A while back when the cover broke on my caravan water connection point, from our local caravan dealer I bought a complete replacement cover the dealer also sold enough sealant strip for the job, saving buy a complete box.
I found using that mastic tape was a pain when screwing screws through it as it tended to twist the tape around the screw and difficult to put holes in.
Yes we buy in bulk so it's branded as the 221, but the normal is 521 or 522, it's what the links take you too, and says about its the same as the 221. 👍
I use the Adiseal range of products of sealant adhesives can even be used under water the clear is clear not opaque and it's really strong, check out the TH-cam videos where it out performs all the competition and it not a bad price either.
That 'Sticks Like 5h1t' stuff is useless, used it on a Fiamma bike rail, 12 months later it had disintegrated due to UV/weather effects. Soudal Butyrub is great as it skins but doesn't fully set so works where there are flexible joints.
...or don't use any sealant, like you did after fitting my Awning light on the swift I bought from you. Yep no sealant in sight (Photo of light fitting with geo location at your sales site to prove) 🙄
We did a video on the swift awning light. Just the hole gets Sealant inside. They have a black tape around the actual light itself. You can put a bit over the top just to make sure but they don't normally have that.
@@thecaravanplace Mick told me on collection about the awning light and, some people don't even bother sealing the outside... I said funny that as you have not bothered either, did not believe me until I showed him the photo... This was after several issues you were supposed to look at for me when I bought the caravan including mystery Tyron bands (I have in writing now that you did fit them back in when changing the tyres, so should I have a blow out the next few years and damage the caravan the bill will be arriving with you if the bands are not fitted), the radio that was just thrown in loose in the wrong cage as a replacement (the faulty one you moved to another swift caravan, after taking 'this' one from it - so could not swap it back over on the day)... along with several other issues. It's been 3 months now so I can soon publish my review with images, emails, etc. Its a shame I used to like the videos you provide, that's what made me travel to buy the caravan from you in the first place, can't watch them so easily now (just stumbled across this one about sealant) just makes my blood boil, the buying experience spending £20k cash with you was dreadful, will not be coming back.
Thanks for this I knew you had a discount as the radio wasn't the original, but unaware of any other issue's. I remember Mick wasn't sure if your van had Tyrone bands, but when checked it had, but I'm not aware of any problems. I will send you an email and let me know of any issues, as you say if your nearing the end of your warranty, we need to put any issues right?
Grest video, thank you for sharing ❤
Useful information, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!👍
Defo need to see that window seal replacement as mine has got damp again after being repaired by a dealer supposedly, I want to do it my self
Your videos are always helpful
Great 👍
"Sticks Like" is amazing stuff. Use it to mend a broken hinge on my battery box and also to fit a length of awning channel to my old Trigano pop top.
Yes we have found it very good 👍

I have used Puraflex by Everbuild recently to bond a bracket support between bulk head and side wall, awesome stuff.
Will have to try 👍
Very good. I'm just in the process of buying my first van. And I'm in no doubt there'll be problems down line. Hopefully nothing too major 🙏

Dip the end of each screw into white spirit, and that stops the sealant strip wrapping itself around the screw.
Thought you said shouldn't have had that pee in the shower this morning lol cracking podcast as usual Mark nice one
I did that too. 🤣🤣🤣
@@thecaravanplace 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Would the tape be ok for sealing the inner wheel box to the outer skin of caravan
Yes it will do the job, most were fitted like that from manufactur originally. 👍
I had to replace a skylight on my coachman caravan, i used stixall from Toolstation, seems to have done the job....
I thought the Sikaflex 522 was the one designed specifically for caravans and motorhomes - it’s the one I use.

522 superseded 221 & 521 I believe.

I'm using this on our lorry build so will update with results soon 👍

Use CT1 better than anything mentioned
Not used this but have seen it 👍
you forgot to say with the tape you have to take the rail off and clean down before applying I think
Yes this is correct 👍
