Oh dear Mark, you have made me laugh this morning, as soon as you mentioned refilling gas bottles I just knew you would have all the "holier than thou" and the curtain twitchers, you know the type, come down on you like a ton of bricks😂
Well said about the pressure washing! The amount of people I see on my regular storage sites blowing the dirt away! Then wondering when they get their next service why they have Damp or water Ingress.Yes Calor are starting to continue the little bottles. If your a stockist you should have an email.
The small Calor 2.5kg are being brought back into circulation. I did read an official statement somewhere ( can’t remember where the link is ) stating due to listening to customer feedback.
Yes, it seems something was said, but now it's gone or awaiting a further update. It seems that what they are saying at present, is there are bottles still available in circulation, but they are discontinued at this very moment in time.
I had an interesting conversation when I went to refill my two SafeFill bottles at a petrol station recently. The member of staff behind the counter said they'd been told by managers not to challenge gypsies/travellers when they fill their Calor Gas bottles there, despite it being illegal! It's definitely going on but only the law abiding miss out and pay through the nose, as is usually the case.
I've seen a calor gas bottle blow and it's not a pretty site. You should name and shame the filling station as it's putting all it's customers at risk!
Hi I was going to buy a swift caravan, but have been put off by people saying that the panoramic window have a lot of problems with cracking and leaks have you found this the case thanks David
It's a very small issue, I would say roughly 1 or 2 % that we see have had this happen, so it's very very small, but it can happen. I wouldn't not buy a swift because of this, but being aware of this and looking out for it, is important. 👍
Had problem with one on a coachman 460/2 I’m told they will be a problem with most caravans they do not seal them properly at manufactory level and due to the stress of moving on A frame it’s a future big problem It’s cost me dearly !!
Our van panoramic window sprung a leak and had to go back to the factory to be reglued . We took our van to France it was 44 C and it distorted the rubber seal around the panoramic window plus every time it went over a bump another bit fell off it was a pile of ???
They have updated the book as time has passed, so mostly up to date and very handy, I will cover more of the book if u wanted to get an idea of what's in it. 👍
Fantastic blog mark I have my caravan on the drive with electric hook up do I need to switch on the charger or anything else to change my battery cheers
Hi Tony, battery charger on but not always, I would turn it on for a few days then run the battery down with lights etc then recharge back up, doing this every 3-4 weeks will keep the battery in good condition.
Refilling Calor gas bottles at an Auto-fill IS a BIG no-no can't believe you just said that, No wonder I get refused to fill my SAFEFILL gas bottles if people are trying to fill non-refillable gas bottles, and to hear that from a Caravan dealer ??
Yes completely illegal to refill calor gas bottles, and it shouldn't be done. Unfortunately I know of 2 gas refill stations that have an adaptor and they will refill bottles for anyone. I'm not condoning this, it's just a fact that it happens and it's the refill stations that are doing it.
I thought you talked a lot of sense till you told people to refill there small red bottles up at stations. First against the law next very dangerous next if I found anyone doing it I would stop them maybe all due to you telling people to try refilling them. Please correct at next filming.
Before I say anything about it I know nothing of the law you speak of, we have different bottles we swap. That said, I would think if the filling station are providing the correct fitting for the type of bottle, then they will have hopefilly considered the law, etc. Unless, of course, it is a universal fitting.
@@davidlewins4631 No a Calor bottle has no air vent as you pump gas in air inside is compressed as it can’t get out and bottle can explode in front of you taking your head off.
Thanks Colin, I'm not condoning this as it is illegal, but I have seen at least 2 auto gas refill points doing this. Not the customers but the actual auto gas station, using there own adaptor and refilling bottles. I'm just pointing out the fact that it happens and I'm sure a lot of people do it themselves. It is illegal and it can be dangerous.
Thank you..
Enjoy your day All
You too!

I can only point out the fact it happens. 🙈🙈
My mate of many years is dead because he decanted gas once too often and it exploded ,So can be very dangerous
Dangerous, illegal, and really not worth the risk of not only killing yourself, but those around you. You can buy bottles that you can legally refill.

OMG pressure washer on a caravan, must have been a Friday afternoon inclusion in the Haynes manual editors lol. Great tips Mark and Co 😀😀
Thanks for your comments 👍

by us on the wirral they have started doing the little bottles again
Nice to hear of specific areas with them 👍
We weighed a full one & then our first empty one.
Another great way to check the bottle 👍
I do the exact same thing. Simple and effective method 👍🏻
A small propane bottle is essential for roof repairs.
Yes good point.
I love it when you wind up the nasal talking beards. 🤣🤣

The Haynes Caravan book was released 2009, is there anything outdated before I buy?

CALOR GAS SHOCK???? Whey have had to resort to click bait Mark, it's not necessary on your channel.

I've been refilling mine for years with no problems

Expensive trauma tool to check gas content, a kettle of boiling water poured down the side of the bottle will show how much gas left
Another great way to check 👍
If you’ve gone to the trouble of removing gas bottle. Best to weight it, bottle has a net/empty weight stamped on it. The extra weight is the gas.
