    Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup th-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

    I currently use 2, 12ft Carnage 2 rods, I've never been to the ocean, would like to one day, but other than that, they do amazingly well, have caught pretty big fish with them (normally catfish). Fishing from the bank, really helps cast out pretty far with a 4-6oz weight.

    Hey,
    Great video I’ve been watching your videos these past few days (subscribed and liked). This week will be my first time going to montauk to fish with my girlfriend. I am super excited I ordered all the surf gear - buck tails, fishing lines etc... that you have in your description, it was super helpful. I also bought a huge cooler to bring some cold drinks and maybe bring back a few fish to eat, I will do 99% catch and release. Quick question, Would I look like a noob if the pro fisherman see me with a cooler? hahah.
    Thanks for helping out the newbies!

    So got the 9ft paired with a bg 3500 30lb braid and now a 10ft with penn battle 6000 with 50lb braid. 9ft for smaller lures like 4.5-5inch spooks and hydro pencils along side with deadly dicks upto 2oz. Then the 10ft will be used with the doc 9inch lure(3.5oz), bucktails 1.5oz-4oz and sp minnow and yozuri long cast lures and bigger lures. But the penn prevails are truly great and wonderful. As long as you know how the rods work properly and you take car of them and don't abuse them same for any rod.

    Been debating about getting a surf rod but I’m stuck since I’m new to fishing and still don’t quite understand the equipment. I want to catch small baitfish like pacific mackerel and jacksmelts but occasionally catch bigger fish as well. Would the prevail for example be capable of reeling in a decent size fish? What would you recommend? Love your videos by the way!

      100%. I’ve reeled in 3 27 inch striped bass at once, pulling in opposite directions, in some insane 6 foot surf. It’ll do just fine! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

      I'm stuck between the 9ft prevail or the 10ft to throw all my lures- sp minnows, bucktail jigs, spooks, and tons. I love the adrenaline of light gear for fishing for larger fish. And lighter overall fishing. I would be using a 3500 daiwa bg with 30lb braid and would go down to 20lb and 50lb mono leader but just wanted some input if yall thinks it's crazy if especially silly If I hook into a 35,45, or 50lber on the 9ft would it be capable to handle it if reel is adjusted right or should I just go up to the 10ft? Like i said most lures I'd be throwing for my comfort and dor my height and abilities and capabilities I think 9ft would be better for me but just want some assurance lol.

    • @caperjim
      @caperjim 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndyOutdoorsChannel I use my 9 foot prevail to throw sp minnows and other lures. I am confident it will handle 50+ inch fish. Id be more worried over the line snapping or hook/split ring bending out than the rod failing.
      I did buy a heavier 10 foot prevail and i find it too heavy for lures. I use it for bait. Even for bait id rather the 9 foot.

    • @GetReelBassFishing

      9 foot would be a good rod. I prefer a 10’ in those situations that way I have more length for casting, and ability to power horse a fish out from the structure. I’ve been fishing the St Croix Seage 10’ MMF a lot the last 2 years and it’s pulled in some great sized fish for me. Super light weight, durable, strong and fun to fish. I’ll link it below. But also, if you want to go with some thing a little bit less expensive, just look for something that’s a medium fast, or medium heavy fast, that way you have the ability to pull a fish out from rubbing against structure in the moving water under the bridges. amzn.to/3Rda0Xg

    Get a serious surf fishing setup, these are great options for a beginner but you can’t buy cheap surf gear. There are no deals in this sport. Things are expensive for a reason.

    Learn to build your own rods and use conventioinal reels. Spinners with braid is for Googans.
