Right? It's almost like people think it's physically possible for a group of "4000+" people to travel ~1000 miles in less than 3 weeks by foot.
In reality, it'd take them anywhere from 350-450 hours of straight walking to cover that distance... Depending on their average rate of travel. I'm assuming it's no more than 3mph with an average around 2.2-2.5mph considering there are old people and kids. That translates into anywhere from 17-24 miles covered each day assuming they walk for 8 hours/day. So, now you're looking at a BASELINE MINIMUM, it gets no faster, of 43 days travel time at 8hr/day of walking. A "maximum" of 56, assuming nothing happens to the logistical chain forcing a stop....
[edit] And that's only half the journey.. So we're looking at 86 days minimum to complete the full trip from the far side of Guatemala (where they allegedly departed from on Oct 12) to the US border with the path they've taken... (I don't know why they didn't skirt the coast as it takes about 1000 miles off the trip...)

As a retired military person I'm appalled that Trump did this. I'm glad I retired just before he became Commander in Chief. I was also in Intelligence and had a high level clearance. Trump couldn't even get a very basic security clearance if he was in the military.

If you are born there, regardless of whether or not any of your parents are citizens, you were automatically a citizen. And if.you were born somewhere else, as long as one of your parents were Irish, you're Irish.
Ireland changed it in 2005. They got rid of the first part. Now, it's only the second part: One of your parents has to be Irish, regardless of where you were born.
The US has it where you're automatically a US citizen if you're born here, even if your parents were not citizens. Technically, a French couple could come here just vacation, have their child be born, and it's a US citizen.Even if the French couple had no intention of ever actually.moving here or becoming a resident.
It would be like if you went to....say....China to tour the Great Wall and other places for like a 2 week vacation , and your wife ended up giving birth while in China on the last day of the trip. The baby would automatically be a Chinese citizen, even though youre going to come back home in a day, and have no intention of ever going back to China.

It really grosses me out when I say this, but I do agree with Trump. The purpose of the 14th amendment is technically no longer valid. It's entire purpose was to ensure former slaves were guaranteed citizenship. Now, it's just a bit of an awkward law.

It's not the military's place to take a political position. Individually, the members of the military can hold they're own political views but they can't/shouldn't tie them to the uniform. Unless Trump order's them to indiscriminately massacre civilians they're not going to speak out against him in public (at least I hope they would if Trump told them to do that) and nor should they.
They're doing it by ignoring almost everything he says. Or don't you recall he ordered a military parade in front of the white house that never happened?
