Really in character for Connor to just resign himself to his fate and take minimal efforts to survive.
Lando's mom has a spear... how many people in Lando's life has a spear??
Andons and spears just go hand in hand, you know?
My mind also immediately jumped to gramps's spear story ð (I wish they both would still work at Connor's workplace ðĒthough I understand why they don't)
@@Blex_040 True but they both look and sound happier, and that's a plus in my book.
If he had a nickel for every person who owned a spear, he'd have two, which is not a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
Old people and their spear trends...
They actually skipped their gamer supps sponsor to avoid talking about food these people are insane.
Holy
"it tastes bluer than that" is an amazing statement
Them saying they thought Oppenheimer was just fine and immediately following it up by saying they both thought Einstein was a 1600's candlelit alchemist type is so incredibly funny
16:58 Very nice of Connor to keep this part a secret from Lando for over a year so his reaction could be on episode 3 of The Best In Jest
I can't believe that Connor invented "Discord Kitten".
The black and white, gold and silver outfit coordination goes hard ngl
Everybody can grow tired of video games or anime. Itâs normal to feel burnt out, especially when geek culture has been your literal job for years. Now you have new interests that excite you, and that is good! I wouldnât worry about it and just continue enjoying life. Youâll either develop a new relationship with games and anime over time, or you will find a refreshed interest in the future.
Days passed without Prof mentioning his primal side: 0
i normally like to watch the whole video before making a comment, but like. dude. these two have the wildest fuckin interactions with the public. it makes me feel like iâve been lucky so far lol.
How is the "In Jest/Ingest" podcast already over the limit on food stories LMAO
them fighting not to use words related to food im dying
lando's face 33:10 when he realizes ðð
There is an unintentionally funny moment halfway into this where you get to see both of their autopilots kick on and they explain to the viewers in chat who just tuned into stream what the food bit is... on their prerecorded podcast. It was just so funny to me when I realized what they were unintentionally doing.
I think there's something to the idea that once you really enjoy your life outside video games, they lose the appeal of escapism. That said, the effect may have been exacerbated by having a job where you have to play videogames for others' entertainment.
the idea of being too introverted and scared of bothering someone to speak up during uncomfortable situations is WAY too relatable LMAO. connor was truly having his little detective arc in that movie theater... idk what it says about me if i thought to myself ''oh yeah, i would've also done the same'' while i was listening to him explain it all, though...
great episode, this might be my favorite one so far! i feel like these just get funnier and funnier, but i'm begging you: never stop talking about food, i NEED those fruit reviews from connor. who knows what kind of berry he'll end up having next...
That's the most relatable thing ever, when you're getting tired of a song and you want to skip it but then realize that it's not actually on your phone
'Connor is a kind soul'
also Connor: manipulating theatre guy into blowing everyone up
i'm injesting so hard rn
Lando's mom best have asked Randon what spear to get, he's the expert after all.
I was just thinking that too ðĪĢ
That movie experience story is what cemented my firm trust in Connor's detective instincts. The proof is clearly there and ever since its been one of his noticeable strengths. I was glad to hear Lando's POV of the story too and I am glad everything worked out in that horrific situation. That being said I haven't been to a theatre much because of the loudness and the jump scares too. For me seeing movies as a watch along or as a comfort has become my thing now. God, I lost it when the two of you started laughing at your attempts to self-censor after not wanting to mention anything food related. I couldn't stop laughing either.
Claymation was my childhood too. Pingu, Wallace and Grommit and Rudolph etc. I thought they were really novel and the stories were captivating. I honestly got into the souls excitement from Connor back when he played it in the "Chaos" era. Seeing his passion and the art style/symphonic scores then made me excited to experience more of the franchise. Now I want to watch it more and more alongside you all and continue that journey! I even tried DS Remastered on the Switch. I understand how satisfying it can be. That being said I completely understand being on the cusp of being normal and geeky because of age. Touching grass/fitness arc really changes us somehow.
The things I used to like just aren't the same anymore, then I feel guilty, but I realize from listening to you all that it is normal. I can see why people open up to the two of you readily as you both are good listeners and warm. It helps to bring out our true selves too, un-apologizingly so. It's freeing. Thanks guys!!
