wish I had discovered needle felting 6 or 8 months ago when there was more time. Right now, with Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas not long after that I'm really busy helping a grandson make gifts for his siblings; so not much time for new things right now. However, I'm so glad I found your videos. I'm not ready for armature yet but at least now I have an idea of how it is done. THANK YOU!!!

      Thank you but all it is is practice and time, I've been doing this for over 5 years and you improve with every felt, choose good tutorials to improve your skills and only felt things you are passionate about. Keep your first felt and then after a year compare it, you always improve but don't realise it xx

    Thank you so much. I am just starting felting and am scared to death regarding armatures I’ve read a great deal about using them. I watched your video and feel much better. You have a wonderful way of teaching and making one feel very at easy about trying something new.

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brilliant because that's how I felt in the beginning and it's not that bad, practice really helps and you just have to do it, whatever happens your piece will be stronger than without an armature. Thank you so much for your comment and for watching. I hope to do a video on problems with armature and how to solve them but it will be in about 4 weeks, lots more video's before then x.

    Just found your videos tonight because I’m thinking about trying needle felting.
    I watched lots of different people’s videos & I have to tell you that you do a fantastic job of explaining things! The speed at which you teach things is perfect. I’m excited to start now after finding you & your page!! One question about this video in particular… When you were making the sheep’s leg I was wondering- are you trying to avoid hitting the wire, or do you just go for it and not worry about the wire?

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, good to have you here and I hope you enjoy needle felting if you do try it. When felting around wire I do just go for it but I hold the needle lightly in my hand so it's more likely to bounce off the wire and generally I start with a thicker needle (36) and progress to a finer one if needed, thanks so much for watching ❣️

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, absolutely, sometimes I find the polyester stuff can create a bumpy surface if it is too close to the top but use up what you can if it is further in x

    Question: I’m making a felted cat standing on one paw, but it’s going to be very top heavy. Is there a wooden stand (preferably circular and smaller in size) you’d recommend? Also, would i need a thicker wire to keep it together? Is it even doable? Do you have any other tips you’d recommend or videos?
    PS: I love your videos and you inspired me to start felting! Ive been doing it a while now but i still go to your channel for help sometimes haha. I also love how involved you are!

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much, glad my channel helps, I used a circular wooden stand off amazon for my horse head but you have to buy them in packs of five I think, go quite thick as it will be heavier. Use a thicker wire, about 1.6mm galvanised, that will be stronger, you don't double it up like most of my armatures, use it single. I don't do cats but I am sure there are some good TH-camrs out there, hope it goes well, sounds like a fantastic creation! Xx

    Hi. May I ask you a question. Would needle felting be suitable for a child's toy? I am aware of safety eyes and such but these are obviously unsuitable for a needle felted toy, so what would you suggest I use instead. But would the toy be strong enough for play considering that I won't be able to use an armature. What do you think? Is there a way?

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, it's a commonly asked question and personally I feel anything felted is not for children or animals (people make cat toys alot). It can be pulled apart and has eyes and wire, it definitely can't be sold as a children's toy as it would never pass European CE testing and I wouldn't be covered on my insurance. I advised against it and have warnings with all my items I sell. With older children it's going to be parental choice/guidance xx

Robin's etc..question would you sell me a bare bird...I have diagrams of how they should look...but I believe it would be easier if I had the actual form....I don't want to make bird with it but use it as an example...also would love to have a robin leg to use the same way....could/would you sell me these items?

    With the wire frames, does that make the animals posable? Or would moving the limbs cause the wool to loosen and un-felt?

    • @feltsbyphilippa
      @feltsbyphilippa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you can move then into whatever position you want, it's fine. I would felt a bit, put in position and then felt firm. I wouldn't sell a piece as posable though as repeated movement eventually could cause the wire to break but it's fine for say 20 repositions or so. Jointed limbs would work best for something you want to move alot x