Landon, your mom likes to go camping, buys a spear, and has an immensely joyous expression holding said spear...
Are you sure she's not green and buff as well? Maybe she likes riding bikes?
If so, thats not your mom, thats Randon! (Or your mom has been Randon all along!)
Lando's mom is Randon from another timeline.
Minor correction on the "blue raspberry" bit - although yes, it's manufactured from multiple different flavors, the flavor it's *trying* to be is the flavor of a "black raspberry", which *are* raspberries. I grow some for myself and the flavor between the two is almost spot on too, so if you want raspberries that taste like candy, grow black raspberries.
The reason why they don't just use black raspberries to get the flavor (and why you don't see them in stores) is because black raspberry plants are very vulnerable to disease, so it's very difficult to grow them on a large scale, especially the kind needed for mass production in candy.
"If we blew up, nobody would have been mad at me, we are already dead" I see we have the same thought process AHAHAHAH
31:12 "Did you just talk about food?"
28:10 fun fact: Only a certain percentage of people have the muscle to close their ears. It's called the tensor tympani. So some people are probably confused by this part of the conversation. Usually when you flex this muscle you hear a low rumble.
I can do that.
Love the show! I just found this channel and have been getting caught up since last night.
I'd like to preface this next part by saying that I don't know anything about running one of these, so feel free to completely ignore everything I'm about to say.
Having said that, I've noticed that the camera usually just cuts back and forth between the 2 close-ups throughout the show rather than making more use of the full angle from the very beginning seconds of this episode. It may be nice to use that full angle a little more, then use the close-ups for specific story/reaction moments or something. It seems like a shame to not be able to see the full set behind you both more often, it's really nice.
One other thing I thought about while watching episode 2 was that it may be nice to show Producer's search results on-screen between you guys every now and then. That way we could see/read with him. The reason I thought of this was because on the last episode, the clown one, sometime after Producer read the clown article Lando mentioned that the clown on the computer screen was still staring at him freaking him out and I thought "Damn, I wish it would have shown what was staring at him." You could do something like putting the article/search result in the middle and utilize the 2 close-ups on either side.
At the end of the day, I'm just the random person that's watching these at midnight on a Wednesday because I've lost control of my life, but I figured I'd leave the comments. Again, love the show!
Some actual good ideas. Nice man.
The theatre story, Connor melting quietly down and Reese being all , "It's fine." Nooooooo . Poor Lando . these two brothers man lol .
(unrelated side note, I wasn't sure how to spell "Reese", so I googled Connor and Reese and ... did your parents name you guys after the Terminator films? )
Fantastic episode, can't wait for the next one!
Trying to avoid food talk:
26:00 - 27:18
31:18
32:37 - 33:08
I have tears on my face and my abs hurt. Best episode yet.
So what l have learnt this week is that Connor has resigned himself to his fate at least twice through inaction. Once in the cinema with a potentially crazy Oppenheimer man and another time at the bar with a potentially crazy BDSM man.
The coordinating outfits ayo...
Profussy looks so good in that white shirt and necklace though damn
I clicked on this randomly expecting to leave after 3 mins but I ended up staying for the whole ep.
"This episode is gonna be unwatchable" Nah, that whole bit was funny asf
The whole food -bit was so funny. It's great to hear you laugh!
The food section had me in tears. Thanks for the hilarious episode guys!
There's actually a real reason that Dark Souls/Elden Ring Lore is structured that way. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the one responsible for the direction of these games, grew up playing untranslated games and reading untranslated books, and with his limited understanding of English he pieced together what was going on as best he could. As he grew older and learned better English, nothing really replicated that feeling. The lore and stories of these games are designed to emulate that experience, and I'd say they do a pretty good job.
Most unhinged way to answer the viewer questions this week lmaoo
The anti-food laughs were making me cry oml ððð
I'm so glad Cain is there to fact check them on stuff like the Jolly Rancher flavor being Blue Raspberry not Blueberry.
I can relate to the "getting too old for anime and video games" feeling; although I think people change and so do their interests as they grow, so maybe it's that I've outgrown those interests, but it's also possible it's just a lull and I just haven't found the next thing I like.
Connor followed the guy to the bathroom and told him to create a disturbance so that he didn't have to watch the rest of the movie. Love the outfits this podcast, you guys look very nice
I really expected the intro bit to be that Connor was the squatter.. so when I heard "discord kitten".. well, jarring to say the least.
When watching this, I thought the Oppenheimer story was gonna be the answer to my question, but the BDSM Brit took the cake, holy shit.
15:01 Connor has no survival skills at all ð. Me and my friends woulda been out of the theatre from that moment. HELL nah-
50% of this podcast is yâall laughing, yet this might be the best episode so far ð.
55:50 Thatâs such a normie anime. You proved everyoneâs point lmaooo
1:06:44 Why does Lando sound like heâs trying to convince Connor ðð
1:11:38 Starting to think you went home with that man at the barâĶ
47:32 I appreciate Connor referencing Blow Me Away
hearing that song is still one of my favorite moments in Halo 2
The games anime burnout sounds like what happens when you hypothetically have a more flexible schedule and you just dont want to play/watch them. I've had times in my life with nothing going on job wise, and I couldn't be bothered with playing a game.
But the minute my time became more limited, I got the joy back.
100/10 episode this time around, I was about losing it by the end of it. The laughs were horrendously contagious while you two were trying to dodge talking about food yet kept rolling back into analogies and phrases! Real good time laughing alongside you!
Lando talking about his mom getting a spear and feeling happy about it was kind of relatable to me in a way because my hometown has this festival every few years celebrating our history and as a kid I owned some wooden weapons - a bow and swords specifically and it was the coolest ever playing around with them. Made you feel like you were straight out of an RPG. And how you two manage to end up in the situations of all situations ever is incredible it should be considered a talent. The entire time I was listening to the Oppenheimer movie theater story all I thought was that this was by far the wildest thing I have ever heard in my life. I was later proven wrong when Connor started talking about the guy he met in that bar in London. The part about movies changing resonated with me, for some reason there's barely any out there catching my interest these days and the last one I saw that I really loved was Barbie, in fact. Mentioning claymation brought back some fond memories of Wallace and Gromit.
Also very much with Connor on the difficulty of games, as much as I myself am a baby potato casual player who enjoys games at her own pace this way there is something deeply satisfying about a challenge! The harder it is, the more satisfied you are after you've finally beaten it. Ask section did me in the minute Kane started reading out the description, I was trying so bad not to laugh out loud and Connor's answer did not help. ð Thanks for the fun episode, always enjoy you two talking about life stuff and sharing your experiences! It's a great listen, with outlandish stories like the ones you tell us in particular and I can't wait for the next ones!
I just turned 40 and while gaming, anime etc. remain regular hobbies for me, I can easily go months at a time without them, I don't get fully immersed, I don't follow new trends and releases etc.
Conversely I am a lot more enthusiastic for working out and focusing on my relationships etc.
I'd say it's a fairly normal thing... it's not so much "growing up" as just deriving enjoyment from different things in different amounts as time goes on
(I'm also getting into BDSM so maybe it's all connected)
I am so glad you guys started doing these. You are able to bounce off of each other so well and it makes everything so much funnier.
In my experience, when consumptive hobbies (movies, games, etc) become dull, it's because you've spent too much time on them.
Try taking up a productive hobby where you make something. Build a birdhouse or something!
lmao first time watching an episode and you guys are hilarious. The bit about not talking about food was so great. You guys really mesh well together. Keep up the good stuff.
Past Connor: I'm going to say this right now! We're having a great time!
Oh no...
I WAS DYING when they kept mentioning food things and couldnât stop laughing
Trying to avoid making a big deal of something that may be nothing while people are trying to enjoy a movie and then having your own personal adventure on the side: I'm almost certain I would've done the same thing Connor did at the movie theatre.
I know they dropped it because it wasn't interesting for the first episode, but I would like them to do two truths and a lie but with History.
Also please don't stop talking about food. Those are like the best conversations.
Best episode so far. The food discourse or lack thereof got me laughing so hard looool
And that outro track still slaps!
Tinfoil hat on, margarita ready, we are so back boys
Every time a new episode of this comes out, it's the best day of my life
I guess we'll just be expecting Connor to wear a black top every ep
I'm playing catch up here, but I remember Klaymation! I had to -traumatize- show my husband the hotdog one, lol.
That swordfighting conversation will sure fuelâĶ something alright. That slowmo pie-ing made me deeply uncomfortable for some reason LOL
Edit: Iâm not sure about your British accent btw Connor ð
#SaveKane
i love your content pls dont die
Prof looks glowing in this one ð
their laughter gives me life
I love when Lando looks into the camera or into the middle distance silently when Connor asks a question ðð great episode boys !! ð
connor's movie theater story is so funny LMFAO also couldn't stop laughing at the food bit lololol
I hear claymation and the first thing I think about is Gumby back when it was airing on Nickelodeon.
FREE THE FOOD CONTENT!!!
Also Iâm glad yâall didnât become a news headline ððð
The Halo discussion reminds me of the meme of the spartan armor having an autojacker.
I canât believe I had to learn about sword fighting through thisâĶ.
not me cackling at 2am to this episode. great talks, gentlemen
I think this may have been the best episode yet I was physically CACKLING many many times it was extremely enjoyableeeEeeEeeEEeEEEEE
I knew Randon has talked about getting along well with Lando's dad but it seems he'll get along really well with his mom too
When Lando mentions movie theater food, the Mexican standoff of the century I swear man. Connor just cocked the revolver.
There is nothing hotter than guys who make each other laugh
I almost choked to death laughing three times this ep.
That movie experience sounded downright nightmarish, glad y'all made it out safely ;; Couldn't get over the hyper vigilance to avoid the food topic and food related words, good job for trying your best ð7 And the loss of interest in anime/games/etc might seem worrying but it'll be ok, just keep enjoying simple things that make you happy in life and maybe discover new interests. Also, this episode might have one of the funniest pie-ings to date imo >:3
No but, loss of interest being scary is SO TRUE. But like, you guys are in your late twenties and just now youre losing interests in gaming and animes and movies and stuff. Bro i lost that in my LATE TEENS. I dont think its like, bad per say tho. But yeah, i think not having interests IS related to being a workaholic. (I sure am) At one point you just realize "I need to enjoy life more" or "I need to work more and get my shit together". I wish I had some more time with my interests tho because being a broke science student isnt ideal for " enjoying life" LMAO
Tdlr; Connor and Lando being extremely relatable AGAIN
That was the funniest one yet, I have tears in my eyes!ð
Dude, Klay World. Yes! The music also randomly went hard sometimes for no reason.
this eps makes me cacles a lot lmaoo
15:44 Connor is just like me frfr I would rather blow up than be wrong and have people be mad at me.. but i have had the similar experience but like, in a bus. Its wasnt a bomb, thank God?? But the tire was on fire and there WAS a suspicious man (who i followed for about four hours, but like, sitting in a bus) and then he got down (i still looked out the window to look at him but he was out of my view and went behind the bus) and i smelt something burning, but I just kept sitting there and second guessing myself LMAO
Yeah I would never go to a theater again
i wear concert earplugs to every movie now bc they're so loud ð
I'd be down to listen to 10 episodes of food talk straight if it's with you two
really fun episode, guys! the "don't talk about food" bit had me rolling
from the stories Randon seems more like the son of your parents , he gets along with your dad and likes camping and spears like your mom lol
Losing my mind laughing along with them holy moly. Can't wait for more episodes
i love this episode so much
This is the funniest podcast I've heard
NEW BEST IN JEST UPLOADðĢðĢ
that story is insane, detective connor's decisions were funny XD glad you were all ok
a spear? interesting
Kane's fanfiction at the end had me in stitches
I legit couldn't eat lunch during the food bot because it was so fucking funny
If you guys don't stop being so silly I'm gonna become known as the speed walker who cackles to themselves...
Only criticism of the podcast is that the episodes arenât long enough
âžïļðĢïļð
Your mom got a spear? Interesting
What an amazing episode, couldn't stop laughing!!
